Great and fun track days for high decibel events but really sucks when it comes to noise complaints. Nothing you can do but overall a nice track that's really close to the Bay Area that we all can come to enjoy.

Came by for a private even the other day and it was a phenomenal experience. There was an employee prior to entering the facility to sign off on a waiver and parking was right in front of the facility due to our small group. Catering from the venue was decent and catering staff wore masks covering their mouth and nose along with blue gloves for safety. The track itself was clean and in great working condition.

Attended the 2021 Monterey Grand Prix. It was my first visit to the track and it was great to experience the race in person as opposed to TV. We had 3 day tickets for the Flag Room. The Flag Room is a tent located on a hill between turns 4 and 5. A great view entering and leaving turn 4 and entering turn 5. The Flag Room is equipped with inside and outdoor seating. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and refreshments are included. Golf cart shuttles are available to and from any location within the venue. A don't miss location is the corkscrew for some great driving action.

So this is my first car race/ Formula 1 car thing. It's pretty cool. I couldn't stop making Ricky Bobby Jokes. Definitely not a lot of diversity, but it's my first one. So whatever. Didn't really have an expectations at all, so I definitely had fun.

Love this track in General. They have that famous corkscrew for you and 2.4 miles track later, quite fun for learning or to take your cars out to race or just enjoy the track. We attended the AMG Driving Academy with AMG Mercedes Benz. It was an amazing experience. Got to drive the track and got to ride with the professional race instructors, that was the best part! We got to drift and race with once another too. Beside the track, they have a small gift shop with everything WeatherTech Laguna Seca logo on it! There is a Bubba Burger restaurant there but it wasn't open when we were there! So not really much option for food and drink. Luckily, our AMG training class got catering food in for us breakfast and lunch. This track is not too far from Monterey and Carmel, so we did a StayCation before we visit here!

One of the most iconic race venues in the world. Into motor sports? Cars? Trucks? Bikes? Find it all here! Laguna Seca hosts some of the best racers and races every year. They also host several open track days for the average Joe like you and me to go out and put together our best Mario Andretti to Lewis Hamilton performance on the track. Make sure to bring some shade as it gets hot and there isn't a ton of shade to be found.

Came for the IndyCar race last week and had a blast. It was our first time here and we found the layout pretty intuitive. If you go to Indycar, please make sure to check out the paddock, especially right after practice sessions and the race because you can see the mechanics rolling the cars back into the garages and be just a few feet from these vehicles. We saw a few drivers but since it was race day they were not too available for photos or autographs, perhaps we'll try friday or saturday next year. We found that walking around the track during the race was out favorite way to watch in order to get a variety of angles. There is a small shaded area on the side of the hill next to the corkscrew thats perfect for watching cars rushing down the turn. Bring water, hiking shoes and sunscreen (lots of sunscreen).

World famous Laguna Seca with its cork screw at turn 8. Amazing track. There is a large paddock but no gift shop. Be warmed that there is a 90 FB sound limit and the sound station is near turns 6, I forget. Violate if 3 times & you are off the track for the weekend. So do it at the end of your Sunday if you have to. There is food but no seats and nothing is covered & can get windy so be prepared.

Everytime a student driver made even the slightest of mistakes the head guy/owner of SB would yell so loud that his face would turn red. He made my entire experience horrible and I paid $10k! Everything he said and told us to do and not do was lead with intimidation and anger and threats....wasn't encouraging or helpful at all. Seemed like most of the instructors were also scared of him so they didn't encourage us to improve. I asked my instructor about him and he said yeah we are all scared to do something wrong. What a horrible way to run a business! I would've done more f4 classes but not here, EVER! There are much better run race classes. Run from Skip Barber and never look back!!

We started 25 minutes late. The staff seemed like it was their first day there. Skip Barber describes their courses as "lead and follow". Let me describe that for you. The instructor leads and you follow. This is not a bad concept as long as the lead car is capable of the same speed as the student. The "lead" car on the day of my session was a completely stock Toyota Camry. If that sounds bad, it was. Now add 4 students in the "lead" car every session receiving "instruction" while you are driving a car capable of 150 mph and the result is a lap speed of well under 70 MPH. The same lap car was used for all cars that day. Therefore, Formula 4 cars and GT cars were restricted to the same speed behind the lap car. If driving an exceptional car well below it's potential is appealing to you, I highly recommend Skip Barber.

It didn't disappoint. I mean walking thru these hallowed grounds, one is reminded of the remarkable history of this venue. The legendary 1967 International Monterey Pops Festival featuring Janis Joplin & Jimi Hendrix. All the great Jazz legends thru the years at the annual running Jazz fest. Not to leave out all the epic Reggae performances at the Cali Roots Festival each year. Jaw-dropping history in short. I came to see a favorite reggae group Steel Pulse. Celebrating their 50th Anniversary as a group, they were fresh off a gig in Spain at the ginormous Rototom Festival. Still sounded great, playing a crisp 90 min. set. And all for a very reasonable fair entrance fee of $16, a relative bargain. And they had a nice, large crowd show for opening night & Steel Pulse on a Thursday. I stopped smoking years ago, but felt like I got a nice contact high from all the...umm "leaf burning" during the concert. Are those clouds Martha? No Dear, not weather clouds, lol. And plenty of delicious if not healthy fair food and merchandise to appeal to a broad range of tastes; albeit pricey for the food, which is pretty standard for most fairs. And it's deceptively big inside, covering at least 2-3 longish blocks I'd guess end-to-end. Rides for the riders too. The main entertainment stage is set up to the right of the main entrance, but signage isn't good on this. If your familiar with the annual Cali Roots Fest held every year, you'll def. be familiar with the venue and the "Bowl" stage area. The weather is very pleasant in Monterey and much cooler than summer fairs in other inland cities, a big plus for this event. Slight drawbacks are parking ha$$les, low overhead jets frequently buzzing the area, not enough bathrooms, uneven footing in the grassy areas + limited lighting at night. So best to keep your alcohol consumption in check in this regard, so you don't end up faceplanting on your way out. This fair & venue are overall winners. Check it.

Worst experience EVER…read more We have been attending the Monster Jam event every year for the last 8 years (except COVID years obviously because of closure.) Every year the line on Main St. to get to the parking lot has been getting worse. This year was the WORST amount of CHAOS I have ever experienced for an event. We got into the area an HOUR early and still missed the first half hour of the event due to the incompetence of the descriptions below. First of all there was absolutely NO POLICE PRESENCE. No cops directing vehicle or pedestrian traffic. No cones directing vehicles towards the parking lot. Nothing. So there were tons of cars blocking all lanes cutting in front of each other. Car horns going off on each other. Almost seen a few fist fights. It was ridiculous. Second. There were NO signs letting vehicles know that the parking lot was CASH ONLY. I can't even imagine all of the cars that waited for over an hour in a two block radius to get into the even and not having cash. And having to turn back out of the parking lot. Third. The lines for spectators to get into the event were a 1/4 mile long. And at times wasn't moving at all. We stood in line for 45 minutes with tickets in hand. By the time we got to the front the ticket takers were already waving people inside because even they had enough of the nonsense. Once we got inside the event was like any other. Great fun. Monster Jam as a brand had NOTHING to do with all of the madness above. It was the Salinas Sports Complex and the organizers that get the blame. I love going to this event and look forward to it every year. IMHO it is the best arena near the Bay Area for this event. But I don't think I will go next year. And I think many others will feel the same way. My kids didn't like all the madness. The angry parents swearing at each other. The honking. The stress. Salinas Sports Comlex. Get your ISHT together. Notify the Police and have them do their job to help with your event. Or hire some competent people to get vehicle and pedestrian traffic into your event more efficiently. For years, based on the promotional photos I saw, I avoided the Gilroy Gardens (GG) family theme…read morepark. I thought it would be tacky and hyper-commercialized. Curiosity, together with my wife's desire to see the place, finally got the better of me--and I discovered that I had been wrong. GG in my opinion manages to strike the best balance that any such theme park probably can in terms of appealing to the masses while at the same time avoiding the trap of being tacky or hyper-commercialized. The varied rides and exhibits are pleasant and well-maintained. Some are even quite artistic (like the totem poles, illustrated in the image attached here) and educational (like the ecologically oriented Green Barn). If you're already familiar with GG, you don't need me to tell you about it. If you're not, here are a few tips--which might not be obvious to the uninitiated--that might help you better enjoy it: * The lines for the rides can be very long at times. You might end up waiting for an hour before it's your turn. Best to be prepared for that and plan it into your itinerary. * We noticed a small number of people who avoided the lines for all rides, being let in through the back gate/exit. When we asked about this at the Welcome Center, we learned that GG sells yellow wristbands that allow people to skip the long lines and enter through the "back door" (exit). They cost something like $85 per person for the year or about $30 per visit, in addition to the membership fee. * Even with those wristbands, you'll need more than one visit to see and do everything here. Rushing around a lot will spoil the fun. * The food everywhere, as far as we could tell, is pretty bad. You'll be ahead of the game if you pack your own, which will also avoid your waiting in another line. * The big secret, so to speak, of GG is "hidden" in plain sight--in the second word of the name itself, "Gardens." Most visitors are so preoccupied with going on the rides that they miss out on the natural beauty of the gardens. We found Camellia Garden and Claudia's Garden, in particular, to be like sheltered oases of calm and natural beauty within the hustle and bustle of the park. In our opinion, the three most obvious ways in which GG could be improved are as follows: 1. Improve the quality of the food that's offered. With all the traffic the park gets, those concession stands must be worth a small fortune. Either get them to do better or replace them with businesses that will. 2. Design a more user-friendly map. Those who already know their way around don't need a map but for those who don't, the existing map is not sufficiently clear (hint: it probably needs to be larger). 3. Do a better job of training the staff, in terms of both knowledgeability and attitude. Some are quite good (a special shout out to Nina at the Welcome Center and Sean at the Garlic Twirl ride: they exuded both warmth and professionalism) but others, who shall remain nameless, need more training. Minus one star for those deficiencies, as well as for not making it sufficiently clear at the time of the 2026 premium membership purchase that the bring-a-friend tickets that came with the membership had to be picked up almost immediately or they would not be available.
