I loved Wegmans and always shopped on Alberta Road since they opened in 1977, the year I got married. Over the years the prices crept up faster than some of the other stores. Not as bad as Tops who should be ashamed of themselves. Getting back to Wegmans, they are just too expensive. The produce is great as are their meat, bakery, deli and cheese selections. No one ever says they do not sell quality items. However, so do many other stores like Dashes. I shop where I can afford to and Wegmans is out of my reach now. read more

How many grains can you name? OK, if you can name more than 8 grains off the top of your head, you are truly one of those sallow faced, pasty looking, vegans that are a true buzz kill for most foodies. Wegman's has just come out with this super healthy bread that has 27 grains in it and I have to tell you I had to look up: Emmer, Red Fife, and Teff. Moreover, word check had to add "emmer and teff" because the software thought they were made up words. Try using those words the next time you play scrabble and see if you don't get laughed out of the game and get a royal challenge thrown at you. Either way this bread is extraordinary. They remodeled in recent years so this location is even more awesome than how I remember it from school. They have an extensive hot buffet section and sushi section with very fair prices. There is also a second floor sitting area for people who need somewhere to sit and hang out or study. Their bakery section is amazing and they always have a bunch of beautiful tarts on display. My absolute favorite cake ever is their Strawberry Chiffon cake! Their cakes are delicious, high quality and very reasonable priced at around $15 dollars for a 8 inch cake. You can also order your cake if you don't see anything you like at the display. Their floral section used to be located near the entrance but they have moved it over to the produce section and expanded their selection to include a lot of small floral arrangements, like mini tabletop bouquets. I have to say first and foremost I love the Wegmans shopping experience typically. This one however has provided 2 very poor experiences now in 6 months. The first was back in August. I had broken my knee and to properly shop I was forced to use one of the electric powered carts. I expect the public to be rude from time to time, what I don't expect is the staff of the establishment I'm at, to be rude as well. I had an employee push me out of the way 2x while there on this occasion. I say push, because I either had to stop/move, or hit them with the cart I was in. Second irritation happened today. If you post your hours as 9pm for the prepared foods section, I don't expect them to be closed at 8:30. No one at the registers and all food preparers cleaning up, soda machine off, etc. It was open before this. Every week I come here on Tuesday night's and it seems they close earlier every week. I know if I leave work early every day I get fired. Of course Wegmans as a whole is my favorite supermarket, but I avoid this one (the Alberta Dr location) like the plague. I'd much rather go to the one on Sheridan in Williamsville. It may be smaller by a little but if I've ever had a concern they have been wonderful in resolving it. read more

I know I'm repeating what's been said in the past posts about this place but Wegmans is seriously my favorite place in the entire world. I have an unhealthy obsession with the store. It's impossible for me to go in for just five minutes to grab something quick. It's like a hobby of mine to shop here and I will easily spend two hours looking around. This place has EVERYTHING and then some. The cafe section of Wegmans has a wide range selection of coffees including house blends, hazelnut both regular and decaf and chocolate raspberry. There is a decent selection of teas as well. There is asian food, subs, wraps, huge salad bar, large selection of soups, sushi, pizza; I mean the possibilities are endless. It's almost frustrating to come here because I can never make up my mind and I always want a little bit of everything. The bakery is HUGE and has anything you could dream of. There is a Mediterranean bar with greek yogurt sauce, cheeses olives you name it. Build your own trail mix? Is that a serious feature of this store; yes it is. Granola, raisins, craisins, chocolate bits, yogurt bits, chocolate chips, almonds, sunflower seeds, the list goes on and on. Seriously a genius idea. The selection of cheeses is just insane. The organic section is so big it could be a separate store of its own. There is a selection of organic chocolate you can put in a bag to be weighed along with freshly crunched peanut butter. Then there's the other section of the place which has your typical standard grocery items. The craft beer selection is awesome. Goose Island, DogFish, Sixpoint, Lagunitas, Victory, all of these big time craft beer breweries are here. The bulk candy aisle, seriously so dangerous. They have everything and have a decent selection of no sugar added candy which is nice because at least you can pretend you're being healthy by adding some of those options into your goodie bag. It's a special treat coming to this store and I am SO sad that there isn't one close to my home. I will say this, I am not looking forward to going home to Stop and Shop and Waldbaums. Cringing just thinking about it actually. I may start an open a Wegmans on Long Island movement, if one hasn't been started already. Another major reason why I am giving this store five stars is because I had such a pleasant experience with customer service the other night. I came into Wegmans very late and had an issue with a package of organic granola that I had purchased minutes before. I presented my problem to customer service and was helped by both a young lady and young man. I had asked for a manager and at first I was annoyed that the "manager" was a girl who looked younger than me and I'm in my early twenties. I explained my problem and this woman couldn't have been more professional and polite. I wish I caught her name so I could mention her customer service because it was impeccable. I've always loved Wegmans during my stay in Buffalo, but I didn't know that I'd miss Wegmans this much ever since I moved back to NYC/Jersey City. None of the supermarkets down here seem so classy and nicely organized. I really miss the (mostly) fresh produce and the pay per pound candy/nuts/dried fruits. It was a baking staple for me and now I have to buy packaged chocolate chips and cranberries and stuff. They also have some awesome garlic tuscan bread that even carb-phobic me is craving for at this moment. So as a plea to all of you out there, do not take Wegmans for granted because it has left a sad hole in my life now that I have no Wegmans. :( read more

Not much to say about Wegmans other than it rocks. If you choose Tops over Wegmans we probably aren't friends. They have huge varieties of fresh produce, and an extensive meat/deli/cheese/bakery. The staff are always super helpful unlike other grocery stores, and the prepared food section is top notch. I've said it before and I'll say it again; when I'm rich, the first thing I am purchasing is a salad bar identical to wegmans. Its an awesome option for lunch when you can't decide what to get. Wegmans has been my all time favorite grocery store since I have moved to buffalo 9 years ago. It is always neat and clean there and always is fully stocked with high quality food and has all kind of options to satisfy all cultures and religions and tastes. There is always enough people on staff and I even heard that wegmans employees are the happiest employees . They recently remodeled the Wegmans on Alberta drive and it looks so nice and fancy now! The market cafe has great options for lunch or dinner with a while list of different options to eat with great tastes! My favorite is the sushi bar and I always end up getting a roll or two every time I stop in to grocery shop. Their cheese bar is also a great thing to check out, with a huge assortment of all kinds of cheeses from all over the world and being a cheese lover myself I just cannot resist. I can go on and on about how great Wegmans is and the list can go on forever! I'm just happy that Buffalo has a great grocery store like Wegmans and the quality of the store itself has been consistent if not better as the years go by! read more

Wegmans is great for not only a good selection of groceries but you can get lunch or dinner there as well. I'm a fan of the pizza and the sushi most of all. You can download the app and make your shopping list and see what aisle your desired items live in which is super convenient. I also like alot of their own brand items because they are the same good quality but a little more cost-effective. read more

Wegmans' doesn't need another positive review. Always great and always able to find things you can't find anywhere else. Expect to come here and drop a couple hundred (regularly) on all their amazing stuff. The store brand is usually more than acceptable. I highly recommend the sushi as well, very fresh and be sure to pick up a container of spicy sauce to go with it. The bathrooms are also a win. I travel from Toronto to Buffalo twice a year to shop at Wegmans, and this location on Alberta drive is hands down my favourite! The staff are all great, I am always so impressed with the level of customer service here, friendly, helpful and always going that extra mile for customers! The ability to look up items online and find out where they are located using the store map is incredibly helpful since I have chronic arthritis pain and walk with a cane - saving a few steps by planning a route through the store means a lot. A great store for organic choices and the ready made foods are great, their subs are the best! The beer selection at this store is better than consumers beverage, and I appreciate getting both groceries and beer in one trip. The weird thing is, Wegmans brand of organic milk is the best I have ever tasted - better than even Vermont, land of organic milk! I wish we had a Wegmans in Toronto! read more

Wegmans is the place to go for any and all of your grocery needs!! I got a mocha banana smoothie from the coffee shop. It was sweet and delicious! They also sell great iced and hot coffee. Their sushi is made fresh daily and is some of the best I've ever had. The Philadelphia and California rolls are my favorite. They have an enormous prepared foods section that includes everything from subs, to pizza, to salads and meats. All of the prepared food I've gotten from there is always fresh and delicious! Their regular and organic produce sections are always stocked with a variety of fruits and veggies. They offer family packs and individually wrapped meat, as well as normal portions. They have pre seasoned chicken and ribs that are all delicious. One of my favorite parts of wegmans is the organic section. It is much larger than the organic section at tops and has so many different choices. If I need ANYTHING wegmans is my go to place. From flowers, to food, to beer, to Tupperware. I love Wegmans. Some days/times are more fun than others to shop but I do love the variety of items that are available. On this visit, I was picking up a birthday cake for my mom and some other food items. Found the cake quickly and decided to get the ready to eat meals and sweet potato sushi for the week. I also picked up some regular groceries. That is what makes Weggies so special - I can go in and get the items to make a phenomenal meal OR they will have items that I just need to pop in the microwave or oven that are just as delicious. They also rotate the items that they serve so there is a wide variety of yummy goodness (but be careful of the carryout buffet foods - it is really easy to drop $20 on dinner because of the weight of the food in the container!) The service at Wegmans is also decent. The folks at the registers seem to be a bit nicer than those behind the counters in the food areas (although I cant generalize - some are simply wonderful). I also enjoy the non-grocery items that are available such as the floral section and the home goods. I can always find something that I didn't know I need! The themed items for holidays are also super cool and fun!! Lastly, if you have never ordered from the catering menu, you should. Wegmans is what every supermarket should be. The deli has excellent cold cuts, try any of the organic ones! Excellent selection of local fruits and vegetables and they even tell you who and where the local farmers are. Lots of choices if you are looking for take-out food. This Wegman's hosts probably the best prepared foods section of all Wegman's stores I've been to thus far. Though, it's a toss up between this location and Sheridan Drive. I eat lunch here almost everyday, since it's a hop, skip, and jump from UB North Campus. Their Indian food is probably the best I've had (yes, seriously)- especially their samosas. The sesame chicken is definitely the best of it's variety, and they now offer lots of dim sum options- the soft steamed shrimp pockets (can't remember the actual name) are my favorite. The salad bar is awesome, sushi is delish, and honestly I think there's something for everyone here when it comes to lunch time. I like to grab a yogurt (Wegman's Greek Black Cherry is my fave!) to have along side my meal and sometimes I opt for an Honest Tea from the organic/healthy section. It'd be nice if these options were right up in the Market Cafe so I could grab and go instead of having to trek all the way to the back of the store. Love this store! But afterall, it is a crazy-busy Wegman's and lunch hour is no exception to the oodles of foot (and cart!) traffic. read more

My dad thinks that I am picky about food but in reality I am just not down with the red meat, pork, chicken and pretty much whatever else he likes so he took us to Wegmans, out of desperation. This place rocked! Set up just like a Whole Foods and with food bars just like it, it felt like a lil' piece of home. My favorite part was the recycling deposit machines at the front inside the store. If there were a Wegmans here in the O.C. I would shop here for sure. After shopping at Whole Foods, Wegmans is shockingly disappointing. Actually, some of the Wegmans that we visited in DC were far nicer than the ones in Buffalo. Wegmans does stock a great selection of international foods. They have an impressive collection of English treats and Indian spices. However, the selection of meat and cheese is horrible. First of all, they have very little 'healthy' (hormone/cruelty-free) meat. What you can find is extremely expensive and of mediocre quality. The quality and selection of meat at Whole Foods is significantly better and cheaper. The prepared food items are grim, but the subs are very good. They have few varieties of cheese to choose from. They don't stock any of our favorite French cheeses (except the feta that we like). If you are looking for cheddar, you are in the right place. But if you want to find anything out of the ordinary or slightly exotic, then you might as well visit Aldi or Wilson Farms. We really wish that a Whole Foods would open in Buffalo. It would significantly increase the quality of our lives here. Before I discovered Whole Foods, I thought that Wegmans was a high-end grocery store. But now that I have a appreciated the beauty and magic of Whole Foods, my grocery shopping experience at Wegmans sad and unfulfilling. One more comment: What is with all of the junk food at Wegmans and most American grocery stores? Do people really eat it? At least a third of what Wegmans sells is processed junk that can barely pass as food. read more

For every UB student that lives close by north campus, this is your essential Wegmans. But while there are other Wegmans out there, this Wegmans seems better than the rest. Maybe it's their fresh bakery section. Maybe it's the customer service. Maybe it's the delicious hot food area. What ever the case may be, this is the store that made me a Wegmans fan. My problem with this store is the unprofessionalism of their manager, Ashley. My family loves Wegman's and my kids loved WKids. Unfortunately, they have been all closed down. Alberta Drive is the last one until today. I called Wegmans to see if they would be interested in selling one of their Wii games. All of the employees were very polite on the phone. They all thought the items in WKids were only being offered for sale to the employees as a fundraiser but I should speak to Ashley to ask her. When I tried to call and speak with Ashley she wouldn't even take my call. How can you be a Front-End manager and refuse to even speak with a customer. I will no longer be shopping at this Wegmans because I no longer feel comfortable here. Wegmans is supposed to be "your neighborhood" grocer...this one has greatly missed their mark. I have been coming to this Wegmans for years. I love this place, I practically live here. Their assortment of grass-fed and organic meats is awesome. I'm a big of the strip steaks. I am also impressed with the quality of their produce and assortment of beers. The staff is always helpful which is nice. Anything I need, they are on it. This place got me through college with their 6$ meals and their pre-made meals and for that, I am thankful. One negative: right when UB is about to start, this place gets cleaned out and is madhouse. My first thought stepping inside Wegmans was "it's a cross between a Whole Foods and a Walmart!" There's a section of bargain goods to cater to all the students at UB, and there's the awesome prepared foods section. The rest of the supermarket doesn't stand out quite as much, but I do remember a good selection of local fruits and international foods too. I love this store! I wish that there were stores where I live, but I only get to go to this place when I visit Buffalo. There's an amazing deli/butcher/sea food/prepared section. Pair that with the cut/cleaned produce area, and meal prep is a snap! The store also has excellent cheese, natural food, and alcohol sections. If you don't want to do any cooking, you can stop by the restaurant area. My only complaint is that the store is a bit pricey. I order 2 of pizza from wagman on 675 Alberta dr Amheast ny on Thursday feb 25 . one was cheese and pepperoni pizza. The second was created ur own with roasted garlic and chicken and some vegetables. When I got home the pepperoni pizza was fine but the create ur own pizza was burnt on the bottom. I wish that I could add a picture of the burnt pizza on this review. read more

Always fresh and never disappointing (except for when you see that the unsweetened banana chips (1.99/lb) are out of stock.) Baby carrots, bags of salad, sliced 100% whole wheat bread, plain low fat yogurt, roasted red potato hummus, fra diavolo pasta sauce, pb, shredded wheat cereal, old fashioned oats, tortilla chips, fresh frozen vegetables. All Wegmans brand, all the time. Always cheaper and always comparable in quality, if not better. (And Wegmans has competitive prices.) I can go on and on about the freshness of their produce and quality of their "store brand" products. I am in nutrition heaven when I enter this fine establishment they simply call a grocery store. WEGMANS IS DOPE. I've been going to Wegmans for as long as I can remember. I lived in Rochester most of my life before I moved to Buffalo a couple years ago and this Wegmans is right near my new house. Wegs has everything you need and all the things you never knew you wanted. Their prepared foods section is creative and extensive, produce is always extremely fresh, and customer service is wonderful. I like the convenience of the self check out station because sometimes I don't feel like talking to anyone, especially if it's late at night. My favorite part about Wegmans is they have a "family pack" of eggs for super cheap, which is almost always cheaper than any of the other stores I visit for groceries. I very highly recommend any and everyone to visit this wonderful upstate New York staple! read more

I must completely disagree that this is a whole foods-trader Joe's mash-up. It is similar in (high) prices, but that's about it. It is a grocery store with a large produce and organic food section, but I don't think it's comparable to WF or TJ's. That being said, I like it for particular things. They have good produce, and I like the bargain pack deals. Other than that, I find it to be a little expensive. I have caught some good sales here on awesome produce, but it's not where I would stock my kitchen. Their deli is great, and it is the only grocery store I would buy my deli meat from. They doubled my coupons when I was there, but it was unclear if that was their regular policy. I found their bulk foods section disappointing...where are the grains, beans, etc.? Also, the aisles are tiny. So 4 stars for produce, meats, and organics. 3 stars for pricing. read more
