The great reviews helped in making my decision too, so I went in for a consultation and immediately felt like my dress would be in good hands. Mahtab has been doing this for years, and her approach is both time and cost effective. She suggests starting any alterations no more than 3 months in advance, which can sound worrisome, but in reality your body can change in 3 months so it doesn't make sense to make alterations to your dress when you will have to change it again months later. I took my dress in August and it was done in 1 month! I needed a hem, straps shortened, hips taken in, and bustles added and had 3 fittings total. She explained her process to me, which made me feel more comfortable with what she was doing. The total cost was under $600!!! I cannot recommend her enough! I loved my gown (still do actually) .. thanks to Mahtab. I bought the gown thinking I can make it strapless (I didn't think halter was flattering on me) but she was very truthful in saying that she didn't think it would look good with the way the pattern is on the dress. Other seamstress have said "yes" just to get my business but Mahtab was looking out for my best interest -- and she was absolutely correct! My gown was a sample sale and was a little large and she adjusted it to fit me PERFECTLY! I love my gown, halter and all! She was also very responsive. Literally 3 days before the wedding, after I hadn't tried on the gown since picking up from the alterations-- it was loose on the chest/halter area as I lost a little bit more weight, and she took me in the same day as I waited while she hand-sewed the dress. Mahtab is the absolute best!! She has such attention to detail like no other. I was recommended by someone else who had her dress done by Mahtab for her own wedding. Mahtab shortened my dress's outer lining, added spaghetti straps, took in the dress (it was about 2-3 sizes too big because I lost weight), changed the cups on the dress, and added a bustle. In addition, Mahtab went above and beyond and made suggestions to me on what I should purchase that I didn't know I needed to wear under my dress (bra, petticoat, etc.). I had seen a tailor before her who didn't really have as much attention to detail as Mahtab, who didn't make any suggestions and was prepared to charge the same price - same price for worse quality! Mathab is the best wedding dress alterations person out there! She is everything the glowing reviews say -- sweet, meticulous, skilled, and very fair pricing. She knows what she's doing, and will work with you to make magic happen and make you feel beautiful. After my free consultation, I brought my dress in around 2 months before my wedding. She was very easy to schedule with and I ended up going in a total of ~6 times so she could build upon the dress piece by piece. Her quote covers all alterations that are made to the dress, which was super helpful because I didn't have to worry about budget when adding minor changes here and there. Even though my dress was second hand and I didn't think it was necessary to hem, Mathab still diligently brought up the hem just a tiny bit. She also went out of her way to make minor changes to improve the dress, such as completely re-doing the existing bustle, and adding flowers to cover zipper and bustle buttons. She also gave me very helpful advice, such as getting a very reasonably priced petticoat on Amazon so that my dress wouldn't go between my legs, and taking from the many flowers throughout my dress to fill in my v-neck instead of buying new flower fabric as I had originally planned. Most importantly, Mathab was super accommodating when I was a perfectionist and wanted to make a small change to move 1-2 of the flowers we had added, after I had already approved and left with the dress for good. She didn't make me feel bad for coming back in and truly understood and cared that I felt perfect when wearing my dress. Mahtab did stunning work on my wedding gown for my April 2021 wedding. I was a COVID bride so I originally brought my gown to Mahtab in June of 2020 and then had to push the wedding back 8 months.
