There's a lot of seating throughout and you should be able to find a quiet spot. They have the newer self checkout kiosks now so you don't have to chit chat if that's not your thing. The librarians do seem friendly though. The cafe isn't open past 6 on any day but it seems to have sandwiches, soups and baked goods; there are a few tables to sit as well. Nutley Library is the bee's knees…read more It's located off one of the main streets tucked away in its own little spot. The library itself is huge. Two floors and countless sections. When you first walk in you get greeted by the friendly workers and the new arrivals along with popular book choices. Most of the first floor is nonfiction and they have it all laid out perfectly. Just from walking through the first time I saw a ton of books that have been on my list for a while now. Upstairs is fiction, kids section, magazines and the quiet corner which I love. It's a spot all the way in the back that's perfect for studying or reading without being disturbed. I'm just very shocked at the amount of books they have. I'm a bit of a library snob and this is a great one. They have comic books, magazines, even a small dungeons and dragons nook! Hahaha. The workers are great here, they helped me find a book I've been looking for for quite a while now and actually had been waiting for another library to get for me. They had it available right away. This is a fantastic spot, part of BCCLS and just overall really well laid out. Can't give it enough praise.

Full disclosure: it was my mother who looked up the Dey Mansion and requested to go there on a recent-ish visit. It wouldn't have been my first choice of things to do on a sunny Saturday but she's the guest and a total history nerd and it was something to check out. I can't say I didn't enjoy it at least a little bit... while my mom is a history nerd, I'm a design nerd and the house itself, built by the Dey Family, is beauuuuuufitul. The brick, the wide plank wood floors inside, the gorgeous [paint] colors used throughout were just striking on every level. Then the layout and design and function of the house back in the 1700's is so different then how we live in our homes now -- so interesting. The gardens surrounding the property are also so lovely. Here's my one issue with the historical site and tour -- when we inquired we were told it was 'less than an hour for sure' depending on how many people/questions. While the tour guide was nice enough, he was verrrrrrry long winded. There were 6 of us.. and that tour was most definitely longer than an hour. Not sure if that's the case every time but just something to be prepared for should you decide to visit. Cost for the tours was supposed to be $5 but during out visit they had just begun some restorations and certain spaces were closed off... so they didn't insist on guest paying. They still accepted donations though. Parking is also free, fyi. And the mansion is easy to get to from routes 23, 46 and 80.

Today, we spent almost 4+ hours here & I needed to convince my kiddies to leave. I love coming here in the summer to keep my kiddies off the screen! There is plenty of parking, the bathrooms are clean (but need updating, one out of two sinks work), staff is friendly, and there many books/ DVDs/ games to choose from. Check them out!

This event occurs only two days out of the week...Mondays, from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM and Tuesdays, from 10:00 AM - Noon. When you enter the library, make your way to the upstairs loft and that's where you'll see the opportunity to purchase literature and items that'll be humongous bargains. I couldn't believe the prices and the vast selection that you'll peruse. If you need any assistance, or have any questions, staff members are more than helpful and very knowledgeable. Try to visit this loft, soon. I'm certain, that you'll find something worth buying and enjoy rummaging through their many nostalgic merchandise.
