That's not happening at Starby's, and it's better than McD's and other alternatives that might have a similar price. They've also expanded their menu of drinks and eats, though we didn't try anything new this time. My nephews loved the hot chocolate (so much better than Starby's in their assessment), and my Butter Bear was perfect, if still too sweet. Alas, that is Biggby's weakness, too sweet, and for caramel and butterscotch, what else should I expect.

Today, I decided to take a stroll on down to OhMi and get a 20oz cold brew. Such a phenomenal day for weather out there people, the best of the year so far, I do say! As I enter the business, I'm greeted with a friendly hello and I begin looking around as there were some folks ahead of me. They have wonderful merchandise for sale as well as healthy kombucha drinks along with their chocolates and coffee of course. I would recommend all their chocolates. So packed with flavor and often fudge like, they're kept cold, and they have, I believe, 180 or so flavors! However, I was only looking for a cold brew today! "Well, what did you order already?! Tell us!" Okay, okay, I'll tell ya. I asked what they'd recommend as I'm down to try any and all flavors! The friendly lady said they have a special from St. Patrick's Day still available that has some sort of Irish Whiskey flavor. She went into greater detail about the drink, but it escapes my mind, sorry y'all. But anyways, I was already sold! Well, it turns out it was thirsty Thursday, so I got a dollar off my drink! Absolutely awesome, can't beat a 20oz for only $4 and at this quality too! I decided to get one chocolate because why not? I got the superior fudge which I devoured about 20 feet outside of the shop! They gave me a free two-pack of chocolate surprise cookies too! The good folks in there are always giving away free goodies, and I'm down for it! The cookies were super soft with a hint of what I feel is a molasses taste. Almost like the delicious homemade molasses cookies my mom used to make! The chocolate surprise is in the center, and it's a smooth light chocolate! I highly enjoyed them, thanks! The coffee was phenomenal and refreshing. The coffee here has never disappointed, and I love trying all the different varieties! These people are like mad scientists when it comes to the flavors, but they're doing nothing but good in the community and in their shop too! Love this place and always look forward to coming back! Service is fast and friendly. They'll keep your coffee cup full and make sure you've got all you need with your meal. Nothing here is the best I've ever had, but everything is solid enough, and there are lots of local regulars who seem to agree.

When this turns into a paranoia so debilitating that you are chasing customers away, it's time to reexamine your processes. My adventure began when I stopped at this station to fuel up on my way to my client's facility. When I used my credit card at the pump, I was met with my old foe, the Zipcode verification. As a visitor to the United States (I am Canadian), I would expect that businesses would build in some sort of process for accommodating foreign visitors. Given that Michigan borders with Canada, one would think that verification of a Canadian VISA card would be a simple matter. When I do encounter this, the normal process would be to give my credit card to the attendant as a guarantee, and then to fill my tank, and finish the transaction with the attendant. However, at this specific station, that seemed to be beyond the comprehension of the attendant, and of the manager on site. No, I would have to estimate the fuel cost, have them process the transaction, then fill to that amount. If the vehicle holds less, they would then do a credit transaction for the difference. I can just see the face of my accountant reconciling all these transactions. However, faced with an empty fuel tank, I had them process my transaction while I went back to my vehicle to fill my tank. As I get ready to pump, I get a call on the intercom that they can't (won't?) activate the pump unless I return inside to sign the transaction. So, back inside I go, sign the transaction, then return to the vehicle. I select my grade of fuel, only to be told by the pump that I have selected an "invalid grade", whatever that means. Okay, enough. Time to find a more accommodating business. I retrieve my credit card, have them cancel the transaction (I hope), and leave. As I am walking out the door, I get the snide comment from the manager from behind, "Every station is going to do the same." Then a snarky "You have a great day!" Two blocks away, an Admiral station. I pull up, insert my credit card, and it approves. I pump gas, get my receipt, and I am ready to go. Definitely a station that appreciates its customers.
