When it comes to grocery stores, there are your run if the mill type, super stores, corner store variety, and then there is Wegmans. I think it would be fair to call this the Disneyland of grocery stores. This place has everything you could want...from a coffee bar, hot food area, old world bakery, fresh produce section, flower shop, kosher deli, gourmet cheese shop, beer store, and pharmacy. I can't sing the praises of wegmans enough. The selection of food items is out of this world and the prices are very reasonable. The only negative is that the store can get crowded at times, but that's to be expected. read more

Used to be a tops shopper. This place is so much better. I've found that the prices are often better. It's a much warmer environment. Smells good if you are in there at the right times. Larger and better selection. The only thing tops has that wegmans doesn't(which is something I wish they would change)....cape cod kettle cooked sweet and spicy jalapeño. This store is awesome! Great section for cooked food fresh in store, complete with a cafe! Their large cheese pizzas are $10, a steal! They also have an amazing natural skin care aisle with great organic, (vegetarian and vegan) lines that do not test on animals and are very healthy for the skin. Very good deals on "family sized" bulk items, so keep those in mind when going there. Friendly personnel who will always assist you and even help you with your groceries! read more

First of all, I have to tell you, I LOVE Wegmans!! When we recently moved to Amherst, I was ecstatic that there was a store just a half mile away!! The food is fresh and they offer up a GREAT variety of groceries! I have to say there subs are EXCELLENT!! I'd give them 5 stars, but lately I feel their prices are going up!! Not too noticeable initially, but now it's pretty noticeable!! Disappointing for sure!! Will I still shop there? Hard to beat Wegmans. Fruits and veggies are always fresh here. Specialty breads (cheese, garlic, Pain de Campagne) never disappoint and so many of their signature items are really top notch as well, especially their decaf medium roast coffee. The large selection of prepared foods are also a treat when time is short. Tons of variety and always tasty. Consistently great service and a friendly staff. Overall, a very fine market. read more

Ok so everybody loves Wegmans right? Well, It's ok i guess. I loved it better about maybe two years ago? Any way, I think they are trying too hard. I went to the Wokery oh i HATED it. There options are limited. I wish they never included Asian food! Plus they took out the sushi bar! I LOVE SEA FOOD, and they took it out! But other than that they have a good selection of GROCERIES i guess. Maybe they should stop trying to impress everyone. But they are, like i said, a great grocery store. Best Subs in the area hands down! Bacon Cheeseburger sub is amazing and is my new favorite sub these days. Danny's Favorite is pretty good too! We also like the Chicken Finger Sub and the Meatball Sub. Line can get very long around dinner hour so get there somewhat early of call in your order ahead of time if you can. Sub makers are friendly for the most part and are pretty good at what they do. Plenty of dining space and good scenery. 5 Stars! read more

Wegman's seafood subs are amazing!! This is the go-to place where my son and I like to grab a bite. The sandwiches are reasonably priced and fresh. I haven't found a restaurant sub that can top theirs! The atmosphere is also comfortable to sit down, relax and eat. I love it there. read more

The staff is knowledgeable and helpful but I hate all of the changes they are making to the store. They no longer carry a few items in specifically went to Wegmans for. My daughters love to go to the play place and the cooking instruction classes are fun! Great assortment of prepared foods. read more

Just returned a sub I bought here. I asked for oil on it and when I got home and opened it up, took a few bites it was like the exon-Valdez oil spill. The lettuce was not dressed in oil it was dripping wet drenched. The outside of the bag was covered in oil that had leaked out through the waxed paper wrapping. Closing now between midnight and 6am. That's when I do most of my grocery shopping (I work 3- 11 but usually don't get done till 1130ish), but don't worry, I was turning off of Wegmans anyway. First they changed the recipe of the in store baked breads making them have the flavor and texture of cardboard. Their produce has gotten shady: 6 packs of bell peppers usually have at least one rotten one in there and the spring mix red leaf lettuce is usually rotten and slimy while the rest of the lettuce is ok. The farmer's cheese weighs less but costs more, but the straw that broke this camel's back was the coffee: they decreased the weight by TEN OUNCES (not one or two, but TEN!) but kept the price THE SAME! I know that manufacturers often decrease the amount of product and keep the price the same but ten ounces from the big can of coffee makes it a medium can of coffee for the price of a big can of coffee--lucky us. The one thing I liked is that I could go after my shift at the hospital, zoom through without having to navigate around all the soccer moms and their screaming brats perched in those stupid car carts and all the mesmerized old people milling about the green banana display and get all my groceries in a matter of 15 minutes. But now, they will be closing at midnight, forcing me to get my provisions after work at TOPS (bad) or WalMart (worse), or I can get up a bit early, go before work, and go to Aldi or Trader Joe's. I know the loss of my business won't make a difference to Wegmans, but they keep pulling the same crap and more people will bail...it's not like there aren't a BUNCH of options here in the Sheridan/Bailey neighborhood. read more

Might be I caught them on a bad day. maybe the established Wegmans in Buffalo are not as nice as the new flagship store in Boston. But what a terrible disappointment. Produce looked pretty picked over. Variety much more limited than boston. Prices as outrageous as ever. But the worst was when I tried buying Wegmans brand salad greens. Luckily I noticed that my container had mold growing through lettuce before I bought it. Then realized entire lot had similar mold. Bought some greens from another lot. This container went bad within three days of purchase. Ended up having to throw out about 50% of what I bought. Only good news : open 24 hrs. Caveat emptor tho! read more

Seriously, this place is the best store they have in Buffalo...and the one that I go to most. It was the original 2 floor store back in 1998 after it moved from across the parking lot. I have to say that you can find virtually anything in this place and now with a specialty beer section that was just added, you can really find virtually anything. Just watch out on weekends because you will be shopping in a mass of humanity. read more

I have actually been meaning to send a letter to the manager of this store, a thank you letter, but in doing some other Yelp reviews this evening, I thought hey here is a good place to say it. I am always impressed with Wegmans in general. Used to be an employee in another town years ago. I have to say out of all the Wegamns stores I have been to, this one just makes me especially happy every time I go. For one, for me, it is in walking distance from home, so that is EXCELLENT! :) - Secondly, the employees are very friendly. I had an employee come up to me yesterday and give me a nice compliment, and it made my day. Who does that these days? It doesn't happen a lot any more in business culture. This happens when you have happy employees :-). Thirdly, in the cafe they always keep it fun and upbeat with music, whether recorded or live groups. I RESPECT this, because it shows an EXTRA effort to care for the community -- a) by being good and fun to customers, but by also, b) by building a sense of community -- giving community musical groups opportunities to share their talent and fostering a sense of fun and happiness in the community. This is the kind of good community service that is so needed now, when often business today cheat, scam, are selfish, or just really don't care about being good to people or their community. This store makes me proud to live in Amherst. In fact, I have a level of pride living here I have not had living any place else. Thank you food goodness! :-) read more
