Looks like a local convenience store but it's a hidden gem for a solid breakfast sandwich and coffee! Real egg that was a bit jammy with melty cheese and a good amount of bacon. Lots of iced coffee options for a very reasonable price. Friendly and fast service. Lots of regulars that staff knew by name. Would definitely return to try a sub during lunch time. read more

Great service, great location, and plenty to choose from. Town Pantry is my new go-to quick stop. I stop in almost every day for a $1.49 large fountain soda (the cheapest I've found in the area by far), but I've also had the pleasure of trying the breakfast bagel sandwiches (the sausage, egg, and hash is the best one), the incredible deep dish pizza for lunch, and they've saved me a trip to the grocery store more than once when I've needed cream cheese, an onion, or any other singular item my dinner recipe couldn't succeed without. The staff is friendly, especially the fiery red head who works most days, and the store is always clean and easy to navigate. Great little easily accessible and close to home corner store that I'll continue to visit as long as I'm in Winchester and as long as it's open. read more

Homemade Breakfast Sandwich - the mecca for the breaky sandwich...someone told me and I did not have faith and now I am a believer and know without a glimmer of a doubt that you will be too!!! I pass through this town from time to time and The Town Pantry seemed (to me) like a Cumberland Farms-- but take a closer look and there is a gourmet deli-- with the star being the breakfast items, you can get on an english muffin, quality bagel and a "knotty" roll! They make homemade hash browns which they recc you include on the sandwich and I agree, anyway the real deal and maybe the best way I've had anywhere? Then they have high quality cold cuts to buy as well -- anyway, hidden gem, and now you know!!! I would say a best egg sandwich in the country... dead serious. The food is awesome, the coffee is awesome. The people that work there are all incredibly super nice. I don't know the mama name that's there every morning when I get my coffee but he's great. First thing's first: I will NEVER call this place Town Pantry. It will forever be White Hen in my eyes, and anyone elses who's grown up in Winchester for that matter. Aahh, so many fond memories surrounding this place. From rebelling against Ma's "final word" as a small child and biking here with friends to beef up our candy stash and get hopped up on slurpees, to visiting Late-Night Johnny at 3am to scoop up a few Grape Dutchies for a little nightcap treat back in my high school daze (see what I did there?). And how could I forget the many occasions I've relied on that nasty bathroom in back to prevent me from having an accident in the backseat of my DD's car? *Sigh* I will always hold a very dear place in my heart for White Hen. Now that I'm entering my more mature, adult life, I can appreciate the finer things about this Winchester staple. For example, they carry fresh Scali bread and Piantedosi French bread, neither of which can be found at Stop & Shop down the street. They also carry a small selection of fresh produce, which can be pretty clutch if you're missing an essential item for dinner and don't feel like entering the vast abyss of S&S. They have fresh deli meats, too! Not to mention CHEAP! Solid. The only thing that sucks about this place is the fact that it's 2012 and they *still* don't accept credit cards. I mean c'amaaaan! There *is* an ATM in store, but who wants to get hit with a $5 surcharge just to buy a blunt and a packa gum?! Whatever, I'm being a brat. It's open 24/7 and is a true hallmark of Winchester, so as far as I'm concerned it can do whatever the f$@& it wants! ***Edit - it's no longer open 24/7 =( This bad Larry closes around midnight these days. In search of ever-elusive Sugar Babies, I chanced upon the Town Pantry this evening. Side-stepping the massive Ford F-150 which was pulled up almost nose-to-nose with the front door (driver-less with engine running no less) I entered the establishment, Immediately noticing that the only other patron in the place was mask-less. As I scanned the candy aisle, I overheard the older gent behind the counter and said patron discussing with great gusto their overpriced and demonstrably shitty seats for an upcoming Bruins game. Grabbing my caramel bounty, I approached the counter, as the proprietor busied himself drawing a map of said shit seats on a napkin, to the curmudgeonly delight of the maskless, idling-and-obnoxiously-parked truck owner. As they continued to chew the fat about seats that suck and associated highway robbery, the shop boy/butcher/suckass seat expert ambled over to the deli case and selected a sweaty blob of white cheese, with which he gesticulated wildly to emphasize his increasingly impassioned exhortations. Presently he set to almost lovingly slicing the cheese in a rather impressive deli apparatus, still pontificating and extemporizing on the banality of modern day sports arenas. At no point during this manly airing of the grievances, was I acknowledged, never mind enabled to make a transaction. Eventually, despite my mounting craving for the jaw breaking treat I had clasped in my very hand, I could not broker an inner peace with this abject disregard. My revenge, you ask? I summarily tossed the bag of Sugar Babies back in with the Now and Laters and exited The Town Pantry, once more shimmying past the belching Dodge Mega Cab Ram 3500, and drove off into the night, candy-less yet breathing the free air once again. So to sum up Dear Reader, if you want banter about craptastic seats at The Garden, maskless patrons, and errant slices of tasteless provolone, the Town Pantry is where it's at. But if you want a reasonably paced transaction and easily accessed high fructose corn syrup, take your business elsewhere. read more

I just find the 7-11's too cold and unwelcoming same with the Exxon station and such. Its more personable at the town pantry and friendlier. You feel like a person when you come in there and are treated respectfully. I have never had a bad experience at the town pantry. Every employee is great who I have interacted with. It is not a place to go just for lottery tickets and cigarettes. There are sandwiches, food, and friends . it is a place where you run into people you haven't seen in a while and share a good laugh with Johnny at night. I don't think it deserves a 1 star rating!!!! if you don't like it don't shop there. 3 maybe would be the least..but I give it five. Town pantry has saved my butt on many occasions. It's so common for me to have all the ingredients except one to make dinner, but I'm too tired to make a big time commitment to a supermarket and negotiate a giant supermarket parking lot. Town pantry to the rescue, I'm in and out in 90 seconds with my cheese, or french bread, or onion, and on my way home to my recipe. Most of the other convenience stores around have become places with 1,000 beverages, 100 types of potato chips, and stale pastry. This is a true convenience store with a respectable variety. It's a nice bonus that there's a friendly wine store next door, too. Open 24/7. read more
