Having recently moved to Boston from the San Francisco Bay Area, I am always seeking out a good grocery market, one that will combine all my California favorites and Whole Foods but with Trader Joe pricing.....Wegman's is amazing by ANY West Coast standard. I do think California has thee best markets around - errrrr, I did.....then I discovered Wegman's. OMG, folks - it is the best...yes, takes time to navigate thru but it also takes tons of time to from TJ's to WF's and beyond....and it has a wine selection that can compete with any California establishment I have been to... my first experience was at the Chestnut Hill location and then I went to Burlington. For the opening days they brought in seasoned employees to help train and make a smooth transition. The selection within each department is amazing...I will agree the produce is good, not great but then I am comparing to California and one cannot compare. Each department has personnel who know their product. The meat department has an awesome selection of organic product...not over the top pricey ! Organic - Noticed right away their selection is excellent and expansive. Market Basket and Stop and Shop have a ways to go. Of course Whole (Paycheck) Foods has a good selection...but it drains the pocketbook unnecessarily. Deli - Great selection...one comment that the meats are pre-sliced and he likes his cut to order...so do I ....so they did. No smirk, no comment -making the customer happy is their main mission. If I come during lunch, I always make a salad and have a cup of soup first so I don't over-buy....dee-lish. Marketing/flyers/coupons....their Fall book had some AMAZING healthy recipes (the cauliflower soup rocked it)...how do they put so much into coupons/marketing etc. and still keep their prices low ? I'll tell you how : GOOD MANAGEMENT!!!!!! They know how to spend the marketing dollars.... Can you tell I love Wegman's? WEGMAN'S : consider moving new stores to Northern California - the competition is not like SoCal and they need markets like yours....closest SoCal has is Gelson's and it is $$$$. Ive been a wegmans employee for many years and its been a ok experience. The managers are always not caring about their employees. When we need help bagging there standing around laugh. When we have no lines they dont let us do anything we have to stand at our registers and twiddle our thumbs. On weekends its so understaffed by the time your shift is 1 hour in your tired as can be. I made a visit to Wegmans in Burlington.Friday 0626 around 5 pm to their in-store pharmacy. Since this was a new prescription I cannot say how smooth a prescription transfer would go but my experience was great. The prescription was free and the refills will be through the end of the year - no insurance company information required!. Its their way of getting new business and so far, no catch! However, the best part of the experience was the way I was treated by the young pharmacist who was friendly, thorough, and patient as I was a bit nervous with the new medicine. She was understanding and gracious with her time (it wasn't that busy). This was my first experience filling a prescription at any place other than a stand alone pharmacy and it was great. I have already recommended this Wegmans pharmacy to a few friends and family. read more

I discovered Wegmans many many years ago when I had a friend who lived in Rochester. 30 years ago the store was amazing. Quality, selection, and really ahead of its time. Looks like that Wegmans is gone. I've only been to Wegmans a few times since they moved into Boston area - they aren't in my town so not really convenient - but I went today and I was really disappointed. They used to have a great wine dept. They knew vineyards they bought from and had relationships with small producers. Now there's no dept - wine is all over the store, which makes it v hard to compare and decide. I generally find their set up a bit confusing but maybe I'm just not used to it. Quality of plants and flowers not great. Prices aren't great. And when I got home I discovered the parmesan cheese - their brand - I bought is loaded with mold. Lots of mold. They have stacks of it all around that section of the store. I didn't check it, but it seems to me someone in the store should either be checking it daily or finding a better way to store/display it. I'll return it to get my money back. But I won't be doing my shopping there again. Too bad, they used to be the gold standard. read more

I came on 10/26 for the opening. It was so crowded I couldn't get much done although I did pick up some of their cheese and a muffin. Since then I've been back for organic burritos and indian food. The staff are cool and the interior of the store has a non-New England vibe which is very welcome, personally, around these parts. read more

Such great service here, in love! Along with the great variety of everything both organic and not, they have A+ prices. I live in Bedford and the drive to Burlington is not too bad for me. I enjoy being able to know that there will be lots of parking when I arrive. I think it's quiet clever they name the parking section by fruits/veggies to help remember. Everything is always fully stocked and the staff really look like they enjoy their job! Such a clean environment too. Keep up the good work, I will definitely be a regular! read more

Wegmans makes me happy. Confusing at first, but it's really broken up into 4 sections. Liquor in the first quarter to the left, groceries next, fresh fruit & veggies after that, then......the hot & ready buffets! Anything from vegetarian/vegan to chicken wings! Their salad bar is extensive and delicious. The food is always fresh. So many people eating there can't be wrong. It's a little out of my way and a little more costly on some items, but I like the way I feel there...Is that weird? read more

I've only been here once so far to do some browsing and have dinner. Their hot food buffet is large but it was bad, bad, BAD! I have no idea how long they let food sit but it tasted OLD. The lo mein had no lo mein - just scraps of vegetables. They only had jasmine and basmati rice to eat with your meal - where's the fried rice?! Their Indian choices were nasty; the naan bread tasted like air - it literally had no flavor! Never again. Although, I'm giving them two stars because the store is huge and their liquor section is amazing. I'd only come back to buy liquor. read more

I wanted to take an opportunity to tell you how much of a pleasure it was to shop at Wegmans today. I really took notice that Wegmans runs like a well oiled machine. The employees are friendly, courteous and hard working. You seem to hire people that genuinely care about their customers and it shows. Today, when checking out I grabbed 5 of the Red Sox reusable shopping bags and the gentleman that handled my checkout took great care in folding the bags in the cart so they would stand up, and did a packing job that would have impressed Martha Stewart. I didn't catch his name but the number on my receipt was 354117. OUTSTANDING JOB !! While he was ringing my order I noticed a supervisor walking up and down and calling for additional registers to be opened. Not that I haven't seen that before but it just really struck me today that Wegmans is on top of things. Next, I visited the Market Cafe for lunch and it was very busy at 1PM. I am a huge Chinese Food person and I must say that Wegmans stands up to any Chinese restaurant in the area. But the most impressive part of the Cafe today were the 4 cashiers. At times, the line stretched back to the soda doors but these 4 did such a great job to keep it moving nobody ever waited more than a few minutes. I sat back and watched it while I ate, it was so refreshing to see . One of the 4 was a supervisor who jumped in because he was needed. Would Wegmans consider training the clerks at the Registry of Motor Vehicles ? Alright with all those compliments just 2 pet peeves : 1. You need more staff at the Deli for Cold Cut Orders 2. You need to carry Pepperidge Farm Original Bread so I can stop going to Stop & Shop read more

Save your money and stick with Market Basket. Selection is nice, but over priced. Went there on Christmas Eve to buy shrimp (which is same quality as Hannefords but more money). Got to the checkout and the unpleasant middle aged cashier scolded me for moving my empty basket to the next lane then proceeded to try to engage in an argument in front of a line of people. It was humiliating and bizzare. If we had not needed the shrimp, I would have left it at the register and told the cashier to take her meds. I will never be back. read more

Wegmans is a great new place to shop. The butcher is amazing and won't hesitate to stop and chat with you. He gave us a few great ideas.

Meh. Felt like a glorified stop and shop. Still prefer Trader Joes and Whole Foods and Market Basket. Too big and overwhelming for me. I prefer a smaller store with just what I want instead of all the junk most grocery stores sell. read more

We visit this Wegman's once per week, usually earlier in the morning on a Saturday to avoid the crowds. It's a vast foodie paradise. Local, fresh produce. Hard to find items for those who cook interesting things. Extensive fish and meat selection. The deli is amazing and there is affordable wine, beer, and liquor. Get a Shopper's Club card and their app if you're smart. You can build your grocery list (with price totals), and it shows you the aisle you can find the goods. You can also save cash by scanning your card via your phone at checkout. read more

Great selection produce and meat is very high quality, and the prepared section is amazing. Best place for lunch/dinner when you have multiple food preferences to deal with ex vegetation, Jewish, Hindu and a very picky eater too. All them found something delicious to eat. read more

The strategy seems to be keeping you there as long as possible. Related items are placed far from one another so you have to walk across the entire store (and impulsively pick up more things to buy along the way). Not a good place to go to pick up 10 or fewer items. If you have a couple hours for a big shopping trip then this place is an option, though prices are higher than most other grocery chains in the area. read more

I'm two and a half weeks into my love affair with Wegmans. I've gone twice this week. Each time buying a fancy cheese and salami that I didn't need...and don't even get me started on the cheese rolls. I love how this store has a gigantic selection of Organics, but that I can also buy my non-organic staples, like peanut butter for my pooch. The variety of grass fed meat/poultry is amazing. This isn't 5 stars because the variety of organic fruit was meh. See you soon, Wegmans. read more

I love this place. The food is decently priced, and the store is huge. They have a great café, and a big selection of foods, beers and liquors. The parking garage is big, so you'll never have a problem finding a space, and the staff seem very helpful for such a new establishment in the area. When Wegmans first opened I was excited and stopped shopping at Market Basket. The number of choices was extensive. But since then their quality has declined and the staff actively avoids helping customers - which is against Wegmans policy, but there's no one to police them. So I'm back to shopping at Market Basket, which is a very nice, affordable supermarket with great customer service. read more

This is my supermarket now. The best way I describe Wegmans to people I've never been there is that its a combination of the food quality of Wholefoods and the prices of Market Basket. The store has everything from name brands to local organic options. They have a liquor store, bakery, candy store, sushi bar, lunch buffet, etc. you name it they have it. Their store brand items are just as good as name brand items, the pizza sauce they sell themselves is always pleasing. Prices are slightly higher than market basket, but you have a much shopping experience here. read more

Watch out "Whole Foods" & "Trader Joes"! "Wegmans"has come to town! And will be coming closer to North Shore in near future. I love this new grocery store. 2 International Isle's are very impressive. Produce is very fresh and the baked goods are delicious. The meat is very expensive but they have things that the other supermarkets don't carry like Venison, rabbit and wild boar. The place is huge. Bigger than a Walmart. I just wish they would build one closer to my home in Peabody. I think it's worth the trip so I go shopping all the way to Burlington from Peabody. read more

**updated review** I wanted to update my previous review because although it was a HORRIBLE experience I did end up giving them another shot. I visit this store 2-3 times a month and am usually pretty satisfied with everything. They have a respectable selection of organic produce and other products and the prices are usually on level with other grocery stores. I will say that you have to check the produce thoroughly as I've found a lot of rotten items on the shelves. But with some due diligence you can usually find a good selection. There has never been a repeat of the horrible staff interaction I had when the store first opened, and thankfully I've only found the staff helpful and nice since. The store has a liquor section which is super convenient for someone like me who would almost never go out of my way to visit a standalone package store. I can grab whatever while I get my other groceries. I'm honestly not sure how the prices compare in that department. read more

Wegmans is a great store. Their prices are good and it is very clean. Their meals in their Marketplace are tasty but a bit pricey. My only negative is their produce department. Over the years I've found that their produce is not the freshest and tastiest. Stop & Shop and Market Basket have far better produce. read more

Good for select shopping but the food court is seriously lacking. This place obviously has a great selection. You will find many things you wont find at market basket but then again, market basket has them beat by far when it comes to price. The cold cut area for example is substantially cheaper at market basket. But if you are looking for something unique, then go to Wegmans for that but I would continue to do my core shopping at market basket. As for the food court at Wegmans, it started off much better. But now, the food always looks old. And they charge something like 8.99 per pound. This is similar to whole foods but whole foods offers a better selection and the food always looks fresher. If you do go to the Wegmans food court, I would recommend getting a freshly made sandwich or a slice of pizza. It is a shame they don't do a better job with the food court since so much of the store is dedicated to tables (inside and outside) for it. read more

A few weeks ago I was looking for a particular sushi roll. When finding out they no longer made the roll I was looking for the sushi man told me to call ahead of time and it would be no problem. Just called do that and they told me it's not possible. Why lie to customer in the first place when they could've have just said no from the start. 1 star service read more

After a few visits I can say, "This won't replace Market Basket". Great fruits & vegetable section, their hot food and prepared food area delivers what they promise, but as far as shopping goes, groceries are hard to find. Very little selection on most items like eggs, pasta, condiments, and more. Example; they carry Poland Springs water, but not Poland Springs Sparkling water? They do have many international foods. They carry a 2 or 3 brands of olives, but they dedicate almost an entire isle to loose candy & nuts. The short isles do not allow for ease of movement from one to another. On the bright side, they have a full liquor store at good prices, and the best parking system I've seen in MA. Current stores should take a page from Wegman's parking lot. If I need to pick up already prepared meals I'll go there, but if I just want to shop for dinner, I'll stick with my store. read more

I'm sooooo happy to finally have a Wegmans nearby. I grew up in upstate NY, so like everyone else from that area I'm a little obsessed. Here's just a few reasons why: Prepared food is to die for, especially the subs and sushi. Also, you can't beat freshly made meals for $6. All store-brand items through the supermarket are better or equal to brand name. Produce quality is way better than anywhere else. Huge selection of Gluten free, organic, and international food. The Wegmans App is amazing. Download it, then search for recipes or products, view prices, add them to your shopping list, and it reorganizes them by aisle to show you where to find them in the store. Excellent customer service. Wegmans doesn't just say it, they live it. Ask any team member and they are happy to help you find something. Not sure what to buy? Ask. They'll have you sample deli or cheese items if you're not sure. Great lunch spot for convenience or stopping by with work friends, they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (with fireplaces). read more

We love this Wegman's! It's always clean and the prices are pretty good. They woo us with cool, relaxing music and the atmosphere makes me want to shop for more groceries- as much as anyone could want to I suppose. We've had some lunch there a few times and it was pretty good as well. We love the variety of products. read more

I'm sick of the shrinking selection of products that aren't wegmans own. Who else thinks something's wrong with that?

I was really looking forward to going to Wegman's for the first time..and its OK, but the hype is bigger than the product. The selection is obviously enormous, but the store isn't laid out in a way that makes it easy to find things (why is there cheese in five different locations?). My main purpose for coming here was to check out the selection of organic produce - Wegman's boasts that they own an organic farm in NY - but on the day I visited the organic produce was terrible. The display was half empty, and what was there was wilted or dried out; this was 8am on a Friday morning. Price wise they don't compete with Market Basket on most items I looked at. The fresh seafood was just OK looking, and very expensive (wild salmon $28 a lb?). However, the beer/wine selection is extensive and priced very competitively. There's a huge selection of ready made food which I didn't investigate as I was there to shop, not eat. I don't know if this was an off day for this store, but I plan to stick with Market Basket and an occasional foray to Whole Foods. read more

I don't get the hype. I still prefer Roche Brothers in Burlington. I live in Winchester by Whole Foods. Whole Foods, Wilsons Farm, and Roche Brothers are the best. Stop&Shop sucks- disgusting meat and produce, that's why they have such low prices, ugh nasty. read more
