If you like browsing around, there are probably better, more well stocked, newer libraries (like Montclair) but since the libraries are so interconnected, it's really easy to request what you want and come to receive when notified. I do think the parking can be annoying because it's either meter or wait until after 6 when the meters are free. This is unusual in my experience to not have free parking at a library, so it is a knock against it, but overall I like this place so I lean more towards a 4.

I had to print a large amount of copies and the copy machine just looked at me like "hey you're screwed". I'm a hairdresser I had no idea how to use this life sized machine. Luckily one of the gals working was so so sweet, stopped everything she was doing and came over to help me! I was so grateful I could stop thanking her. Copies are ten cents there and I would've paid so much more because she was so helpful and sweet. They normally have a great selection of new books too, access to a nice amount of computers as well. The only drawback to this library is that it does not have its own parking lot. Depending on the time of the day it can be hard to find a spot because it's located right on the main avenue of the town. You can usually find a spot on the side streets. Overall it's a fantastic library, definitely recommend it if you need to get some work done or are just looking to get lost in a good book.

This…read moreis mainly because of convenience because it's much closer than my school library and I'm one of those people who need to leave my apartment to get work done efficiently. The library itself is very nice and has an amazing staff that are very helpful. However it has fewer amenities compared with other libraries. The few things they do offer is free wifi, computer access, as well as the obvious books/references. There are roughly 12-20 tables to sit and read. They also have a "security guard" that is usually present during all hours if you need someone to watch your stuff if you step out. Most places to sit have electrical outlets if you need to plug in a cellphone/laptop/tablet/etc. Overall this is a nice library and the only reason I gave it 3 stars is because it is SUPER NOISY, especially after kids get out of school!!! I can't stress this part enough!!!! Don't be surprised when people are answering cellphone calls, laughing, or carrying on full conversations as if they were at a sporting event. It's not your stereotypical...."Shhhhh be quiet and if you must speak wisper" -type of library. There are also private tutors that use this space to help adults and children with language lessons and after school tutoring, so there will be constant noise anytime after 12pm on schooldays. So make sure you bring headphones with music or earplugs if you are like me and need to drown out background noise. I also forgot to mention they a very small museum upstairs and a children's library that is located in the back and I've never really spent any time in either location to be honest. From what I've seen, the library has a pretty decent selection of books and constantly change their available displays for popular new reads.

Some events are for certain age groups/ populations, like seniors, teens, parents. Etc, while others are open to the general public. Activities range from practice career guidance to social events like movie screenings and even wine tasting. Every time I come to the library, the staff at the front desk is always very friendly and helpful. The librarian is also knowledgeable and able to point me In the right direction whenever I have a specific topic or title I'm looking for. I'm a big fan of the inter-library book exchange. You're able to place a request online for almost any book and pick it up at the Fort Lee branch when it becomes available. It's super convenient. Another great feature of this library is their partnership with museums in nyc. As a former NYC resident i was worried about missing out on some of the perks of being an NYC resident, but I found out that you actually get free access to to several museums with your Fort Lee Library card and you can request passes for a few guests as well. Overall, this library isn't the largestor necessarily the most modern, but it has mostly everything you could need or want from a local library. It's certainly nicer than my local library growing up and the service is always friendly. 4.5 stars

There's an accessible ramp outside along with an accessible elevator inside to go downstairs. The main floor is a little small but that's okay. I mostly take advantage of their hold/pick up service. You can easily reserve any book from any JC library to any location! You're able to pick up in one spot and drop off in another. Also their downstairs space is a game changer for professionals. They have adult workstations, little cubicles, and even sound proof rooms for meetings. This is something I struggled with at the five corners branch but now there's a place for professionals to work. Youth upstairs and adult downstairs. The whole community is serviced. Let's cover the positives first: It's very convenient, within a 10 minute walk from the Path train station. The outside is obviously dated, but it is very clean and looks new on the inside. It is sizeable, with 2 floors and 2 computer areas - one for adults and one for children. It has a small free parking lot for visitors with about 4 available spots. They offer free or low-cost printer services, such as printing, scanning, and faxing. This is where my only negative experience comes in. The only downside I have encountered is in the customer service, particularly with one employee. Here's my experience: I started going to the library recently, and noticed a flyer posted that "the library offers up to 20 free courtesy prints for children PRESENT in the library." So, I tried it out and 2 employees there gave me no problem at all once I showed them my child was present. Then one day I came back, and when requesting the free prints, an elder female Indian employee gave quite a hard time. She claimed the published rule that the child has to be present wasn't enough for the free prints, making up new rules on the spot: 1. The child has to have a library card. 2. The child has to make an appointment for a computer. 3. The child has to print from the computer. 4. The prints have to be for the child's school work/homework. She communicated these new and non-standard rules to the staff member there and who continued to follow them in subsequent visits. This employee also asks non-standard questions, such as what the prints are before she releases them. When she made my child's library card, she even asked what grade level he is in, although the school name was the only required information. This excessive prying into details raises significant privacy concerns. This employees seems to be overreaching in her authority with patrons and staff, even when providing a mandated free service. And her habit of distracting employees with gossip while they are assisting patrons only sours the experience further. Perhaps she overlooks the fact that our tax payer dollars fund both all the library services and her employment. On the other hand, with the exception of this one employee, the rest of the staff are delightful. Especially Nelly, who was tremendously helpful, going above and beyond to make my family feel comfortable and welcome. Based on my positive experiences with most employees, this remains my go-to neighborhood library.

It's also nice and quiet with plenty of room to do your own thing. I look forward to seeing what type of events they host as well as using their literary resources
