Service requested: recover computer data. TLDR: Khalid decided my Mac problem was caused by a power surge before he saw my computer, despite what I told him. He pushed me to buy his UPS, Uninterrupted Power Supply. I did not. So, I paid $89 mainly to hear a sales pitch. Not good value for the money. He also showed up a day early without calling first and pushed me hard to let him in then. I did not. He showed up an hour and 15 minutes early the day of the appointment. Pushy and presumptuous. -- Longer version: Khalid helped me 10+ years ago with a computer issue and I was happy with the results. I called him again because I hoped that Geek Squad was wrong when they they told me my computer failure was caused by memory overload.and that my data was lost forever. I told Khalid my 9-year-old Mac several times displayed messages showing it was running more processes than it had memory. I deleted some processes, but not enough. The Mac then crashed and would not reboot, other than to say that I had too much data stored compared to the memory. So...too many processes running plus too much data. Yet, Khalid insisted on the phone and at my home that the crash/failure was likely caused by a power surge. (This is a valid concern, but most Macs fail because of other issues; estimates are 5-15% caused by power surges.) He pushed to sell me a UPS (uninterrupted power supply unit.) I declined. Also: Khalid did not respect our appointment time. We were set for 10 a.m. on a Thursday. He showed up at my home at 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, texted and called, wanting to fix the problem NOW. When I told him I had an appointment in New Kent, he pushed again to come in NOW, insisting his diagnosis would not take long. That's pushy. I said no, and left for my appointment. If I had let him in, I would have been too late to have my pre-paid important appointment. I texted him later and said I was happy to reschedule Thursday if the time didn't work for him. He did not respond. But he showed up at 8:44 a.m. for a 10 a.m. appointment and texted and called again, wanting to begin right away. That's presumptuous; at a minimum call first. Khalid, if you are reading this, I implore you to quit being a pushy salesman, respect your appointment times, and return to your previous high level of service. I've never written a review that was uncomplimentary before, but I want people to know that my experience was totally unsatisfactory and I'm unhappy with the service I received from this business. I am a woman in my late 70s, and like many my age, have an elementary understanding of how computers work, but able to use them in a basic way. Khalid was hired to come to my home to transfer data from an old iMac desktop to a newly purchased used one. In addition, I have multiple Apple devices that needed syncing and my primary email was no longer working. Khalid held me hostage by his side for FIVE HOURS, while he tried to figure out how to do his job, demanding I watch him carefully as he slowly entered passwords to, as he put it,  avoid disaster and lose all my data. He admitted to being confused and everything he did just caused things to get worse. He blamed it all on too many emails "clogging up" the system. The drama increased by the hour, hours I was being charged $100 for. After three hours, I was telling him we had to wrap it up, my brain was fried and I couldn't take any more, especially since his wife called every hour to yell at him--on speaker-- to come home. Finally, my husband intervened and told him to leave. He got his check for $500, assigned me to delete multiple thousands of emails as homework, then have him return to resume "fixing" my problems at his $100 an hour rate. His final act was to pull up the Yelp site and ask me to write a review while he watched. I refused. He texted me several times throughout the next two weeks to ask if I had finished deleting emails. My son visited me and got my email to work, then contacted Khalid when he heard what had happened, asking for a refund of at least half of my money as he considered his actions to be elder abuse. At first, he agreed, then did not follow through. I do not recommend this business. read more

Double thumbs up to We Fix Computers by Khalid! We'd decided it was time to switch our internet service provider to Cox, and also needed a new modem/router. Khalid provided a single unit that took care of both needs, then set up both desktops, a laptop, an iPad, two printers, and both of our phones to the new router. What I enjoy most about working with Khalid is that he takes the time to answer queries in an understandable manner without making you feel like an idiot. Recommendations? Khalid came to my parents home and criticized their brand new Dell computers, he removed McAfee and installed a NO NAME virus protector of which conflicted with the Dell computers. Khalid was at my parents home for several hours and did nothing but talk down and criticized their computers. After Khalid left, their computers were no better than when he began working on them. They had to get the next door neighbor which is an IT person for the US Army to come over and undo everything Khalid had done and actually fixed my parents computers. We definitely would not recommend using this company. Unless you enjoy being belittled.and criticized. read more
