I really enjoyed their summer reading program they offered this year for adults. My biggest complaint is with a few of the staff members. There are a few staff who are very rude and unhelpful. A few times I asked an older gentleman for help and he quickly responded in a rude matter, saying I can't help you. He wouldn't even try to ask a colleague or attempt to help me. I finally found a different librarian and they had to remedy the situation and teach their colleague the process. On the other hand, there are many librarians who are very friendly and helpful, but it doesn't go for everyone. In addition, they are very quick to accuse you of damaging books. The smallest tear or stain requires you to pay a large fine to replace the book. There is something called wear and tear that happens when books are lent out to people and that's the reality of a library. Overall, I am happy with the library and appreciate the resources.

They never smile back and stare at you in a very uncomfortable way as you're entering the library. Problem is the WiFi is not reliable. the best place to access their WiFi is downstairs (away from the nice view and the quiet study area). And sometimes, it doesn't work so well down there either. Also, you can't get a library card if you live out of town. Maybe that's a standard for libraries, I can't say. But you can't access their computers without a library card. In short, it's a very nice library to get some quiet time to read and get work done. But you're going to need to use your own hotspot access if you want to read books on your Kindle or IPad. I sincerely hope they fix this and join everyone in the 21st century. Until then, the New York Sports Club in the same shopping center has WiFi... but it's not quiet there in the least. :-/

The children's reading section sometimes has noisy little kids and the parents don't discipline them enough. It's not fair for other people who are reading and it's not fair for the librarians who are trying to work. The parking lot is small because it is hard to find a spot. The library in my area is better and more parking spaces.

I wish I could upload a recording of how loud and OBNOXIOUS they are so that those of you who see this could understand how insanely loud these Public Library working HAGS are! So again, if you actually need a quiet space to get some legitimate reading or studying done DO NOT COME TO TENAFLY PUBLIC LIBRARY! especially if you are a person of color because I am absolutely positive that if I was Caucasian that the response to me respectfully asking them to lower their voices so that I may study for an exam IN PEACE would have been received very differently. Wonderful kids area downstairs. Lots of different activities with plenty of space for young…read morechildren. My toddler constantly asks to go back to the "big library." Fine by me.
