Let me preface by saying that if you call this track "Mazda Raceway" I owe you a kick in the nuts next time I see you. And if you're a girl, I will do a boob smack in a non-sexual fashion. Ahem. Glad to get that out of the way. I did a trackday here on my motorcycle earlier this summer. Well 2-weeks after MotoGP weekend to be exact. The weather was beautiful, I was on vacation, and the bike was running good. This is what life of dreams are made of. My first impression of the track, after many hours and laps on video games, is just plain and simply surreal. I felt the history, the importance and most of all the technicalities of riding such a magnificent piece of asphalt. There was no other place in the world I would have rather been. Not even in Christie Brinkley's bedroom. I could go on and on with techno ramble, but what's the use? unless you are passionate about riding track, it's all babble. All I can say is if you ever get a chance to taste this track, be it motorcycle, car, bicycle or walking backwards, don't hesitate for a minute, and get your azz out there and live life! read more

I couldn't agree more with Nobody M's review. Spot On. My brother's roommate in college raced Bugati's so I had fond memories of the Vintage Car Races from here as a kid....shoulda left it that way. Attended the Le Mans last weekend and it nearly caused the end of a relationship. Finding the place is impossible. Horrible, horrible, horrible "signage." So warlike debates ensued because one sign said go left the other said right; turns out there are two entrances. Suckey facilities. Compared to Sears Point this place is ghetto. When you choose porta-potties over the "restrooms" you know it's gross. Everything felt old, dirty, run down, and needing several coats of paint. But all that paled compared to Worst Parking Snafu Ever. They pack everyone in and then staff disappear to let tired, drunk people who just watched really fast cars all day negotiate out of a bottleneck. I've never seen so many Audis and BMWs rally driving. And why was everyone leaving at the same time? Well, because a Mensa member at the footbridge decided to hold everyone back instead of allowing the trickle of people leaving to continue. No, his plan was let 500 pissed off people congregate 40 minutes so they could then push together to their cars. So everyone reaches the lot at the same time. Then, as there was no staff or order, people started cutting each other off left and right. I was truly frightened for some sort of car riot or gun fight; I think the only saving grace is that this was Le Mans and not Nascar. Yes, the corkscrew is something to behold a Ferrari speeding down, but that was it for me. The track isn't enjoyable like Sears Point. And, indeed...local cops had speed traps all over. But the Porsche that had been riding my ass got pulled over on the way to the 1 so at least the day wasn't a total bust. One point only cuz I had to. read more

Laguna Seca open track day with NCRC. There is nothing much to be said because this is such an iconic place. Who would have dreamed that I could drive my car on the same track that I play on Gran Turismo??? Just be careful about turn 11 where lots of people spin. Laguna Seca, great scenery even if there is no event going on, but that's what you come where for a trackday or race event. I noticed some of their facilities, were getting remodeled. The reason I just gave it 4 of 5 stars, is their sound level limit. It's a ridiculous level considering it's a race track. Awesome track all around - I first fell in love with Laguna back in the days of watching World Super Bike. When MotoGP came back in 2005 after a much missed and long hiatus, I was so jazzed! We've been pretty much every year since and have seen the races get more and more organized each year. We made it past the scorching heat of 2006 and witnessed Nicky Hayden go for the win - it was amazing. The past couple of years we've splurged a bit and went with the Laguna Club hospitality ticket packages. Well worth the extra money considering the food, drinks, booze, premium parking, grandstand seats and clean, air-conditioned private bathrooms. We'll see you next year! read more

Came by here for the American Le Mans Race and the weather was killer and the event was awesome! We had a suite at the Red Bull Energy center with bottomless alcohol, cheese, and desserts along with lunch/dinner buffets. I love how the majority of the people here are such car enthusiasts! The bf and I enjoyed the race, the stroll through the booths and of course a nice hike to the corkscrew. Such an adrenaline rush watching and makes me definitely anticipate Skip Barber Racing School even more! read more

Don't ask me how I did it, but I got to be in Donald Trump's hellocopter. Awesome. Landed right on the grass. "CLASSIC". Racing here is an experience to be had. Granted it's almost an uneventful course considering technical skill, but it is a considerably high speed course which if not paying attention can lead to some trouble. . We sat on the grandstands in front of turn # 4 and I think, aside from the corkscrew, this was the perfect location to watch the races. If you sit in the main grandstand by the start/finish line you're only able to see the straightaway. If you sit by turn # 4, you're able to see the turn, followed by a straightaway, then another turn, in addition to seeing the starting straightaway off in the distance. This is a must see once in your life time. read more

Had an amazing weekend at the World SuperBike races! This is such an amazing track to watch Superbike races. They also have worked out a great system to get motorcycles and cars in and out efficiently. The staff from the security to the race promoters to the people parking you are top notch. Super fun to drive. I have tracked two of my cars here and it's always a blast. Not so much fun for the guys with really loud exhausts. They have to putt-putt up the hill to avoid getting tagged for being too loud. Coming here for car races are okay. MotoGP on the other hand was out of control--I went in 2006 and it was terrible. That was the year that it was extra hot and people were fainting in the bus line waiting to get back to their cars. read more

Bottom line; This track is built around the spectator. You can climb around to almost anywhere on the track and there are tons of awesome spots to be a spectator. You NEED TO GO. I cannot believe I've never submitted a review for Laguna Seca! I have been going here since I was in grade school....so for about 25 years. The entire place is designed for people to be able to watch from a variety of places. In any corner you can watch the race, and for the most part you can just walk into the paddock which is SUPER rare at ANY track. I have lots and lots of great memories at Laguna Seca.... here's to 25 more years. read more

I love this track! It's not as hard as most people think though it's got a couple of tricky corners and is definitely not without its challenges, esp. for a momentum car driver such as myself. The big "gotcha" is the 92dB sound limit because of the one guy who lives down the hill from the track and has had some personal agenda against Laguna Seca for the last 40 years. I happened to find a 105dB day and didn't worry about sound, but they usually have the sound monitoring in the same spots so you can just add something to your exhaust to dampen the sound or direct the sound in-field (the "Laguna-Spec exhaust") If you've never driven Laguna Seca, go take your car and drive it, or rent a track-ready car for the day and get an instructor :) read more

The track itself is 5 stars, but they really need to add more bathroom stalls! Also, they need to resolve the parking situation- this year (2013) we were stuck in traffic for AN HOUR ON THE BUS/SHUTTLE, and we were just going from the CSUM to the track! This trip usually takes 15 minutes or so, but this year the cars going to the lots by the track backed up the entire road so our bus was stuck in stop and go traffic for an hour. It was ridiculous. They need to block off a separate bus lane in that situation or speed up the parking process. Also, there are only TWO stalls in the women's bathrooms near the entrance of the track, so it takes 20 minutes to use the restroom if you don't want to use the porta potties. The bleacher style seating isn't the most comfortable, and they could make more money selling some cheap seat pads. Food selection during MotoGP is ok- we've had the Frog Dog (hot dog stuffed in a baguette) and that was good, and the Orange Chicken bowl was solid as far as greasy Chinese food goes. Overall, I still like this track a lot (especially the corkscrew), but it would be nice if they fixed the shuttle situation for MotoGP next year and also added some extra women's bathrooms. read more

I am in love with this track. I don't know if it is because I live in FL where there are no hills, and definitely no cork-screws, and there is always 100% humidity... but I am just enamored with this place. It could also be due to the fact that when I get to "work" here, I am really on vacation, that the food in the area in out of this world, and everything seems just a bit *magical* out in Northern CA.... *sigh*.... On our last visit here for the Ferrari Challenge Series, I even got a hotlap (the passenger seat gets installed into the race car, and the team driver drives you around the track at race speeds)... TWICE... Rollercoasters seem so lame now... yeah, I am totally spoiled... From my two race events here (2011 ALMS, 2012 FC), the weather has been PERFECT, the track is well maintained and easy to walk the perimeter, the events have been exciting, and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. This review is for the Red Bull USGP (MotoGP event) at Laguna Seca. The layout of the track is very unique and pretty good for spectating. Of course the feature everyone talks about is the infamous corkscrew and it's definitely a must see feature of this track. You can walk to a lot of different corners and get a good view of the action. The grandstand seats at turns 4 and 11 are nice too because they have big screens setup so you can see the whole race in addition to the corners right in front of you. I think it's worth it to buy a grandstand ticket for race day. The atmosphere at the race is also very cool. Motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world come to watch this event. In addition to the awesome race machines you see in the pits and on the track you will see all kinds of cool and rare motorcycles ridden to the track by the race attendees. The event itself is pretty well organized. You can pay for a car parking pass or take a shuttle to the track and over the years they have gotten fairly efficient with their traffic management system so it's relatively painless to get in and out. There are a lot of great manufacturer and vendor displays to check out and the food options are pretty good too (for a race track). If you love motorcycles or are a race fan in general you owe it to yourself to check out the MotoGP event at Laguna Seca! read more

I camp and trailer my bike everything is convenient , showers, bathrooms and bikes , bikes and bikes. Every year I make new friends this place holds a special place in my heart we have made it a annual trip we fix it in to our anniversary it's that special to me and my wife. I've never been to a race here, but I can speak to the camping experience. So. If you're looking for a rustic, walk-in-the-woods kind of camping experience, this is NOT the place to be. But if you don't mind being kept up late by drunk teenagers or being woken up early by small children playing catch outside your tent door, this is definitely the place. If you're a racing lover, which we are, the views of the raceway can't be beat - except if you were actually on the track, I guess. There are a couple neat spots where you can view the cars going around the track through a chain-link fence. The camping area overlooks the track, although it's mostly obscured by trees. Our tent site overlooked the hills and the valley, so we had a pretty great view. The campground has a few "nature-y" elements, but this isn't exactly the Appalachian Trail. (One night, our neighbor watched "Law and Order" on a portable TV.) The showers suck - you have to press a button really hard and the water comes out for about 30 seconds, and then you have to press the button again. But it wasn't bad. I'll give it four stars, because the drunk teenagers and "L&O" and kids playing catch are really just a byproduct of the fact that you're, well, camping at a racetrack. And the rangers are super-nice and even delivered firewood to our site. Thanks, guys! I'll probably be back, since it's in a good location, it's cheap ($22/night for a tent site) and I like taking an afternoon nap to the sound of racing cars. Seriously. read more

This year would be my 4th or 5th time going to motoGP. I had to review this year because the event this year was near perfect, I almost wanted to cry. Every year we go, its hot, miserable, and everyone is irritated after the race because getting your car back is a nightmare. So if you can ride, please ride because its your fastest ticket out of there. But we drive sometimes because there are folks that don't have a bike or don't ride at all. THIS YEAR, it was amazing. It was a nice balmy 70 something in Laguna and it wasn't so hot to the point where everyone was dragging their feet. We ended up checking 3 major spots - the hill facing red bull tent/hill/mansion whatever you want to call it, the corkscrew, and ended up at sierra nevada's tent and sat on some chairs near the beginning of the race. The only complaint was the food. Couldn't find any decent tasting food around. Well except for the kettle corn... read more

i was here for the first race, the day it opened! I remember the first cars, mostly fairly small displacement British cars and Porsches. They seemed awfully fast, especially the monster 3-liter ones...! They sounded so powerful, echoing around the hills, just like my well-worn record, The Sounds of Sebring, playing through the built-in speakers on a friend's record player. Well, it seemed hi-fi at the the time... The track replaced the Pebble Beach track, which was just roadway surrounded by pine trees and spectators standing not that far away from the action. Laguna was much safer, but the track was layed out in the British way, tight and twisty. The idea was to disadvantage big powerful cars which were then considered to be unsophisticated. I always thought this made no difference as power becomes even more valuable when there are only a few places to pass because the track is too short and narrow. The most powerful cars always won anyway. It also kept NASCAR and Indy cars from really succeeding here and perhaps the track could host a F1 race if it was wider and faster. So, even though I have seen many famous drivers and cars, plus motorcycles and the terrific Historics, I think the track is paroichial and should be be longer, have a real straight and lose a turn or two, plus be widened. Only the corkscrew is sacred to me. Laguna is one of the few remaining natural courses, tracks that follow the land and have a scenic setting. I loath the concrete canyons of the street courses and most of the new engineered road courses remind me of baseball stadiums built 30 years ago; efficient, but soul-less. I think everything possible should be done to keep this place viable. Oh, and the track was there way before the Golden Ghetto was developed, so don't complain about the noise. read more

I've always attended the MotoGP at this venue. Great facilities and great staff to work with. Bathrooms are almost always available with minimal wait and the food concessions has gotten better. I've been here both as a spectator and a worker for the MotoGP series. What I don't understand is how a lake could've been here in the first place. I know the name Laguna Seca means "dry lake", but if it gets so damn hot here in the first place, water would not have stood a chance. With that being said, I was a corner worker in Turn #3 for the MotoGp in 2006 and it was 137 degrees trackside. Double to the U to the T to the F. Make sure you're well equipped to rehydrate yourself and layer on that sunblock. Melanoma isn't good. Going down the corkscrew in a big pickup holding on the rails with drivers that know the track pretty damn well is an experience I'll never forget. Sidenote: Valentino Rossi is as big as my leg. read more

Adrenaline junkie? Enjoy pushing your cars speed , then braking to its very maxium? This is the place to do it. Be sure to double up on your anti-perspirant. You must have a racing helmet and racing leather gloves too. Why lose control of your cherished ride at 100 mph? if you do hit a wall and live, you will need to hire a tow truck and have your ride towed off the track. Hopefully, you won't have to drop it off at the wrecking yard to have it crushed and sold for scrap. Excellent place to take your car 120 mph, or as fast as you want. Wide, Smooth curves, plenty of room for two cars side by at 80 mph. Descending the corkscrew turn at 60 mph and shooting thru its last turn close to 80 mph , then push it up to 100 mph downhill and brake hard for the 90 degree right turn. Burn Rubber. read more

We stayed here for California roots festival. I have nothing againt this campground but I just wanna say Cali roots you kinda suck. The overflow camping we were forced to camp at was at the top of a hill it was a giant parking lot with some intense hills around it where most people camped. The campground had their stuff together showers were great had more then enought bathrooms and trash cans. But it was pretty sad that we were seperated from the majority of the festival goers and had to pay $130 for 4 nights when we only stayed for 3 but anyways the racetrack was cool to watch. read more

YA BABY !! its got a rep for a reason,, what a great place to run. in the summer if you can get in on a track day, you wont be disappointed.If you go in the winter,, look out,, rain,, lots of it, ,and if you are not careful,, you might be walking home. The grounds are great, camping available, nice views, the area near by is great, lots of nice food places. But its going to cost you though, big bucks to run here. a few draw backs other than $, 1) DB level,, better put that stock exhaust back on or they will boot you out if you have a loud exhaust, louder than 92db they will warn you then C ya. 2)walls,, lots of walls,, not a forgiving track,at all, ive seen many nice cars scrapped here, so be careful. 3) its far for me,, long drive and lots of $ involved to go for a weekend. but if you got the cash ,, GO !! 4) if you go for a public event, like classic cars day etc, the parkin and traffic suck the big one. be prepared to wait and fight for a spot. lots of cops in the area as well. i would say go for a private track event, but other than that its kind of a hastle to go. read more

Was here all day enjoying qualify racing for Porsche Cup racing. So fun!!!! If you can, try finding your way to the gift shop and seeing if you can pick yourself up a pair of Piloti driving shoes, gloves, hat, jacket or even a fireproof driving outfit. Nearby, on any of the race events will have hundreds of various booths that will every possible assembly of race fan material. I promise you that you won't be bored. 8 bucks to get inside..and lots to see and people to meet. Try to get into the paddock area. On race events such as Rennsport IV, be prepared to pay as much as $50 for a ticket and maybe an additional $40 for special permit parking space. From now on.. I am bringing extra cash to pay for that special permit parking. Otherwise, you will find your car covered with a horrible dust (mostly harmless, you just have to wash it off later) upon your day in the sun. Two suggested viewing points... Turn 4 and anywhere near the corkscrew. read more

Now I know why all of the games feature this track...its a gorgeous track!!! It is technical with a good amount of turns and elevation changes. The corkscrew is all that it is hyped up to be. For any of first timers out there, I would recommend learning the track before hopping on (I failed to do this). The sweeping turn 9 was a surprise to me and so was turn 11--slow turn, the brake markers are accurate for assistance. Between turn 5 and 6 is the decibel tower, so beware if you have a loud car. When I was there, there was a gentleman who said he could assist anyone getting flagged for noise. As a note, I learned from speaking to some natives that AAA will not tow your car from the track so if you do run into some issues and plan to call AAA, find a way to bring your car downhill to the street first. read more

I attended the MotoGP championships races from 2006-2012. The racetrack itself is one of the best in the world for both riders and drivers. The weather is always amazing, I would go for all three days of track sessions. I always had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the Canary Row events they would put on for race fans. It's sad that the MotoGP won't be there anymore (at least for now). It's hard to compete with other venues that have great facilities. That's the thing I always wished Laguna Seca would improve, grandstands and restroom facilities. Sitting up on the hill to view the corkscrew on dirt, blankets or lawn chairs sucks. I hope that these areas can be improved and the greatest racing on two wheels brought back to the Monterey peninsula. read more

I cannot give a better review of Laguna seca. it's my personal getaway in life. the staff is über friendly due to many volunteering out of love for the events. the restrooms are well placed, food options are always many and well healed. the event is such a photographers day if you know how to work the events movement during the day, you can afford yourself one heck of a shooting experience. or enjoy a day of spectating. there's no wrong way to have a killer race day. the general vibe and staff are top notch. the golf cart transportation people are king! they will take you to the cork screw (or anywhere) no probs. I wear vans and was fearing my feet after a full day of hiking, and the carts are the sense of getting around Laguna seca, age regardless. I love you Laguna seca for all that you are. I have my race days filled with visuals and sounds from high performance internal combustion engines that cannot be matched. embrace this before it goes away. long live Laguna seca! we love you! read more

As far as racetracks go, the audience vibe here is great....everyone is so pumped to be a part of a such a GREAT spectator experience. Bring earplugs, a beach chair, a cooler of drinkees(its allowed!), and enjoy! Go to the corkscrew and live it up! Not only is the corkscrew the most exciting area to watch from, it also has trees, shade and best of all the corkscrew area has REAL BATHROOMS at the top of the hill. Whoooo-hooo! read more
