Fun 4 All is the place for Ypsilanti trading card gamer geeks. They have regular tourneys and game nights, and they always have a nice selection of "Magic: The Gathering" cards, both the current set and some older sets. The prices for individual cards are comparable to those in other local gaming stores. One nice amenity here: there is a box of MTG "land" cards that can be borrowed, with a note on the box asking for patrons to also donate to the box. I'm sure that's one reason they attract so many gamers to their tournaments and game nights. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about MTG and about other trading card games as well as manga and classic comics.

I can't help it; I love Fun 4 All! And with their larger Carpenter Road location, I love them even more. The staff has consistently been knowledgable and friendly. They're always willing to help, and are very patient when I am uncertain about this or that. Fun 4 All sells geekery at full price, so while I don't buy much, it's always a great experience. I never feel bad buying it at this price here even when it's cheaper online because the service and knowledge are worth it. They've even recommended comics to me, and I've loved them. I also buy a lot of dice sets here, and they've got a pretty attractive assortment of them! The price isn't too bad on the lower end die, but it's as expected all around. There is also an interesting assortment of board games in the front of the store. I highly recommend you check it out! Ask the staff for recommendations. There's a lot of cool stuff in there. Fun 4 All always has what I want and need, even if I didn't know I wanted or needed it before walking in the door. It's definitely worth it to stop by!

On Wednesday nights they run a board game night that is very well attended, and D&D runs that night as well.

I love the Starbucks is inside also . I love how Barnes & Noble has a kids program and that they can get a free treat at Starbucks. We also take part in the summer reading program where they get a free book if they read 10 books. I know the Barnes & Noble is going to have a really awesome selection and I love how they've been keeping a great stock of sprayed edge books , which are my friends favorite so it's my favorite to give her for holidays. I feel like they have their books group really well so that it is very easy to know where to go for what you need . Their game section is thoughtfully curated. I love to read the notes from employees about their favorite books. I know this is a chain, but sometimes when I'm having a bad day, I go in just because it feels like Home . I will say that their bathroom is pretty disgusting unfortunately. Most of the employees have been very kind and helpful, but there will be the occasional employee that huffs and puffs when you ask for help. Honestly, I just really love that I can go get two of my favorite things in the same building . It's also really close to the hospital so when my husband has procedures, I pop in and browse the books while I'm waiting. Thank you, Barnes & Noble for being such a happy place !

He was super polite too, but she was so rude. We then went on to say how rude that was because he simply asked for help finding an item that she was quite literally stocking at the time. And when we pointed out that it was rude, she said "that's his second time asking me to help him find something" to which we said that that shouldn't matter. This man was NOT asking her for anything other than help finding an item in the area he had been looking for it in. Then after we had been talking to her, another employee came up and they were obviously talking about us because they got quiet and said "let's go over there". The woman who worked at Target was lying about the whole situation and this man was really polite and non confrontational. It was really disappointing to say the least and the way the other employees were acting was so unprofessional. I know nothing will be done about this situation if I talked to a manager which is also disappointing, but still thought I'd share my encounter. The employee's name is Michelle. Very rude.

The demise of the old school hobby shops has left a void that's hard to fill. Some of Ann Arbor's…read moreold shops doubled as toy stores (used to be a good one for lead and pre painted miniatures at the old Arbor Land Mall), Kay-B Hobbies at Briarwood was good for models and basic paint supplies as well as a decent selection of Avalon Hill boardgames. Even Meijer Thrifty Acres wasn't half bad in the hobby division. The best all around though was Ryder's on W. Liberty St. They had it all: Trains, D & D, board games, miniatures, motorized cars and planes, etc... By the second decade of the 2000s these were defunct options, so it was great accidentally stumbling across Warhammer in the Lamp Post Plaza where Trader Joe's can also be found. A few years ago there was a vitamin store of sorts here but apparently they're long gone. Anyhow, I was dying to go in and see what they had. Upon entering the host greeted us, perhaps a bit too peppy, but a nice guy nevertheless. The store was packed with all things Warhammer, which is a longstanding miniatures war game where beautifully painted armies of miniatures are maneuvered into combat where ultimately the luck of a die roll determines the stated up front outcome. Sample dialogue overheard: "I'm going to shoot him in the face with my pistol", then the die roll followed.... a miss. So basically it's a male geek's club 99.9% of the time. Lucky for me I have a geeky gf and she was just as interested in checking out the stock and displays as I was. They even had a table where people can paint their newly acquired figures-- Citadel Paints and brushes, as well as that brand's outstanding tools were accessible. I doubt that option is free since the average price for one color paint pod is $4+, nevertheless, I wager it's worth every penny for someone unable to shoulder the high cost of the hobby. All-in-all, we left with a couple of miniatures, a paint brush-water holder and an expandable figure base holder to facilitate steady detailing.

It was closed today but it looked nice inside. Open tables, paints and terrain. Great for a…read moreWarhammer gamer.
