I was quite last minute looking for a bridesmaid's dress. I am not one that can shop online with success so I was calling around to see where I could try some things on. I was able to get an appointment within less than 2 hours at the 1201 side (across the street from the "main" location) to try on bridesmaids dresses. I went in not expecting to leave with anything, I'm not often a dress-wearer and quite picky about how they fit. Heidi was my stylist, we talked about color and size and she brought back a handful of dresses for me to try with different cuts and styles. I didn't expect to have so many options to try even after talking on the phone while making the appointment so having options was a great surprise! I tried on about 6 dresses, and could see myself wearing all of them, a shock to me! I ended up purchasing a dress I would not have picked for myself if Heidi hadn't gave it as an option. She was great, always immediately on the curtain ready to help zip/tie dresses as needed and talk through the differences. Safe to say my dress shopping as a first time bridesmaid went well!!!!! I ended up getting a size 12 dress, but normally am more of a 14/16 which was also a surprise to me when it fit well, another thing I wouldn't have known if Heidi wasn't there. They don't offer alterations in house which I hope they change soon! But offered a list of trustworthy folks to go to, which is appreciated. read more

Had an appointment to go wedding dress shopping with a friend here. We went on a Saturday morning and it was packed. We had a private room where half of it could be curtained off for the bride to change into dresses, and we were able to sit in the other half of the room the entire appointment. There were a bunch of seats available in the room which was really nice. The stylist was so friendly and after hearing my friend's preferences, grabbed a variety of dresses that matched what she was looking for. I was BEYOND excited to spend my 30th birthday trying on wedding dresses. And The Wedding Shoppe was the best choice for our first stop! Our stylist was Lindsey and after meeting her she took us to our private room upstairs. Lindsey was VERY helpful and attentive during the whole thing and really calmed my nerves! I ended up finding my dress (!!) but didn't purchase it at my appointment. I had an amazing experience at the Wedding Shoppe and absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a wedding dress! It's important to make a reservation online as I don't think they do any walk ins. You are able to bring a group of people with you which is really nice! We had our own private space and met with the stylist who looked at some inspiration photos I had and brought up a lot of dresses that might fit that idea. I had told her some things I really didn't think I wanted in a dress and things that I did think I wanted and the selection she brought had plenty of dressed that fit my criteria but also expanded my mind to be open to other styles which I really appreciated! She took the feedback I had on each dress and used it to pick even better selections on the second round. I ended up with a dress that I personally never would have grabbed off the rack and I absolutely loved how unique it was and the price point was incredible for the quality of the dress! I would say the only drawback for me was I wanted to experience getting to pull some of my own dresses to try and didn't get that but I would have honestly been too overwhelmed to do that with their massive selection. The measurements they took and sizing they reccomended ended up being perfect. They also gave me an estimated time that the dress would be delivered by and it ended up coming months earlier which was a huge bonus. I have now visited The Wedding Shoppe twice and both experiences have been exceptional, largely because of the incredible staff. My first appointment was with Rachel, who was wonderful. She listened carefully to exactly what I was looking for and pulled dresses that matched my vision. She also brought me a few wild cards that were outside of what I originally described, and those actually ended up being some of my favorite gowns. When I came back for a second visit, I worked with Andrea. I came in already having purchased a gown elsewhere that I was not totally happy with, and Andrea handled my situation with so much kindness and empathy. She never made me feel judged, asked thoughtful questions, and genuinely helped me work through what I wanted and didn't want. Her background growing up in a family of wedding gown makers and seamstresses meant she could explain in specific detail how gowns vary across sizes, which was invaluable knowledge I hadn't necessarily gotten elsewhere. I also have to mention Amber, whose energy was infectious from the moment I walked in. She jumped in to help Andrea pull dresses for me -- based purely on what Andrea told her I'd responded to -- and ended up selecting my favorite dress of the entire appointment. We got here right at 12 for my appointment on a Saturday and didn't get placed in a room util 12:20/12:30, which was strange. It also was SUPER busy and chaotic as soon as we walked in, there were people and staff all looking around at dresses and it was a bit of a stressful environment. When we got to the room, my consultant asked me about what I liked/didn't like and she went and grabbed dresses that fit my taste! She was super helpful and great! One thing that threw me off was that the room that you try dresses on in is only separated from the outside by a curtain, and as I was getting ready to try on a dress another consultant popped in... luckily I was still fully clothed, but I would've been super uncomfortable if not. Overall I did find my dress there, and it was below my budget which was nice, I am a little bit nervous, because the dress that I tried on was a size 16 and just a little bit too tight, but she recommended me get a size 20... So we'll see how the alteration process goes.!! The main area also seemed to calm down as we were leaving, but 3/5 stars for the beginning of the appointment. read more

I found my dress at my first appointment and the stylist admitted she was new, but still did a great job at pulling dresses that I liked and answering my questions. When it came to the ordering process, I appreciated that she found a more experienced stylist to help with measurements and ordering to ensure that it was all done correctly. When I picked up my dress, it almost fit perfectly! Just a few minor alterations needed. My two bridesmaids and I came here to find bridesmaid dresses, and we all had a wonderful experience. Our consultant, Rae, was great. She listened to what I was thinking (I came in with a specific style, brand, and what colors I wanted), and she was able to pick out exactly what we wanted. We were there for a little over 30 minutes, and she commented that we were the easiest and fastest group she had had that day. I guess it helps to be Type A and know exactly what you want! Cute little botique in St. Paul. Adequate parking in lot and on street. Quite a large selection of dresses and sizes to choose from, however they are VERY expensive. The staff are mostly helpful and respectful. The only reason for 3 stars is that I had such a hassle when I received my bridesmaids dress that was 3 sizes too big. I was told I provided measurements over the phone, which I did NOT. I was then told that I should get it altered myself. Went to a seamstress and it would have cost the price of the dress to get it altered. To my surprise, they did offer their seamstress to alter the dress for a discounted price, which turned out okay. Umm they are alright. Except I ordered the dress the beginning of March and now they are saying the dress won't arrive until sometime in July.. and the wedding is the beginning of August. They aren't sewing or custom making the dress so I don't know what it could possibly take so long. Even if it's coming from another country there is no reason for it to take that long. Due to Covid the bridal party had to try on dresses in two groups on two different dates. They said they had taken notes on what the previous group had picked out, but they must have misplaced them because they were really not much help. We were all getting different dresses in a similar color so they suggested looking online at styles. Well I guess I'm not very good at that and trying to sort by color and seeing dresses in different colors come up was a bit confusing to me. Then they would let us look at any of the racks of dresses in person to pick a style. The dress selection is amazing. I was at 3 other boutiques before I stopped here, and their selection doesn't even compare to Wedding Shoppe. Finding my wedding gown- I felt my sales associate understood exactly what I wanted. She had good insight and the process was NOT PUSHY! They also stay within your budget. My gown arrived on time and without any issues. I ordered 5 months advance, and it only took 10 weeks. My bridal party dresses- I had 8. I was stressed about ordering all these, but again it was so easy. One dress was an incorrect size, and they overnighted the correct size, still with 8 weeks to get alterations before the wedding. Fantastic customer service there! My flower girl- there was a misunderstanding in timing of ordering her dress (oops!) After we ordered, They called me right away, and made it all happen anyways. The dress arrived in time and was perfect. Tuxes- super easy for everyone. We had 15 total With ring bearer, ushers and dads, all guys went in on their own time, a couple picked them up the Friday before. Two of them didn't fit right, but they have a in-site seamstress who fixed it right away. The guys looked great! Smooth as can be. Buyer beware! I was told by my bridal stylists here that they don't work on commission. There is a tip line added to your bill when you pay for your dress. No other Bridal Salon does this. Such a shady business practice! Pay your employees better so the customers don't have to make up for the cost of running your business. I ordered a belt that the stylist put on me. When I got home and looked at it, I noticed that it looked different. I went to look at my pictures that were taken the day of trying on the dress and belt and noticed it didn't have the pearls on it. So I returned it. Not the biggest deal, but I was annoyed by the lack of detail that was put in when ordering it along with my dress. I was put off when I went to pick up my dress at the store. I took a look at it and noticed the back of the dress was all wrinkled along with parts of the front of the dress. I was told that was normal and that my seamstress can get the wrinkles out. You think the place that made the dress would pack and ship the dress with more care so it wouldn't come wrinkled. The biggest disappointment was when I got home to hang up the dress and it still had the plastic covering on, I noticed that there was a slight stain on the dress. It was very faint, but noticeable. I took that plastic off and took a picture of the dress and emailed immediately about my concern. The response from customer service was that it happens sometime and that I can go to my seamstress and have her get it out or come in to have their seamstress look at it. Now I am going to have to spend more money in addition to the high cost of the dress and the tip I left because of the poor condition it came in. So if you don't mind getting the wrong item and having to take time out of your busy schedule to return it and getting a wrinkled dress with a stain on it that they won't take responsibility for, go here at your own risk. read more

I've been to The Wedding Shoppe several times over the last decade or so for others and twice for myself, and I have to say, not my favorite place. I think their approach to wedding dresses isn't great; so many people would rather be able to browse a little, which I think would be beneficial to do just the bride and stylist so the stylist gets a better idea of what they like. When I was there last, there were some specific dresses I wanted to see, and didn't see any of them. I've also had it happen twice that I've shown or talked about what my top pick for a dress was (that wasn't in their shop), and they told me they could order it for me and threw in some kind of discount. Also pushing an app on me for finding menswear. While many may view that as nice, I felt it more on the sketchy side and like they were just trying to steal business. I don't know if they're paid on commission or what, but there is a feeling of pressure when you're there like you're expected to purchase something or you're just a waste of time. I can only describe the entire experience as icky. This may be a silly one, but I know I'm not alone and I have to call it out... I f#*^ing HATE when I get promotional emails when I didn't sign up for them. I hate it even more when an unsubscribe button isn't present on a single email. Just bad business practice. THAT BEING SAID, it's a cute space, the people I've worked with for the most part have been very helpful and kind, and they do have a large selection of beautiful gowns! I think if you're someone who isn't sure at all what you want, this might be a good place to start because they will just pull dresses for you and you can figure out what works for you. I would just say to stand your ground, becuase they'll probably want you to buy same-day. Bridal Gown Shopping: 5/5 My mom, MOH, and I got a large private room for try-ons. We went at 10am on a Monday. This was my first time shopping and the stylist was very helpful. She asked a few questions then grabbed a ton of dresses for me to try on in our 1.5 hour appt. Every dress was beautiful, and I had a few favorites, but ultimately walked away. Bridesmaid Dress Shopping: 2.5/5 3 of my bridesmaids and I made an appt for 10am on a Saturday. We were crammed into a tiny room and the stylist was not very helpful.. I said i'd like to see some Kennedy Blue dresses, so she grabbed different shades of the color I wanted. We asked what the process was and how we figure out sizes and styles we like and she just wasn't answering questions! She started bringing us more styles and wasn't rude by any means, just quiet. At the end, she took measurements and my bridesmaids still left not knowing their size. Wow! I had such a wonderful experience at Wedding Shoppe! When I woke up that morning, I had no idea I'd be going dress shopping that day, but by that evening I had my dream dress! The attendants were beyond helpful and kind, and they didn't judge me for having such over-the-top taste. I went in saying keywords like "over the top," "fairytale," "regal," "romantic," "ballgown," "unique," "feminine," etc. They knew exactly what I meant, and they know their inventory so well that they were able to single out a few dresses they knew I'd love while staying within my budget. My attendant, Bailey, was SUCH a sweetheart and had the patience of Job as I kept insisting on something extravagant, sometimes while mostly naked. She never made me feel awkward, uncomfortable, or judged. She brought me all the cathedral veils and tiaras and lace sleeves I wanted to try with the dresses. On the mostly-naked note, if you are more shy, I recommend getting some pasties to cover your modesty, as you will want to be braless to get the proper effect. I did not realize this, as I had never tried on dresses before. I also wasn't prepared because when I got dressed that morning, I didn't know I'd be going shopping, so my underwear was also completely see through. Bailey was a sport about it. I also recommend showing them a few pictures of dresses you like, as well as brainstorming some keywords to capture the vibe you want. Their website has their inventory on it, which is super helpful, so check it out beforehand if you can! They have a MASSIVE selection compared with all the other shops I saw while researching -- you will find something you like. I took 2 out of my 5 bridesmaids here to get their dresses for my wedding. They both got measured by a "professional" consultant. The worker said they should get a size 10. We were all shocked because they are usually a size 4. We took the advice of the consultant because this is their job and they should know better. After receiving the dresses they were about 3 to 4 sizes too big. I called the shop and got a defensive receptionist saying that I signed a contract agreeing on the size. We agreed on the size because we trusted you to do your job right. They told me I could have my bridesmaids make a manager appointment. The receptionist NEVER told me I only had 15 days to make this manager appointment. My bridesmaid is in graduate school and has a crazy schedule so 21 days pass and she tries to make the appointment to see a manager and they will not see her. Instead they tell my bridesmaids that based on the measurements they have for them it should fit them PERFECTLY. I almost lost my mind. You can't tell someone it should fit them perfectly when first off it is literally hanging off them and secondly you wont even have an appointment with them to see this "perfectly fitted dress" The alterations are going to be more than the dress is worth. Then they told us to order a size bigger... Now I'm getting dresses to fit my daughter and I and it is costing me $400 ‍ we looked at the pictures of the dresses we tried on, and we looked incredible in them. I had the best experience here today! I was pretty nervous since I had a not-so-fabulous bridesmaid dress experience a few years back (dress was great, service was poor) but knew they had a great dress selection so booked an appointment and hoped for the best. To start with, I would definitely recommend an early-morning Sunday appointment. I feel like we had a far better dress selection because of that! Plus, the first hour was very quiet which I loved. We lucked out and had a fantastic consultant named Claire. Claire and I seemed to have fairly similar vibes, and she quickly picked up on what I was looking for. Within 8 or so dresses (plus a few well-placed accessories), I had found "THE ONE". In just under two hours, we had paid and were out of there. The best part of this visit was how respectful Claire was of my budget and my style. She really paid attention to detail, and clearly loves her job. I ended up at the Wedding Shoppe on Grand Ave twice. The first time we were there was a Sunday and we waited 10 minutes past our appointment time to be helped. The young woman who assisted us was awesome and helpful, she brought a beautiful selection of dresses, one that I particularly liked but wasn't ready to purchase. We came back two weeks later and I was now joined by my mom, my fiancé's mom, and some of my bridesmaids. This time, we were helped right away. I wanted to try on some new dresses before committing to the one I had liked last time. I told the young woman helping us what style I was looking for. She brought many dresses - most of which I had tried on the first time I came in. I felt so bad that she would lug these huge dresses up the stairs for me to say, "Seen it before!" I really didn't end up trying on many new dresses. We decided to buy the dress I had liked last time. We went to place the order and were told that the deals from last time we looked at the dress were no longer taking place so the dress went from being in-budget to a little over budget - nbd. We went to pay at the front and my mom called me over for help, a tip screen had shown up on the credit card terminal with options for 10%, 15% and 20% tips. My mom looked at me confused and asked what the deal was. The clerk loudly stated, "These ladies don't work on commission so they really rely on tips!" It wasn't in our budget to get this dress without the deals, but now we felt like we were being extorted for more $$. If I had known going in that tipping is necessary when buying a dress, I would have budgeted for it. All said, we left having spent $300 over budget for a dress and $200 over budget for a tip. My mom felt embarrassed, I felt stressed, and the rest of the crew felt awkward. I'm glad to have gotten a nice dress, but the process was like pulling teeth. read more

I had a consultation with Becca and cannot say enough positive things about my experience at the Wedding Shoppe. Becca really got my vision for my dress and every dress that she selected for me to try on I loved. All of those dresses were in my top favorites compared to a couple shops I had been to. I wanted a cape and she helped me see that vision even though they didn't have any in the store, and made recommendations to get it custom made. we had an appointment at noon today, had to wait, then was told by someone that she wasn't sure who would be helping us, 5 minutes later it turned out it was her, I don't remember her name. we told her pink was the color and we wanted something not boring or plain. She came back with 6 of the ugliest dresses I have ever seen. One was ripped (yes, I know it's a sample) one was piling so bad and the rest were grandma dresses. My daughter tried on 3 and we decided to cut our losses, as we were leaving the girl who was supposed to be helping us was coming down the stairs with a bunch of pink dresses, still unsure if those were for us or not because we said something like "yea, these dresses aren't going to work for us" and if those were for us she should have told us but she said nothing but "ok, have a nice day" She clearly wasn't interested in helping us. I ordered a dress in March for my daughters wedding in September. I was told the latest I would receive the dress is August. I have been communicating with them through emails and now four phone calls. Each phone call I was promised a call back with no call back. I am now 2 weeks from my daughters wedding with no dress, no shipping date and they will not give me a full refund. Do no buy a dress from them if you want it for your wedding. They did end up giving me a full refund, however I would ensure timing of dress prior to ordering from them.
