This could be a somewhat unfair review as it's more of a criticism of the entire Tri-State area grocery setup, but I think that high-end stores like this (alternatives to your average Foodtown or Shop Rite) really need to start stocking a lot more responsibly. Everyone knows that in this part of the country if you want great produce in December, tough shit. If you want really over-priced bland and nasty produce in December - you're in luck! So much expensive out of season nonsense here, which again is not unique to this place, but you'd think that with their attempt at internal branding that they'd try to at least encourage their clientele to adopt a more seasonal approach to their cooking, or at least use high quality frozen produce during the winter which is honestly better than the garbage they are peddling now. It's a weird hybrid of a store in that the left side when you walk in could honestly be a Whole Foods, and clearly that's what they are going for. Then there's the rest of the place which is honestly just your average supermarket, yet still with marked-up prices. It's fine, but I'd honestly rather drive out of my way to a Trader Joe's than keep going here, but my Mom and Aunt love the place so oh well. So the first time my fiance and I went to the bakery, we bought a cherry crostata which was nasty. The company sent us coupons to give the bakery another try. Last weekend we bought a vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake was mediocre.The frosting was gritty and had a really bad taste!! The cake was $20!!! Love this grocery store! A little oddly situated - hidden off to the side in a strip mall where the main road has an impenetrable divider so you have to figure it out. BUT this store was the best - an easy 3 mile ride out of Ocean Grove. Loved the bakery, meat/seafood, produce depts. if you can't find what you need here, you won't find it anywhere. Best supermarket around!

Places like Wegmans make me occasionally crave suburbia. What CAN'T you find in a place like this?! It's sort of a cross between Trader Joe's and Pier 1. Everyone is friendly and the inventory is well-stocked. You can even get decent fresh sushi. And the prices are all reasonable. I'm definitely not ready for the mini-van / mom jeans suburban combo deal just yet, but I'm admittedly in awe when I come here during visits to my in-laws. Let me preface this review with a note: I have always hated going to the supermarket. I hate the crowds, the broken shopping carts, buying produce that doesn't look that great b/c I need fruits and vegetables, terrible cashiers who throw your food down the belt as they ring you up.... This is just the best store. Selection is great, the staff is super nice (in all departments!), you can't go wrong. One stop wonder, with wine next door. As a side note, I had their salad bar for lunch. I never put chicken on my salad, because it's usually the seasoned, cubed kind, which freaks me out. At Wegmans, they have pulled, roasted chicken (no sauces or seasonings), and was a perfect addition to my do-it-yourself salad. read more

Put in a large order for delivery. Was supposed to come around 1 PM yesterday. Kept getting texts every 30 minutes that my order was delayed another 30 minutes or longer. Aaron d 7 PM my "shopper" texted that the shopping was done. About 20 minutes minutes later aI got a text that my order was canceled. I LOVE this grocery-store. It makes most supermarkets look like ships' pantries. There is nothing you can't find there. It also has a WONDERFUL coffee bar and a dining area with delicious food that you can pick out. Everything's fresh and there is so much variety. If anyone remembers Balducci's in NYC, Wegmans is something like that, only more so. So if you're preparing a meal that you want to be absolutely perfect, Wegmans is the place to go. They also sell neat dinnerware and kitchen gadgets too. It's a great place to put together a gift basket. And the service is great. The cashiers get people checked out quickly. The prices are reasonable too. I remeber reading about Wegmans in an MBA class I took. It was the subject of a case study in excellence in quality management. And it is run extremely well. This was my favorite store for so many years, "How the mighty have fallen"! The other day I could not find my usual brand of kefir (which happens here with ever increasing frequency), so I brought the Wegman's "organic" brand. It was like drinking pure sugar. So nasty. I guess Wegman's doesn't actually grasp the concept of organic eating. You don't add cane sugar to Kefir!!!! The bakery prices have just got out of control. It's just not ok anymore. Perhaps the Wegman family needs bigger Yachts or something, but I've shopped in better bakery's and they have better prices. The staff here used to be very helpful and pleasant, but now they seem to be just muttering through the day. If you ask they where an item might be found, they just point, "it's in 15"! The have just gone out of control everywhere in this store and it's like shopping in a Costco now. A Whole Food opened a few miles away, so if I'm going to pay these kind of prices, I'd rather shop in a store that at least pretends to care and has healthier stuff. It takes me about a half hour to get here (via Parkway) and I still make the trek once a week. I am totally obsessed with Wegmans. I was first introduced to it when I went to college, and my love for it continues. Their produce is leaps and bounds above ANY supermarket in the area's--both in quality and affordability. They ALWAYS have my favorite apples, and they have some of the best prices on vegetables and salad mix (I easily go through 3lbs of produce a day...so it can get pricey!) Their prepared section is AWESOME--fresh sushi and sashimi, entrees, salads, sandwiches, salad bar, Asian bar, soup station and their $6 entree +2 sides deal...it's a GREAT spot to pick up lunch! The bakery is also super tempting! The fruit tart is one of my favorite desserts ever. The cheese section is always tempting too--and don't get me started on the AWESOME Mediterranean bar (a million kinds of olives, marinated veggies, hummus/dips and the list goes on!) They have a HUGE selection of gluten free/allergy-friendly/organic foods. They obviously fall short compared to Whole Foods, but the stuff they do retail is much more mainstream and would easily appeal to the average consumer. Their own label of foods that is found throughout the store is consistently good as well. It is on everything from cereals, pasta and breads to frozen entrees and dairy products. The people who work here are also very friendly. Beware though, on the weekends, the lines can get L O N G! read more

Being a recent transplant to Asbury Park I have seen the worst Shoprite in Neptune and that Save Extra store in Asbury so there is nothing that even comes close to this location. The produce, baked goods, seafood and butcher shop always have fresh products and the staff is the greatest around. We always seem to find unique items we have come across in travel for sale on the shelves of wegmans. The pricing is great and the place is very clean especially the bathrooms. Lots of grab and go items and some great bulk packs as well. Try their cream pies- they are awesome-o. read more

They have hand sanitizer available when entering the store along with wipes for the carts. The staff does wear masks but many staff members on the floor are wearing masks with their noses outside the masks which defeat the purpose of wearing a mask. Most staff members are friendly and will help you locate an item you can't find either by telling you where to go or bringing you there. I grew up in Central New York (Syracuse area) and Wegmans is the primary grocery store option. Most of the other stores have not kept up and do not offer the range of products and customer service that Wegmans offers. It was pretty exciting to me when Wegmans opened there first stores in New Jersey. Even though they were located in Princeton and Bridgewater we still made the 40 minute drive to grocery shop (not every weekend but on special occasions). Over the last couple of years they have opened two stores closer to Holmdel. One is in Manalapan and the other is in Ocean, NJ. We still have to drive by several A&Ps and Shop Rights to get there but it is worth it for the Wegmans experience. There are other stores in the area that will compete in specialty areas such as Whole Foods, Delicious Orchards or Dearborn farms but at Wegmans it is possible have the same high quality and still complete all of the grocery shopping. There is a pharmacy as well. Everyone I know who has made the trip to these stores has nothing but positive comments. The stores are not perfect but they are way ahead of the competition. read more

This is our spot. Drunk, sober, doesn't matter.. it always has what we want. Food items are good quality and priced very well. Lots of gourmet brands to go along with all the normal stuff you see elsewhere. Deli section is great but meats are pricey and not any better than anywhere else. I just wanted to write a quick review about a recent experience at the Wegmans in Ocean twp. I had been having a problem getting decent fresh pineapples. Every time I brought one home, I'd cut into it and it would be brown and gross. Kind of like what happens to fresh fruit when it's frozen whole and then thawed. I sent an email to Wegmans expressing my concern and they responded immediately and then a week later I received some really nice coupons. (2) $10 off coupons to be exact. That was extremely nice of them and totally unexpected. Definitely appreciated and I'll be going there tomorrow to use my coupons . That's really all it takes to KEEP a good customer who's has an issue. Make it right and I'll be loyal forever. Whether you're looking for a prepared meal, fresh produce, or Japanese candy, Wegmans is the place to go. With so many options is hard to make a final decision. I'm guilty of walking into here wanting one thing, walking around for an hour, completely forgetting what I came for, and walking out with something else. The store has so many things, that its kind of overwhelming when you're not going for anything specific. The Asian buffet is always good. They have prepared sushi that I've heard is top quality (I'm allergic to fish), and the bakery always has something to fit your current craving. I am updating my review of wegmans. The last few times I was there the prepared food didn't taste good, I got sick from it, plus...they were cleaning everything up at 6:30! Come on! Whole foods keeps their food bar open until 8. I also wish they would make their salad bar organic, like whole foods. Or at least offer some organic options. I think their prepared foods, baked goods, and "wegmans" brand products have a lot of bad ingredients, like MSG and "yeast extract" and dangerous preservatives and artificial colors. And GMOs. Oh, and the last time I was there, the wallpaper was peeled back by the windows upstairs with green and black MOLD growing behind the wallpaper. Take care of that please! My love for Wegman's hath no boundaries. Many have heard of the cult fave and rave reviews that Wegman's generates, and I'm going to share in that. When on road trips round the East Coast, they're my stops. When visiting family, I take them to Wegman's. When anywhere within 30mins of one, I get inordinately excited. It's a beautiful experience, the food bar is giant, the selection is huge, the dining in experience is restaurant grade, the produce is beautiful, the labeling is thorough & accurate, the organics are affordable, the prices are great, they accept Apple Pay/Android Pay/contactless/card/check/everything, their cleansiness is supreme in all depts, their selection is massive (flowers, household goods, stationery, Family/Club Size items, catering, you name it), their locations are so convenient, their bathrooms are clean and spacious (kids steps too!), layout is self-explanatory, their restaurants (yes! inside!) are better than most, and the employees are happy (that matters in everything). They've continuously redefined the supermarket since the 1970s & continue the innovating. read more
