And depending on what you want, it's a decent substitute. There's a handful of casinos and hotels-not on par with the luxury ones in Sin City, but respectable, for the most part. If you're into golfing, you can do that just about year-round here, since it stays warm through the winter. You may want to avoid the hottest months of the year-golfing in August can be brutal. Mesquite has a small town feel to it-talk to the locals and you'll find yourself quickly amongst the gossip of who's who and who's doing what. I get the feeling that those who have lived here a long time would prefer that things stop growing-just like most small town lifers. But by the looks of things, I don't see it slowing down any time soon.

I went and picked her up, payed $100 for the adoption which included her spay, vaccines and they kindly supplied me with food for a few weeks. The gentleman with with black hair and glasses, he's wonderful. Im so upset I can't remember his name but he is very kind and knowledgeable on all the kittens inside. Lulu is very nice as well. I've seen multiple comments where people are bashing her attitude and saying things that just aren't true. I have met with and dealt with lulu on multiple occasions now and although she is very to the point and direct, she is far from rude. Her job is to adopt out helpless animals to good homes. If you get denied it isn't her fault. Dont try to adopt a puppy for your 90 year old grandma... it's just not a good fit you know? And if you just became an adult yesterday... yeah I wouldn't trust you with $5 bill let alone something with a heartbeat. Lulu is very considerate and loves the animals inside. She is direct and is a no nonsense type of person. If that isn't something you can respect, especially in this industry, then adopting anything EVER isnt really in your cards. My kitten was struggling and when I called up PAWS just to ask a simple question, Lulu helped me in making sure my kitten was taken care of, and for the coming weeks. This was absolutely without a doubt the best adoption experience I have ever had. Ill recommend this time and time again. GREAT people. GREAT atmosphere.

These guys take great care of all the animals that are in their care. I have called them out one time to my property because someone's turtle had found it's way into my yard. They were there within 10 minutes. I should start by saying that I was aware that this shelter was a kill shelter but I was under the…read moreimpression that that was because they had to be not because they wanted to be. I was also under the impression that they only killed animals if they were very very sick. So, I continued to donate supplies to this shelter over the course of a few years. Now on to my point. About a year and a half ago one of my neighbors abandoned their cats. They stopped caring for them completley and I took them in. I never intended to keep these cats but I couldnt find an immediate home so I did. I cared for them and took them to the vet regularly. One of the cats developed a bacterial infection that caused him to pee blood. I got that treated and he was totally healthy. Unfortunately, when he was sick he developed a habit of peeing in on stuff and not using his litter box. He still used it occasionally, but he would pee in alternative locations. I did everything I could to change this behavior, including medicines and hollistic methods. In addition to this, he started beating up on my other cat. With these things I realized it wasn't fair to my other cat for me to keep him. I was not willing to lie about his habits and I couldn't find him a home on my own. So on Thursday of last week I was so defeated that I decided to surrender him to this animal shelter. I didn't have a choice because law states that you have to surrender your animals to the same shelter as the town you live in. If I could have went to St. George or Ivins I would have. I even contacted PAWS and before I could tell them the story they yelled at me and told me they don't take animals from the public and advised I take him to my local shelter. Anyway, thats what I did. When I got there I told the workers everything. I did not leave any of the behavior issues out. After I assured them that he isn't sick and that its just a behavior problem, they agreed to take him. They assured me that they would not put him down if he wasn't sick. They said they don't put animals down for behavior problems unless its violence toward other animals or humans. I was crying, so maybe thats why they chose to say that, I don't know. Anyway, we called everyday and even went in to the shelter to check on him and make sure he was okay. This Thursday, my husband went in unannounced to bring them some bleach that we wanted to donate. I believe he caught him off guard because their attitudes totally changed. They were rude and acted like terrible people. They informed him that the cat started marking again and that they planned to euthenize him because of it. AFTER THEY ASSURED ME THEY WOULD NOT KILL HIM OVER A BEHAVIOR PROBLEM. So, my husband took the cat back because we were not about to allow this cat to be murdered for no reason. After picking him up we talked to some people who are associated with Best Friends Animal Society and were informed that this specific shelter CHOOSES to be a kill shelter. That means that Best Friends has offered to partner with them and they are CHOOSING to kill animals. This shelter told me that they are affiliated with the local rescues and that they often have the rescues pull animals from them. According to the people at best friends, this is true to a certain extent. Which makes me wonder if thats the case why were they so quick to try to put down this cat for behavior problems instead of contacting a rescue like best friends who has staff who are trained to handle behavior problems? Apparently this shelter used to be way worse but they still have a long way to go. As far as my specific situation, I now see that these people are not good people at all and that I made a mistake ever stepping foot in this shelter, let alone leaving a living breathing cat there for a whole week. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE! I honestly think if my husband hadn't walked in when he did they would have put down this cat and then lied to us about it. THEY ARE NOT HONEST.

My Daisy orchestrated this last rescue. My adoption has been approved and I once again have a new buddy to love and spoil rotten. Truly a match delivered from the otherside of the Rainbow Bridge. Rescues need our help. Volunteer, donate, adopt...support anyway you can. These volunteers, these organizations are staffed by angels doing God's work, caring and rescuing God's vulnerable creatures. Heather has a gentle manner and gets to know your pet before you hand them over by asking thoughtful questions. She is knowledeable and compassionate which is the perfect combo for a trainer. I was impressed that you hear zero barking when you arrive whch further validates that all the pups feeling safe and comfortable. Heather looks for the root causes of behaviour and offers training to correct that vs a cooke cutter approach. I wish I was in the area longer to take advantage of her expertise.
