Ann Arbor is always such an interesting spot for a night out. During the school year, the streets…read moreare teeming with college kids bouncing around, which of course is what you would expect from a great college town. What I do love about Ann Arbor is that they balance out the drunk haunts of young adults with great restaurants and high end bars for the people looking for more than a pitcher of cheap beer. Rabbit Hole is one of those spots. Down the same little alley way as Circ Bar, this underground bar is tucked away, stone hallways and open up and lead to different openings that provide seating, a dance floor and an amazingly stocked bar. If you like bourbon you will love this spot. Our bartender was fantastic, absolutely worked with me on working out a drink. I know I took a pic of an espresso martini, but my drink was made perfect also. Another nice surprise was that it wasn't some crazy price on the drink (I mean any crazier than other places and quite cheaper than around my home), especially for Ann Arbor. Walking away from the bar is a dance floor, and surrounding it are booths in a separate rooms and tables on a level up from the dance floor. There are also two hallways that lead to more booths and tables in different areas of the bar. As you can imagine this is a huge place. We came on a Friday and it wasn't very busy, but school is out and the weather had just broke so not surprising. I really enjoyed my time and the company I was with, and I would definitely go back.

Definitely a bit confusing to figure out where to go. I wish I had been given some direction. There is seating against the wall throughout the winding halls. There is a dance floor and a couple bars. I loved the look which would definitely bring me back if I had also loved the Cocktails. The drink I ordered was way too sweet. I was underwhelmed. Most of their drinks looked on the sweeter side even the bartender mentioned. For my second I just ordered a glass of bubbly. It was also on the sweeter side but an improvement. For the prices, I really don't want to have to get up, find my way back to the bar to order my drink, then walk back to my seat avoiding the people and trying not to spill.

This place is great for large parties and the decor is really nice and inviting. Not to mention , service was really good. I initially ordered the braised short ribs and wasn't aware it would be drowning in a bbq looking sauce. They were so nice about letting me swap out my entree and it made me a fan. My only suggestion is that they add more description to the menu. Some entrees simply say chef favorite, which doesn't tell me the sides or that an item is covered in a sauce.

Afterwards, we stayed for dinner and had to leave the wine area. We were seated without a menu. After 10 minutes, someone stopped by to take our orders. Upon request, the server brought us the menus and noted that another server would take the orders. We had appetizers, the nachos were stale and really tasted like nothing. The wings were cooked and spicy, though nothing crisp to it. During that time, the new server did not check with is if the orders were complete or even okay. Once we were done , the plates were removed and our server disappeared for about 1/2 hours. We had to get the attention of another employee to get the bill. The employee appeared somewhat annoyed when we asked for our server but confirmed that our server would be coming with what appeared to me with an insincere smile. Our server walked towards us but stopped to attend to another table. Those ten minutes felt pretty long. Afterwards, we received the bill that included an ordered side dish that had not been served. The to go boxes were finally brought after asking for them twice. In summary, the food was nothing to write home about. The food service was non existent. It just looked like they didn't care with a smile that doesn't mean anything. Cannot recommend this place. If you must go, keep your expectations low and check the bill for accuracy.

Complete with historic farm house, barn, chickens!! This place is great for getting lots of outdoorsy photographs while still keeping guests like Grandma and Grandpa comfortable in air conditioned splendor. The price is really right and includes the use of their chairs, tables, and a small prep kitchen. You can invite your own catering (not forced to use theirs like many venues) So there again you can save some money without compromising any quality (i.e. no dry chicken dinner for $32ea) The barn is not as rustic looking on the inside it has exposed beams but white drywall in between which means you need to plan to use colored linens or something to add to the otherwise colorless room. They do however have it pre-lit with white holiday lights. Overall a great option for couples on a budget or conventions.

On 8/23/2021, they sent an email implementing new very strict covid protocols that pushed my daughter and her future husband to change EVERY EVENT DETAIL to have the event take place outside. Just 4 days later, on 8/27/2021 they received a second email, CANCELLING the entire event. Cobblestone personnel CANCELLED their wedding after the details to move everything outdoors had been successfully changed, just 15 days before their wedding date of 9/11/2021. Not only did they cancel the event 15 days before it was scheduled to happen, they did it by email on a Friday just before 5pm. No phone call, and at best a pathetic explanation as to why they felt justified to do so. The people that work at Cobblestone are selfish, unprofessional, and should not be employed at such a venue if they care so little for the community or customers they are serving. If you are thinking about having a wedding or event at an outdoor site in the Ann Arbor area, look anywhere else as Cobblestone Farm is a nightmare to deal with.

More important to you, it's nestled in a beautiful neighborhood about one mile to most elements of the U of M central campus. So you can walk, if you're so inclined, and five to ten minutes in a car gets you to any number of important or interesting places. Parking is on the street, which turned out to be no problem, as there always were plenty of spaces near the entry sidewalk. Perhaps it's helpful to say that the Stone Chalet campus is the site of a former Unitarian church. That's how I remember it, driving/jogging by during student years. Therese remembers it was the site of piano recitals. Anyway, the former "main building" has been converted to an event center (we didn't spend much time there) and the former parsonage converted to guest quarters. Our room was Alice-in-Wonderland themed, spacious and cozy for an autumn visit. Breakfast was ordered via an app, with many choices, including gluten-free options for Therese. If you want a good and even inspiring conversation, seek out the owner Vincent, who can share some fascinating stories about real estate and his efforts to purchase, maintain, and make profitable the Stone Chalet property. We enjoyed our time here, and wish Vincent, Daisy, family and staff, all the best. Thank you, Stone Chalet.

We rented AACTMAD's Concourse Hall for our wedding reception this summer. We chose this hall mainly…read morebecause they seemed very flexible. They have no restrictions on vendors (you can hire whatever caterer/DJ/etc. you like) or alcohol and give you access to the hall for the entire day & night. I believe the time included was something like 9 am one day to 9 am the following day. Other Positives: They are fairly accommodating and allow you to arrange visits to the hall when you can try out floorplans, etc.-- you can set up the hall however you like. You can also buy your own liquor & hire your own bartenders so that you save money on alcohol expenses. Tables, chairs, dinner ware, and silverware are included in the rental fee and you can rent linens for an additional cost. There is plenty of parking (about 80 spaces) and it is pretty close to many A2 hotels. Gretchen was usually pretty quick to respond and easy to communicate with (Hillary was also helpful). The floor is great for dancing! There's a pretty cool loft area you can hang out in upstairs. Although we did not use it, the built-in sound system seemed to work well and offers a great option for those that might want to self-DJ. There is a piano that (I believe) you can use. They offer recycling & they have a huge fan which helps reduce heating/cooling costs. They were also reasonable when a server broke something at the hall and were helpful in quickly resolving the issue. Neutrals: (Although this was actually more of a positive to us when we were choosing a venue.) You will have to arrange for all your own event staff & planning. More specifically, you will have to hire your own servers/ DJ/ planner/ caterer/ bartenders/ etc. and arrange for your own set-up, break-down, and clean-up. So renting this hall will result in more work than going with your standard banquet hall. Negatives: Service seemed to be taken care of mostly by volunteers for AACTMAD, which is not ideal IMO. For example, AACTMAD requires that you do a half-hour orientation, but were a bit disorganized in arranging the time, which was limited by the volunteer's schedule. The volunteer also did not know the answer to various questions regarding the hall and did not seem at all familiar with the equipment at the hall (e.g., sound system and lights). Considering that the cost of renting the hall is not inexpensive ($1150), I think that they could afford to hire staff who manages care of the hall issues and is more knowledgable about the equipment. Another negative was some decor of the hall. When we decided to rent the hall, we were told that the quilts hanging on the walls were permanent- we were not thrilled but ok with that. There was (only) string lights hanging from the ceiling fixtures, which looked great. There was no mention other permanent decor to be added to the hall. However, a little bit before our event date, we visited the hall and saw that they added sparkly butterflies and paper lanterns in multiple colors hanging from the ceiling. We were really not happy about the butterflies, and requested they be removed them prior to our event. They said no (we were not allowed to remove them & put them back either) and explained that the butterflies were a seasonal decor that was not optional. When we looked at our contract, there was no mention of this decor (only of the quilts & lights), but we did find that they had recently added a section to the agreement posted on their website, which was not in our original agreement. When we pointed this out, the volunteer said they would still not budge on the issue. Bottom Line: Concourse Hall is a great option for those that appreciate the ability to customize events and for those that want to dance! If you want to do a little less work/planning, it might help to hire a planner. Otherwise, you will need to arrange for set-up, clean-up, and break-down of the hall. Keep in mind that the decor on the ceiling changes and ask questions about that before booking. I know that we were a bit more flexible about the look of our reception than many couples, so that may be a deal-breaker for some but it ultimately did not dampen our day.

We wanted the freedom to have a fun, casual wedding, but all the venues we were finding had crazy rules and required packages (caterers, decorations, even music, etc). AACTMAD was just what we were looking for. They were affordable, have a lovely space that was already decorated with some string lights, and basically just gave us the code to the door and told us to put the room back as we had found it and have fun. We were able to do our own decorations, food, and alcohol at a much reduced price and as we wanted. The hall is just beautiful, and was a perfect space for our ceremony/reception combined event. More importantly, Gretchen and Hillary were friendly, responsive, and easy to work with. I highly recommend this venue for folks looking for a nice space for a DIY event. Thanks, AACTMAD!!
