It was a burger place. Ordered three burgers (one chicken). I would consider these to be relatively small (similar to most fast food places) and the taste really wasn't fresh. Hate to leave relatively negative reviews especially during the current state of affairs for the restaurant businesses but I don't see our family returning to this location. The food was sub-par. I honestly do not understand where the 3-star reviews are coming from. I went to Jake's with my girlfriend a few days ago to see if perhaps Yelp wasn't fully accurate and I'm glad we did. We settled on the classic burger, fries, and a drink to share. The guy behind the counter cooking our food was really friendly, explained what the gold sauce was, and even checked on us after we got through part of our meal. Quality service. That burger though... it was insane. Instantly reminded me of Shake Shack. Super tender meat, nice fresh buns, good ingredients. It just blended together so nicely. My lady caught me eyeballing the rest of hers after I finished my half! Seriously you should go try a burger. This is everything a hamburger should be. It is big, juicy and topped however you like. I cannot stress how generous the portion is. the cheese tots with bacon are fantastic as well. I came into this establishment on a Sunday afternoon, so when I entered there really wasn't much of line and I was happy because it gave me sometime to look over the menu because no one was behind me when it was time to order. after about 5 minutes I was ready. So my initial request to the cashier was to ring me up for their Double Bacon Burger (I mean who doesn't like a two patty hamburger with bacon). He then suggested that I should get their Wayback Dog because it's his favorite item and he would hook mine up. So I ended up changing my order. When my meal arrived everything looked delicious and was nice and hot. I initially started with the chilli cheese fries and although they got to be a bit messy I felt they were delicious. Now as to the verdict for the Wayback dog....I was 100℅ satisfied. I mean don't get me wrong, it isn't the greatest hotdog ever but it's a pretty solid tasting dog. Today was my first time trying Wayback Burgers. I had a single cheeseburger make your own, with the fries, were cooked fresh. The onion rings ( although I didn't get them) they looked good as I saw them prepared for someone else. I think the burger is better than Wendy's. I will definitely be back. The only strike I would suggest for this place is to work on their ventilation as your clothes will come out smelling like fried smoke. I know that there are quite a few options for burger places these days and I never shy away from giving each one a proper try. And boy am I happy I stopped in at Wayback Burger! The burger was decent sized and not overly greasy like other burger joints. The French fries were excellent, especially for those like me who like all of my fries to be crispy. And make sure you try the banana-strawberry milkshake. Yum! The service was great! I tend to ask a lot of questions when I'm trying something new and the cashier was very knowledgeable and gave me great advise. I would definitely go again and recommend to anyone in the area. While down in VA picking up a pinball machine, I found this place. It was either this or Panera, but since I can eat Panera whenever I want Jake's won. Wayback Burgers is A-OK and I would happily go back here to eat again. My son and I went here to get a quick dinner before taking him to an event at his school. This is an order at the counter and have a seat type of place, then they bring the food out to you. Typical burgers, fries, milkshakes type of menu. Service was friendly but slow. They weren't busy. Nobody was in line ahead of us and there were only two tables occupied, but it seemed like we waited an unusually long time for our burgers and ended up being late for the school event. First time to Jakes and it will be the last. Service: Unorganized and slow. Maybe its just because they are new, but I doubt it. You can spend the same money at Red Robin around the corner and have a better experience. Even more you can head to five guys for a few dollars less. Everything comes with cheese by default, so if you are lactose intolerant, you can say no cheese, but you will pay for it anyway. Paid $35 for 2 kids meals and 2 burgers. Portions are just short of average. If you have an appetite this is not the place for you. Environment: Very clean. My main gripe with this place was how slow my meal came out. There were 2 people in line in front of me and another already waiting. All of the meals took about 10-15 minutes. I got a cheeseburger with lettuce/tomato/mayo. Burger patties are smaller than Burger 21, Burger Fi, Red Robin, and Fuddruckers. The condiments were the freshest I've found around here. The bun was nice and toasted, but nothing can beat a Fuddruckers bun. Excellent burger as a whole. Probably my favorite in the area. Fries were nothing to write home about. All of the above places have better fries. I'll give the onion rings a try next time. There's probably seating for about 30 people. I'd imagine it could get extremely crowded during lunch hours. The place was immaculate, including the men's bathroom. We'll see if they can keep it up. My cheeseburger, fries, and drink came out to 10.05 after tax. About middle of the road. I'm not sure how well they will do with Burger 21 and Red Robin within 500 yards on either side of them though. Overall, 3 stars. I have gone to Jake's three times now and the place seemed consistent. The place is clean, food was very good and the wait was reasonable. I guess they are slighly pricey, but the french fries are so good that, I guess, it is worth paying an extra buck or two. Last time I went there with my family, the manager was very involved with the clients. He was asking if everything was to our liking and was giving away free samples of their featured shake. I highly recommend the veggie burger! It was delicious and can be customized to however you want it! I had mine made with an upside down siracha bun that was toasted and buttery. The sauces are what make the burger even better and you can add as many as you like! I love the honey mustard and chipotle mayo. We also had the siracha fries, which were tasty! And the milkshake was amazing!! I mixed oreo with mocha, which is a great combo if you like cookies and chocolate. The staff was friendly and great. My mom and I were told it would be a 28 min wait for food but we only wanted cheese fries. She said it wouldn't be that long and we still waited over 30 min just for cheese fries. The fries were soggy and greasy. It had one handful of regular shredded cheese that they left in the oven for 30 seconds and then forgot about them for 10 minutes. The fries were not seasoned at all not even with salt. We wanted something quick while we shopped at Walmart and didn't even get to shop because we waited so long for cheese fries. For what it is, Wayback Burgers is wonderful! Definitely a nice little burger place with delicious burgers! I recommend the Cheeeesy Burger, that grilled, buttered bun is incredible. The milkshakes are also delicious, and so is their new Philly Cheesesteak. I'm not a huge fan of the fries, but they're decent. And the wait can be a bit long if you're ordering to-go, or they're crowded. If you order to-go, do it online so your food is ready when you get there. The customer service was the worst customer service I've ever received. I've never been treated so rudely by an employee of a business as I experienced today. When I walked in there was no greeting or "what can I get for you today", after an awkward silence I said, I'll take the classic.
