Nutley Library is the bee's knees. It's located off one of the main streets tucked away in its own little spot. The library itself is huge. Two floors and countless sections. When you first walk in you get greeted by the friendly workers and the new arrivals along with popular book choices. Most of the first floor is nonfiction and they have it all laid out perfectly. Just from walking through the first time I saw a ton of books that have been on my list for a while now. Upstairs is fiction, kids section, magazines and the quiet corner which I love. It's a spot all the way in the back that's perfect for studying or reading without being disturbed. I'm just very shocked at the amount of books they have. I'm a bit of a library snob and this is a great one. They have comic books, magazines, even a small dungeons and dragons nook! Hahaha. The workers are great here, they helped me find a book I've been looking for for quite a while now and actually had been waiting for another library to get for me. They had it available right away. This is a fantastic spot, part of BCCLS and just overall really well laid out. Can't give it enough praise. read more

I enjoy going to the library with my children to escape - if only for a short time - the clutches of digital devices. The website needs work and updating. The library is pleasant and has a nice selection. When there are items in local libraries you can order them and get email updates. You can also renew online. They also have great programs for the smaller kids. The bad: how is it everything else is back to operating at regular hours except the local government? Not only do they mandate face coverings, but the hours are altered to the equivalent of bankers hours (see photo). The area for teenagers am has desks and tables piled in a corner and roped off with caution tape. Yet, shop rite is open and the minimum wage workers are fine. I understand that the majority of Nutley residents are independently wealthy, but some of us have households where everyone works. 10:00 to 4:00 isn't even an 8 hour day and not realistic for working families (you know the ones that need the library!) The sad thing is emails and calls from the people this effects go unheeded. read more

I mostly use this library for picking up books that I've reserved and returning ones that I've read. The clerks are always polite and a bit chatty. The front desk appears very cluttered. The parking is street only and not often available. read more

To this day, everyone is welcome through the door, whether you're rich or poor. It's not a huge library but they do have a nice selection of books. Whether your into battles or biography, gerbils or ghosts, sharks or birthmarks, whatever your addiction, there's something here for everyone. Give this Library a try sometime, no gurantees it will be quiet all the time. Kids are loud and proud. It's inevitable! Lastly, on my last visit here, there were two singers on the 2nd floor. Some "thinkers" may have found this annoying but I thought it was a treat. So for today's agenda, come and browse and borrow. If not, it'll still be here tomorrow. read more

I love this library, they always have special events for kids of all ages and the people are really helpful. They have a amazing selection of CDs and DVDs that I use for my History through Film class. They are part of the BCCLS of libraries and can get you books they don't have in stock. read more

Probably the best library in the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (at least as far as Essex County libraries). The selection of non-fiction is enormous and they usually have all new releases available on or before the day of their release. read more

I stopped in here last night to pick up a couple of DVD's. This library is part of the BCCLS system (Bergen County Cooperative Library System). This means that you can borrow books, CD's, and DVD's from any of the 75 participating libraries. I actually belong to a different member library, but was thrilled that I could just stop here and pick up what I wanted without having to wait for requested material to make it to my home library. A great small town library feel. It has quiet areas to study, has a great selection of books, and it's very well-kept/clean. I'm not originally from Nutley, but the entire area surrounding the library is also very pleasant. It's next to a high school, local shops, and eateries. The library staff are very friendly and helpful. I haven't had any issues with the WiFi. The only downside is the parking. The library has street free street parking, but only for 90 minutes, so if you plan on spending the day studying here you have to make sure you go out every so often and move your car. Great library - lots of books and DVD options. Interconnected with the other library systems so you can rent books that they don't have here. The staff are always helpful and polite. I love the children's room where they have toys, puzzles, and hold weekly activities. Parking is the only issue here since there aren't too many close spaces, but the online reservation and renewal system is quite useful. read more
