Wegmans used to be the pinnacle of grocery stores in Upstate NY. Now it's just the Erewhom of upstate NY. Over priced terrible quality rude obnoxious and miserable workers customers are not much better. They sell things at double the price of other grocery chains with less quality. Their chicken wings are hysterically horrible the Chinese food is vile the sub shop is eh. Cheese and deli is still the only reason to go here other than that save the $400 per trip and shop at aldis. read more

I shop at the Wegmans in Canandaigua. I buy ground beef for grilling hamburgers. The last 2 times that I have purchased ground beef, I have found a small bone chip in the meat while eating my burgers. I think I will go elsewhere for ground beef in the future. read more

Wegmans and wegmans pharmacy are extremely people friendly and truly serve their customers with great care and knowledge. They both complement each other. The store is managed by GM. Larry Gamer who is a very nice gentleman and a great people person along with his staff, Assistant manager Andy and service desk manager Allie. You're in great hands here and not to mention no matter how busy they are they always greet you with a genuine smile. the rest of the employees in the store are exactly the same with their wonderful demeanor. These employees are very hard working and I always thank them for their valuable time and allowing me to take away from their duty. Ordered Wegmans2Go for dinner one evening and cannot be more pleased with the experience. Easy to order on the Wegmans app, then just drive to Wegmans and park in the designated spots. Once there, I followed the instructions on the sign and someone brought my salad and my family's order out promptly. What there not to love about Wegmans from its friendly service, to a whole cafe with delightful burgers, pizza, delicious subs, sushi, and many options of wings. Also they have a ginormous outdoor seating to enjoy the food and with a lovely firepit. Also the many samples they have is amazing. And there cookies are just insane, loaded with chocolate chunks and the perfect size. Also unlike other grocery stores they have and upstairs! LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!! I cannot understand why the Canandaigua Wegmans has the ready to go lettuce /greens with dates that are to expire in a day or two. I tend to shop at 3 different Wegmans and only find this to be the case at the Canandaigua store. I should be able to purchase this item with more than 2 or three days before it's due to expire. read more

Wegmans has always been one of my absolute favorite places on shop. They stock a HUGE variety of different foods (dairy free, gluten free, sugar free, organic foods and niche brands), their fresh foods are amazing (pizzas, subs, burgers, coffee, cakes and donuts), they are impeccably clean and well stocked, the prices are good, the customer service is great, and they treat their employees well. One of the reasons I'd hate moving from this area is that I would have to have a Wegmans near by. I love everything about the store, from the layout to the choices and brands of food they carry. The employees are ALWAYS nice. Once about 30 years ago I was shopping in the old Henrietta Wegmans when a woman next to me dropped a bottle of bleach and it exploded all over myself and my 4 year old. The manager whisked us into the back and had us wash up. They gave us both shirts to wear home and apologized profusely. As I walked out of the door, they handed me a bouquet of flowers, a box of cookies for my daughter and a $150 gift card to pay for our ruined clothes, shoes and coats. They made a customer for life that day because they immediately worried about myself and my daughter before anything else. read more

Tried to pay at self serve checkout. I wanted to pay partly with debit card, part with credit card, for items totaling $67. Clerk said to put in debit card first. Machine took total amount, resulting in an (eventual) $34 bank charge for overdraft. I went to customer service to fix the charge. She tried to reverse the charges, but this resulted in yet another charge to my debit card. Result: all messed up, plus she said my credit card showed no available credit, when the day before I had $44. The $67 in items is now costing me close to $144. Yes, I love Wegmans for all the reasons everyone posts, but I seldom shop there for the following reasons: During the winter it's a long, perilous walk into the store , even from the handicap spots. I'm not in need of handicap parking any longer, gratefully but dealing with snow, slush and ice for anyone is a challenge. There needs to be a cart return near the handicap parking, which they have at the Geneseo location, so it can be done! In short, the design of the parking lot makes Aldi and the drive through pharmacy of Walgreens my preferred shopping locations. read more

Before you disregard this review as "just another Wegmans-lover", bear with me. I actually had my wedding flowers done at Wegmans. Wanda, the floral dept head, is a former Sonnenberg Gardens staffer, so she KNOWS her stuff. I wanted something that was different and not totally traditional for my wedding, and she did an amazing job. We were having an outdoor wedding, so we were looking for something bright, fresh and natural-looking. I really dislike super traditional "done" looking flowers; they don't look like flowers to me. The bouquets she did were made to look like freshly picked wildflowers (I wanted sunflowers and lavender), and really were amazing! She was even able to add in lavender that was grown in my Mom's garden. Awesome. Since my husband is Scottish, and all of the groomsmen were wearing kilts, we also wanted to do boutonnieres that had thistle (the flower of Scotland). Wanda didn't even bat an eye. Double awesome. For the specialized arrangements that she provided us and the VERY competitive price, I have to say that I would recommend Wegmans floral to anyone who needs flowers for a big event. I cant believe i am reviewing a grocery store but whatever. We gots fresh scallops from the seafood department which was so busy on NYE. They were honestly some of the best scallops i have ever cooked. Even from fancy seafood markets, wegmans was better. I was so sad i couldn't try every bakery item they had. Everything looked and smelt delicious. I am from a different part of ny who had never been to a wegmans. Why doesnt everywhere have a wegmans?! You can get EVERYTHING there. read more

LOVE that in the middle of the country sticks that this place is open 24 HOURS!!!!! No offense to country sticks folk or anything but coming from NYC, where things are pretty accessible 24/7, it's a shocker that other areas of upstate NY are catching onto to the 24 hr thing :) But I Like it dammit! Not a big fan of shopping here between 12pm - 2pm though because it's a mad house but still it's worth it. They also have a great organic section as well as a market cafe area where you can stay and eat or take out the yummy prepared goodness. The Wegmans brand products are also very good and a pretty much a damn great value (dude 1 lbs. of butter is 1.99!!!) Everything here is fresh and the store is kept immaculate! Of course I love Wegman's. I'm another typical native who's love affair with the Wegman's chain borders on psychotic. I love everything about the stores and my appreciation for what Wegman's has to offer has only been heightened by having lived in Manhattan for the past nine years. I love being able to come home to Canandaigua and have access to specialty foods that no other local business can provide. Quality caviar from Caviar Russe is just one example. I used to bring it hone with me but now ICANN order it and not stress about it "keeping" during the drive. The stores are always clean and the quality of everything is very high. My only caveat is that their sushi is really not good, but I rarely find good sushi outside of New York and San Francisco so I won't award demerits. With Wegman's expansion I am now able to get the same local brands in the city because they have several stores now in metro New Jersey and not even Whole Foods, Citarella or Balducchi's can hold a candle to Heluva Good dip and Zweigle's hots!!!! read more

Wow! I wish we had a Wegman's near us. I think this is the most fun supermarket I've ever visited. We had lunch there! Food displayed nicely everywhere. Lots of prepared choices including vegetarian. It's always exciting to get to shop here. I look forward to it everytime we travel far enough north. The produce section is about the size of our normal grocery store in Florida. There are so many varieties of vegetables, fruits, meats, cheese.... In fact, there's just the largest variety of all types of foods. If you want olives you better be able to make a decision because there are probably 20 to pick from on the olive bar alone. We like to start our Wegman's adventure with a fresh cup of their coffee and tour around the different departments. We can spend hours in Wegman's! read more

DW and I have always been a big fans of visiting grocery stores while we're on the road. Wegman's is seriously one of the best that we have been to. We've been to other Wegman's locations before but haven't had the time to Yelp about them. This location was just down the road from our digs while we were staying in Canandaigua for a wedding. As a beer lover, I have to say that the craft beer selection at Wegman's is well above average for a super market. They had an entire section dedicated to local NY brews. Since I haven't had the chance to do a normal grocery shopping trip @ a Wegmans, I can't comment on how competitive their pricing is. I would guess that their prices are a little higher, but you pay for quality, cleanliness and freshness that Wegmans seems to take so seriously. Simply the best shopping experience this side of the Mississippi. Fast and efficient checkout. Excellent pricing. Fresh produce that is monitored continually and bought locally. Food and beverage area is classy. Outdoor sitting area is welcoming and comfortable. Bathrooms are always clean! Bakery, deli, seafood and meat departments are top notch. I once went through the checkout and realized that I left my wallet at home. The front end manager took my groceries and stored them in the cooler/freezer area while I went home to retrieve my wallet. They have absolutely everything you can possibly think of that other grocery stores do not carry - exotic teas, herbs, spices, fruits, mixes, vegetables, cuisines, etc. The have a huge variety of everything to fit your wants and needs. Today I was refused service at Wegmans. I'm on vacation with my family. My boyfriend and myself are close to 30. We had my 16 year old step sister with us for the ride to the grocery store. We were refused an alcohol purchase. I explained that she does not have ID, she is a child. Keep in mind my sister is wearing her jesus summer camp shirt. I am highly offended that three people came over to refuse service. I am beyond disgusted that these people working the registers think that we would condone underage drinking. read more

Went here several times for subs. They were great! Went here 2 days ago and the subs were awful. Not sure what your doing wegmans but your subs are going downhill. I feel like they bought the cheapest meat they could get their hands on. The sub had no flavor, tasted like i was eating water. Recent supermarket rating listed Wegmans and Publix as tied. Obviously whoever conducted the survey has never been in a Wegmans. I spend winters in southern Florida and Publix is the largest supermarket in my area, but as nice as it is, it doesn't hold a candle to Wegmans. Their produce is not great, their steaks are awful, and they never have adequate staff behind the deli. I will say their front end cashiers are very pleasant, but they don't make up for the general unfriendly/unhelpful staff stocking shelves or working behind the meat or deli counter. Also, they have people making/handing out samples that don't speak or smile. It was so good to get back home so I could shop at a grocery store that knows how to do food! read more

This Wegmans is amazing. We hired them to do all the flowers for my wedding in May 2013 at a local winery. They did an amazing job. Their initial quote was very reasonable and they did not stray from it. The flowers were of the highest quality and they did everything they could to help me cut costs by suggesting inexpensive flowers. I was blown away when my wedding day came. We got so many compliments about the flowers. Don't go to an overpriced florist when you can utilize the staff at Wegmans. We worked very closely with Lisa and she was absolutely fabulous. read more
