Crislyn has been waxing me for over 2 years now. She is AMAZING! I have never had a better experience than at Waxlab. She and her staff have always been welcoming and kind. When booking my service, the receptionist asked if I wanted numbing cream prior to getting waxed. She expressed this to me as if this would be a complimentary service, so I said yes. Little did I know that they'd end up charging me $25 for a one ounce bottle of cream that retails for much less. They did not make any efforts to fix this issue and the owner did not to speak to me directly and kept communicating through her receptionist. The receptionist did not tell me that the owner would not remove the charge prior to my wax, and this came as a surprise when I was paying. I never leave reviews for even a less than mediocre service but I was so surprised that they would compromise their customer service to salvage a few bucks. Disappointed. read more

Ok, so I HAVE to update my review to 5 stars because they definitely deserved it. Shortly after my original review, Crislyn, the owner, called me to apologize for the service and offered a free touch up. She managed to fit me in her schedule right before my vacation. I met her for my appointment a few days ago, and she was able to get me in and out of the salon in less than 15 minutes. I noticed she was quick, and thorough with everything. There was little to no pain during the waxing. She's a real sweetheart and I appreciate that she went as far as to reach out to me twice, when I wasn't able to take her call the first time she contacted me. I'm looking forward to my next appointment with her! I just may end up buying a waxing package :) read more

As a licensed cosmetologist, I have very high standards since I know the requirements they are supposed to follow. The girl I got was nice. I was extremely nervous, since this was my first Brazilian since doing it myself at home for years. She was fabulous at telling me it would hurt a bit, but not as bad as "the movies make it out to be." All-in-all, not the worst experience for brazilian, even though she left hairs behind that I had to pluck once I got home. So why 1 star? Well, I also got my brows and underarms done... Long story short, I used to over-pluck my eyebrows, making the space between them way too wide. I have been growing out this part on both sides for over 6 months now. After 6 long months of growing them out, plucking to the right shape, and penciling in where needed, my brows were finally where I wanted them to be (I was getting compliments daily by strangers who liked my brows.) I was ready to just clean up around the edges to get it all pretty for my birthday over the weekend. I had guidelines set, told the girl to just clean up the edges, and even told her that I was growing them out and they just needed the perimeter done. That I loved the current shape and how they were growing. She kept plucking and plucking, and I trusted her. I was wrong in doing so. SHE MESSED ME UP. My brows are uneven, and she waxed the area I took 6 months to grow out. I am a hairstylist! My image is VERY important in my industry. Now the arch is uneven and my right eyebrows starts considerably farther over than my left. My eyebrows have not looked this bad since middle school. Coworkers noticed and asked why they were so uneven all of the sudden! Now every picture of my 25th birthday will have the crooked reminder that I chose the WRONG place to get my brows waxed. Also, she left over 15 long hairs on my left underarm, but not my right. AND it took her over an hour and a half to do just the 3 areas...Should not have taken that long, especially for the quality of work. I am so pissed. Because it took her so long, I had to rush out to go to work and did not realize just how bad it was until I got home this evening. Will not be back. read more

I've been seeing Crislyn for two years. She's the ABSOLUTE best. I recently moved to NYC and got my first Brazilian here and it made me realize how good her and her staff were. Her place is clean, her staff is always respectful and kind. I recommend her to all my friends and family. She makes a Brazilian experience into a great one. It's never painful, her pulls are quick, and she's very thorough never leaving a strand of hair behind. I would recommend that you pre-book your appointments for an additional 10% off, go every month, and do not shave in between. Okay so since I posted my previous review about Wax Lab, I received a phone call from the manager/owner and she highly apologized about my experience and offered to do my next Brazilian herself as well as it was free of charge. Today was that appointment and I will say it was an amazing experience. She kept talking to me through out the whole thing and it kept me relaxed. And she did an amazing job!! I will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. She completely changed my expectations when it comes to a Brazilian wax. I came in for a Brazilian wax and eyebrow wax, both of which were perfect. It was my first Brazilian (all I've ever waxed before were my eyebrows), and I was extremely anxious. I've heard some horror stories and looked up quite a few blogs about what to expect (which weren't exactly comforting). I researched different waxing studios and salons online, and WaxLab had the best reviews and also offered the numbing cream (which was SO worth it!). The prices were good and the photos online looked clean, stylish, and professional, so I booked a session. When I arrived the girl at the front desk was friendly, welcoming, and helpful . The waxologists wear navy scrubs, which feels very clean and professional. The atmosphere feels like a bright, modern, stylish doctor's office (in terms of cleanliness), which was very comforting. I opted for the numbing cream, so the girl took me back and instructed me on how to apply and what to expect. You have to wait 30min for the cream to work, so I waited in the back on a couch they had. There was ice water and snacks available as well, a thoughtful touch. (PS: The numbing cream really does work. Definitely get it if it's your first time!) When it was time for my appointment, Nicole came to get me and bring me to a room. She asked if I had done waxing before, and I told her only eyebrows. "You'll do great!" She was so comforting and easy-going that I felt immediately at ease. I thought I would feel awkward or uncomfortable, you know, but not at all! She told me exactly what to expect and what she was going to do before getting started. During waxing we talked the whole time, and she was hilarious! I totally forgot I was getting waxed. She was quick and made sure to press on the skin after removing to ease the pain. (Getting my eyebrows done at a nail salon hurt way more than this Brazilian!) They use the hard wax (which I've never had before), and I loved it. The temp was warm, but not too hot. It hardened quickly, and it wasn't sticky at all. It seemed to remove everything without any horrific pain (thanks, I think in part, to the numbing cream). A few hours later I could feel a bit of soreness, but nothing like I was expecting. If you're hesitant or new to waxing, definitely try WaxLab! Ask for the numbing cream and ask for Nicole--you won't regret it! She made it so easy and comfortable! Strangely enough, this was such a wonderful experience. Never thought I'd be able to say that about the infamous Brazilian. (Oh, and she did a perfect job on my eyebrows! I went to a nail salon last time, and it was awful. So bad. When I looked in the mirror after Nicole finished, however, I was so impressed. Perfect shape and perfect size. It was not perfunctory either, it was very sincere and caring. She offered to rectify the issue of missed spots along with my next wax free of charge. Chrislyn did my eyebrows and they look amazing!! The best they've been in years. I've been going to different places since I moved to jax and they looked a little wonky upon arriving to wax lab but chrislyn knew exactly what to do and wow! They're literally perfect!! She used hard wax which was a first for me. I never would've thought getting my eyebrows waxed could be so relaxing, seriously!! I specifically went to the wax lab because they use hard wax. I called about it and asked again once I was there. When I got into the room, the technician gave me a blank stare when I asked her about using hard wax. She wasn't experienced in hard wax for brows. She didn't know the difference between hard and soft wax. Hard wax is better for sensitive skin. The technician didn't give me much confidence in her skills at all and she made my brows uneven. The lobby is nice but the rooms are nothing to write about. They didn't even have a clean mirror or a magnifying mirror for the technician to use. I don't think I will return for brow service. read more

I've just moved to the area and was in the market to replace my beloved Angela at Sweet Peach Waxing (in Atlanta). I chose Waxlab based on the reviews here. I went in for a brazilian and brow waxing. There is plenty of free lot parking - which, coming from Atl, is a nice perk. The decor is nice and clean, a bit stark and not necessarily welcoming. The complimentary numbing cream is a nice touch for first-time visitors. As far as the brazilian goes, I was pleased with the service. Until I went to take a shower later that night and discovered that there was wax still left on my body. A shower with soapy water took care of it, but I was very disappointed that I was allowed to leave in that condition. My brow wax took place afterward and, honestly, it did not seem that my tech paid as much attention during the brow wax as during the bikini portion (and, considering I left with wax still on my body that's saying something). When I got home and had time to inspect them, they are short on the ends and the shape I asked to be maintained has been altered. Maybe I was spoiled by an incredibly attentive aesthetician in Atlanta, but the prices at waxlab are more than at sweet peach, so I expected at least comparable service. Waxlab does have some nice incentives to return. I pre-paid for brow waxes to get the discount, and I'll go back for the one I have booked because I pre-paid. But I guess I'll have to be much more specific and micro-manage-y to make sure that my brows are done well. I don't know that I'll return for another bikini there, but if you book & come in within 6 weeks after a service they offer a discount. read more

I think the young lady who serviced me was fairly new in the field, she advised me it was 1 year, im almost 90% sure its been last than that. The correct thing to ask is, who was here first. Don't just assume and then make me wait an additional 15 minutes to receive services. The customer service here was great but I got a Brazilian done yesterday that was not good.. when I sat up I immediately noticed a lot of hair that was missed. I usually can find a few strands once I get home but this was a lot of hair in patches . Not only on the sides but the top too. I didn't want to say anything because I purchased it off Groupon with a coupon (as I've done with other salons) but I was definitely disappointed. (Enough not to leave a tip, which says a lot for me) If I had paid full price I would have definitely said something. I also felt irritation after the fact and was extremely sensitive to the touch which was also a first. Different wax I guess. My vag just feels like I did a good shave , not the smooth feeling I'm use to after a full wax. Even my boyfriend noticed . I think that I'm going to stick with Sleek or Brazil's. My friend and I went together and she also stated that she has a lot of irritation and left over hairs.. so much so that she wants to shave it.. so yeah, not going back. read more

I filled out a quick contact info & consent form, used the restroom, waited for maybe 30 seconds and was already being called back. I had an appointment with Stephanie for a Brazilian. I haven't had many waxing experiences, but this one was great. She was quick but SUPER thorough and really nice- I never felt uncomfortable. I would say I have a high pain tolerance for this kind of stuff, but I honestly don't think it hurt much at all regardless of that. Maybe a quick sting here and there, but it's gone in seconds. I have been getting my Brazilian and eye brow waxing here for about a year now. I LOVE this establishment. It's very clean and the staff is super friendly. I love that unlike my previous wax place, Waxlab offers appointments and I especially love that they use hard wax. I have NEVER had to use the numbing cream. You don't have to ever go back in 10-14 days for a touch up. I see Crislyn and on top of being the sweetest person, she makes your experience so comfortable. I recommend Waxlab to everyone. They also offer a referral program, so that's a nice way to help support their business and save money at the same time. Another reason I love them is the products they offer. I am adding my review from Google here so more people know to STAY AWAY. Had my very thick and full eyebrows MASSACRED here when all I asked them was clean them up and more arch definition. I have had beautifully shaped hollywood brows before in my life, I know it's possible. What I got at this waxing butcher shop- literally geometric triangle shaped eyebrows. What?! I wanted to cry when the tech first handed me the mirror. I asked the tech to please fix them and make them more rounded, you know, like a normal eyebrow. What I ended up with are literally two half circle arches for eyebrows. They look HORRIBLE- so much for having my engagement pictures taken this weekend. I look like an idiot. The tech needs to be fired or completely retrained. Not to mention the wax was SO hot I'm surprised I don't have blisters, although there are definitely some burns. Avoid this place at ALL costs. You can ruin your own eyebrows and burn your face for free at home. read more
