I can say that in two years of learning about reefing, I've only scratched the surface of knowledge in the hobby. But I can safely say that greatest wealth of knowledge that I've gained, and the greatest service that I've received in that time has been from Jen at Salty Fins. With over 18 years of experience in the hobby and business, her and Mike have helped me to navigate and progress from my first 13 gallon Nano tank, to now my two pride and joy tanks - 60 gallon and 150 gallon. They've guided me right every time, from dealing with the uglies, managing water quality and parameters, helping build a healthy ecosystem, and doing the best to have tanks that I enjoy, but also provide a healthy habitat for all inhabitants. I spend a lot of time in the store just chatting with Jen and learning, and after two years I'm starting to get a grasp of it, and really understanding how these complex ecosystems work *after they get established*. Two months isn't even long enough for live rock to come alive... Jen has *ALWAYS* treated me fairly, and that's why I come back day after day, week after week. Not everything has always survived that I've purchased and put in my tanks. On the eve of Thanksgiving, we were told our puppy was very sick, needed a surgery that starts anywhere from $8-$10 THOUSAND asap, and that it won't guarantee her to live since she is a Frenchie. Then they said she needed another surgery after that for something else, which was over $10 THOUSAND. We decided to go pick her up from our vet and make a hard decision to put her down. I started calling around Vegas with info that our vet gave us, and the Vets that did answer said the same price, and the risk was huge! I started doing a wider search in California, Arizona, and Utah. Finally, I called Lava Rock, Ashley answered, I asked A LOT of questions, she patiently answered all of them, and she set up an appointment for the next day. We packed our bags, along with our other dog (so if the surgery was successful, and she needed aftercare, we would stay out in St. George). We arrived, and the first thing they noticed was how well our puppy was acting. Dr Murdock went over all Philly's records and did an exam. She let us know that after the exam, she didn't see any reason to put our girl down. We were SHOCKED AND CONFUSED (crying happy tears now) as this was such a serious life-threatening problem, so we asked her to take an X-ray to reassure us. On top of that, when she sent me his records she "forgot" some stickers for the vaccines so she added it later. When trying to discuss my concerns with her, she completely ignored me and bombarded me with reviews of happy customers and said her bad review was addressed and it was the purchaser fault. In addition, when trying to state my concern she said I have no knowledge of dogs, tho I grew up with dogs my whole life and had a total of 4 as of today, and that since she is a dental hygienist she knows how to treat a dog better than a vet. On top of everything, I noticed the vaccine records of Fester does not even match my puppys vaccine records from what the vet gave her. She told me I just don't know how to read the label. But she doesn't realized dogs with EU passports have the vaccine name, signature from vet, and label from the vaccine bottle placed in it as record. I tried to request my deposit back and she ignored me and told me to stop committing wit her. She is very unprofessional and will not listen to you. All she does is PUSH PUSH PUSH the sale onto you and force you to buy the dog and play mind games on you making it seem you are not knowledge compared to her. I do not recommend purchasing from her!!!! If 0 stars was possible, that is what she would have gotten.

I inquired about doing a chest x-ray to check her heart and they said it was not necessary. Not too long after that I had to drive her to an emergency vet on the weekend in St. George and they did a chest x-ray, and her heart was so enlarged that it was pushing her esophagus and anatomy sideways. The doctor in St. George was appalled by the lack of care that my pom had received at VVVH. I had to put her down shortly after that. I called them and told them what had happened and they took zero responsibility for their lack of actions. I even provided her x-rays to them and I got nothing. They fired me as a patient. This place is run with such arrogance and like a dictatorship. They think they can do whatever they want because of the lack of vet services in this town. I would never take my pet to them!

Murphy looked great when I picked him up, and what really stood out was how calm and happy he seemed afterward compared to some of his previous grooming experiences. It's clear they care about the dogs they work with and take pride in what they do. My dog sustained a cut on the leg during grooming, which was treated with "vet glue" and a bandage. Initially, it was described as a minor injury that would heal quickly. However, after a week, it became apparent that stitches were necessary. This has resulted in substantial vet expenses. I would not recommend this groomer. Full disclosure: My dog was matted before being groomed which I was clear about before the groom BUT she has been matted before and we've taken her to several groomers and not once has she been cut, so I'm not accepting that reasoning to be valid.

One of them is super shy and skittish but has warmed up to Ethan no problem. The other (the one in the photos) is a little stand off-ish and can be reactive towards men. Ethan has been doing great with her, she is still warming up to him but I'm sure they will be friends soon. I love the convenience of having someone come run the dogs on the treadmill for me after I get home from work so this has been pretty great to have!! Highly recommend!!
