Who doesn't love Wegmans? They can be a bit pricey at times. However, I prefer spending a little extra and having AMAZING customer service over saving a few dollars and deal with rude employees from Walmart/tops. Everyone here is always pleasant and helpful. We recently had a party for my 90 year old father at Wegmans, Canandaigua. It may sound trite, but I haven't the words to express how wonderful this party was. From the inception, the staff bent over backwards to make this a special evening for my father. When we walked into the room, we forgot for a moment that we were in a 'grocery store'. The design of the tables, the linens, etc were exquisite! And the food was fabulous! Our guests were so complimentary of each dish on the buffet. Probably the best chicken french we had ever had and the beef was so tender! We even had some unusual allergies to contend with but the staff did it with ease. And the staff was so friendly and a real pleasure to be with! I highly recommend using our Wegmans for any event you are planning. They are so accommodating, the food is superb, the atmosphere was great and the prices couldn't be beat. To be sure, we will use them again! I never really appreciated Wegmans until I left upstate NY and headed south again. To have this close by is a treat and always make a effort to stop in and browse when visiting the area, even when not buying anything. Wegmans knows how to do grocery and is super clean, has excotic fruits that I never heard of and the service is great. I found it extremely cool they sell fresh cooked food for lunch and so many various cheeses and it is almost a place you can spend a entire afternoon. We now have Kroger in the south who is trying their best to copy Wegmans style but will never compare. Love this place! read more

My boyfriend and his family turned me on to this incredible grocery store when we visited his family in upstate New York. I was so pleased to find out there was a Wegmans back home, and now I hate shopping anywhere else for my groceries! Wegmans is the ultimate food-shopping experience. The food selection is remarkable. There are so many prepared meals, antipastos, breads, meats and cheeses to choose from. We love eating at the Wegmans' food cafe before we start shopping. The food buffet is delicious and reasonably priced, and I can even get a fresh organic latte made by a barista to enjoy with my meal. I love that Wegmans has reasonably priced store-brand organic produce, and it is so easy to find. Shopping at this store is a breeze! read more

Wegmans in general are seriously the best grocery store around. The Canandaigua store is the one I usually shop at, and it is a great store. The produce is THE BEST around. No other chain does a better job. Fruits and vegetables are FRESH. I get my herbs here when I don't have any from my own garden. My only gripe is how everything is going private label. Wegmans is a cult favorite of the Greater Rochester region, and after visiting many, Canandaigua has one of the best by far! The stock and selection varies from farmer's market to certified organic, but also simple and affordable foods with plenty of sales every week. The dining area is understandably packed during meal hours because all the ready-made food is so delicious! The store is clean, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the customers are MUCH less pretentious than, say, those at the flagship stores in closer to Rochester. Anytime I've been away for a while, Wegmans is always one of the first places to revisit. read more

Love wegmans. Has the best fruit and vegetable selection. Everything in the restaurant part is great. Place is clean and employees are very friendly. However when asked if someone could help me load my car today. I had mostly heavy items that were hard to even put in the cart. I waited quite awhile as the person who was initially told I needed help ran around looking for someone else to do it. I finally did it myself. Other than that it's a great place. read more

The best Wegmans in my opinion, best service, great selection, and the best food court.

Well tonight I learned something about Wegmans I never dreamed of. First of all they were all out of their "Wegman's" good best quality of loaves of bread (apology signs all around?) Also out of one of their best hamburger meats (have seen the hamburger thing before so don't know why they don't order more of this brand). Anyway then the clincher: We were paying for our groceries and had 2 gift cards. I got to use the Wegmans bonus card and then accidently swiped the wrong card. It was a credit card that resembled one of the gift cards. When asked if it could be refunded so we could use the right credit card and our gift cards we were told "I don't think so??" What!????? Then we were taken to the service desk where they asked every manager this side of outer space if this could be done and "NO WAY" was the answer. It was LIKE being told "sorry we don't give a darn if you are human and made a mistake using the wrong card-so what if you over draw etc." Also was LIKE "sorry we don't give a darn that you did not get to use your gift cards toward your purchases-oh well". So we left there knowing we would have to call our credit card company and hope we did not go over our limit or get penalized for it. OH WELL!! So just want to let everyone know look twice before you use a credit card at Wegmans. Have never heard of this policy anywhere?!!! read more

Our whole family is Wegmans-loyal!! However tonight (9/13/2013) we were most disappointed to come to our weekly dinner and shopping with our daughter, husband and grandchildren and to find that in the changes made in the dining room menus now do not include gluten free meals such as was had enjoyed during our frequent spring and summer visits. Both my husband and daughter are celiac; when they asked a chef he said that the fall changes now favor pasta. If celiacs want gluten free pizza, they now have to get one out of the gluten free freezer case and bring it to the dining area to be cooked (the supervisor of that department did tell my husband that they are trying to find a suitable pizza to serve to celiacs). We will be thinking twice about eating there now until more gluten free items are offered. We hope that will be soon. read more

Anyone else notice all the brand names they once carried have been replaced with Wegmans brand? Anyone else notice some of the Wegmans brand products are a few ounces less than the brand product they are replacing? I first noticed it with cereal, and then with their tomato sauce jars. Anyone else notice Wegmans brand products are filled with cheap unhealthy substitute ingredients like high fructose corn syrup? HFC is one of the main ingredients in their chicken noodle soup. Chicken noodle soup is the go-to meal for sick children. That's not what I want my sick child to eat for a healthy meal. We've always been loyal customers, but now it takes two stops to do our grocery shopping because they no longer have a great selection of different brands. This review applies to any and all Wegmans stores. They are so awesome. I have grown up with Wegmans being THE grocery store we shop at. I thought this is the way all of them were. Not true. I moved to Connecticut for college and have stayed there since. We have Stop and Shop, Big Y, and every once in a while you come across a Whole Foods. I would take Wegmans over them any day. The selection of products they have is much better and bigger than Stop and Shop and Big Y. The quality of produce and foods that they have is like Whole Foods, but much cheaper. You can also sit down and have your lunch before taking on the daunting task of shopping. Pizza, subs, sushi...they have everything! Also like Whole Foods, but also cheaper. I have recently returned home to find that they have an amazingly impressive selection of beers, more specifically craft beers. There is a whole cooler display of full of single bottles of several different types of beer (at least 60 in the one I was at). You can pick whatever you want to make your own 6 pack. The selection they have is more impressive than most package stores I've been to in Connecticut. If you have a Wegmans be thankful. If you don't have one but see one in your travels you must stop!! I love this Wegmans! Service is great, the food supply is great. They always have an unlimited amount of everything. And their sushi and hot food buffet. Mmmmm! I also love that they have a huge restaurant style seating area that continues on to the outdoor patio. It's beautiful! I like to bring my school stuff to study sometimes. I used to buy the triple fruits spread because its sweetener was sugar, not corn syrup. Last week, after the shelf had been empty for several weeks, the jars were back, now with the "Food you feel good about" label on it. I bought it, but before leaving the store, I decided to read the ingredient label. To my disappointment, there is now high fructose corn syrup in it! What a deceptive label on it now! I immediately returned it and got a refund. I will not buy it again! read more

Top Notch seafood and great service. Every time I come to Canandaigua for the summer I am so happy to have this store in town. The guys in the Seafood department do a great job of bringing fresh stuff in and making sure it is packaged properly. Many times you buy fish at other markets it is not properly packaged and leaks all over the car. The packaging at this wegmans is never like this. Wegmans what can I say that hasn't already been said? My husband and I live in Florida and we come up to Western NewYork and Canandaigua, N.Y. every summer as that's where we are both from. I have e-mailed, called, begged and cried when I walk in the store every time we come home for them to bring a store to Florida. It's kind of pathetic that a 63 year old woman does this every summer. You can rave about Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and the endless other grocery stores (we have Publix down here and our new Publix on Dunlawton in Port Orange is trying to emulate them but it's still not Wegmans. I talk to anyone who'll listen about Wegmans and they kind of look at you as though you are crazy if you haven't every been in one. Please Wegmans open your signature store in Port Orange, Florida good place to start, upscale community, working class people with a huge snow bird population in the winter..You would make an old woman happy! read more

I was a daily shopper at this wegmans store for over 10 years & it used to be great but in the last 2 years it's gone down the toilet!! They cheap out on ALL the food now, but it's still high prices. The bakery is pathetic...they used to have a really great pastry selection that was fresh but now there's just 50 different kinds of cookies...seriously?! The bagels arnt fresh anymore either. The "hot food" section is totally disgusting...here's a hint, if u can't figure out how to make fish, macaroni or ribs, just don't bother. Anyone from the south would be insulted by this garbage. Seriously all the food is just disgusting & disappointing now. They replaced great things like pastries, fresh bagels & calzones with boiled "ribs" & a salad bar. I bought cotton candy that's by the register one time & when I opened it on the car ride home, there was a thick layer of mold on the top. I was willing to pay the higher wegmans prices because they had unique & fresh quality food that was worth the extra money....but I'm not going to pay high prices for stupid cookies & undercooked tasteless food. Even the fish fries are gross now. Stop remodeling the patio & bring back the quality!!! Until then, I'm not shopping at wegmans anymore! I haven't been back for almost 2 years because of all this. Whoever's managing this store has completely ruined it now!!!! read more
