Fort lee public library dies a great job at community engagement. They host regular weekly…read moreprogramming as well as special events, which they advertise in their news bulletin. Some events are for certain age groups/ populations, like seniors, teens, parents. Etc, while others are open to the general public. Activities range from practice career guidance to social events like movie screenings and even wine tasting. Every time I come to the library, the staff at the front desk is always very friendly and helpful. The librarian is also knowledgeable and able to point me In the right direction whenever I have a specific topic or title I'm looking for. I'm a big fan of the inter-library book exchange. You're able to place a request online for almost any book and pick it up at the Fort Lee branch when it becomes available. It's super convenient. Another great feature of this library is their partnership with museums in nyc. As a former NYC resident i was worried about missing out on some of the perks of being an NYC resident, but I found out that you actually get free access to to several museums with your Fort Lee Library card and you can request passes for a few guests as well. Overall, this library isn't the largestor necessarily the most modern, but it has mostly everything you could need or want from a local library. It's certainly nicer than my local library growing up and the service is always friendly. 4.5 stars

I pride myself on being a great listener, it's what I do best. From what I noticed, this library has a lot of books and the staff is quite helpful. From the friendly staff I learned that you can go on an app and/or a website to obtain an audio book or even ebooks. Therefore, you do not need to come to the old fashioned library unless you have nothing better to do. Only reason for the 4star review is: NO PARKING!!! This library has a shared municipal parking with the town hall and all their employees occupy it during the day. You have better luck of winning the lotto than finding a spot!

I have left posterior tibial tendinopathy in my foot, and I was repeatedly questioned about removing my shoes despite trying to manage my condition. Everyone should be able to use a public library without feeling singled out, constantly watched, or uncomfortable because of a medical issue. For me, the experience became so unpleasant that I decided not to return. I sincerely hope the library can foster a more welcoming and understanding environment for all visitors, especially those with health even temporarily conditions

The current location was opened in 1983. The library is on two floors and I a few hours at a desk upstairs where it was quiet and peaceful. Power outlets for charging, free wifi for surfing and working, and no interruptions other than a couple of kids who got shushed by the librarian. A more than pleasant time. Non-residents can use the library and the wifi. You only need to be a resident if you're wanting to borrow materials from the library. And they have more than books! Museum passes, wifi hotspots, even Chromebooks are available to be borrowed. [Review 18327 overall - 160 in New Jersey - 1849 of 2022.]

This is my home library, and it's one of my absolute favorite neighborhood spots. This library's on…read morethe smaller side and attached to a neighborhood senior center but because it's nestled in a mostly-residential area, I've never struggled to find street parking. The smallness of the library means the self-service aspect of more modern libraries aren't available. Books placed on hold are kept behind the counter, so one of the librarians have to retrieve them AND check out all your books. I see this as a plus and a minus. Sure, my visits take just a little longer, but it means I have to have some human contact with every visit and that's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, my favorite librarian is a bit of a visual genius. After a few visits, she's come to recognize me on sight and grabs my library holds the second she sees me coming through the door. You don't get that kind of personal service from a machine. While there aren't a ton of titles in this particular library, the interlibrary loan system works beautifully. I'll search for whatever book I need through the website and - if it's available at another location within the system - I'll receive it here within a matter of days. I've also come to appreciate the rich programming. There's a busy calendar of events for all ages from month to month, and there was a summer reading program this past summer for all ages, with raffles to incentivize reading. I was happily surprised to be one of the raffle winners, but even if I weren't, I would absolutely encourage locals to participate because there were trinket prizes just for reading a certain number of books. Though this library is small, the children's section is a delight, complete with a carpeted seating area... and a tree! It's fake, of course, but large and looming enough that it adds a ton of charm. This clearly attracts a lot of kiddos, which sometimes means the library loses its quietude with the squeaks and squeals of little ones. I'm not personally bothered by it, but possibly something to consider for patrons who need absolute silence.

I went to go inquire about this and was told a firm "no" by the woman that worked there. I brought up that there was *literally* no one else in the library for the computers and the answer was still no, EVEN with the notice. The Staff member provided no proof other explanation , covid related or otherwise. I understand that she is doing her job but I think updating the terms of computer use and being a bit friendlier would've left a better taste in my mouth.

Really love this library, I remember coming here when I was super young and bringing a bag with me…read moreso I could carry my 6 new books out easily. Is it clear I'm a nerd? I had to print a large amount of copies and the copy machine just looked at me like "hey you're screwed". I'm a hairdresser I had no idea how to use this life sized machine. Luckily one of the gals working was so so sweet, stopped everything she was doing and came over to help me! I was so grateful I could stop thanking her. Copies are ten cents there and I would've paid so much more because she was so helpful and sweet. They normally have a great selection of new books too, access to a nice amount of computers as well. The only drawback to this library is that it does not have its own parking lot. Depending on the time of the day it can be hard to find a spot because it's located right on the main avenue of the town. You can usually find a spot on the side streets. Overall it's a fantastic library, definitely recommend it if you need to get some work done or are just looking to get lost in a good book.

I'm currently in Grad school so I come to this library often when I need to get studying done. This…read moreis mainly because of convenience because it's much closer than my school library and I'm one of those people who need to leave my apartment to get work done efficiently. The library itself is very nice and has an amazing staff that are very helpful. However it has fewer amenities compared with other libraries. The few things they do offer is free wifi, computer access, as well as the obvious books/references. There are roughly 12-20 tables to sit and read. They also have a "security guard" that is usually present during all hours if you need someone to watch your stuff if you step out. Most places to sit have electrical outlets if you need to plug in a cellphone/laptop/tablet/etc. Overall this is a nice library and the only reason I gave it 3 stars is because it is SUPER NOISY, especially after kids get out of school!!! I can't stress this part enough!!!! Don't be surprised when people are answering cellphone calls, laughing, or carrying on full conversations as if they were at a sporting event. It's not your stereotypical...."Shhhhh be quiet and if you must speak wisper" -type of library. There are also private tutors that use this space to help adults and children with language lessons and after school tutoring, so there will be constant noise anytime after 12pm on schooldays. So make sure you bring headphones with music or earplugs if you are like me and need to drown out background noise. I also forgot to mention they a very small museum upstairs and a children's library that is located in the back and I've never really spent any time in either location to be honest. From what I've seen, the library has a pretty decent selection of books and constantly change their available displays for popular new reads.
