Same day appointment was awesome for me! I rarely take time to get my eyebrows done and this was my first threading so I didn't know what to expect. I was greeted immediately and taken when the next chair was available. The salon is clean and the threading is done in salon chairs. I would recommend calling so you don't have to wait, I skipped a walk in because I called ahead. The threading was not painful for me at all, I pluck so it was similar. I loved the shape of my eyebrows when she finished and she left them full but under control! New to the area and realized I needed to find a place to get my brows done. I read through these reviews and decided to walk-in. On the day I visited, there was only one person being serviced. The activity at the front desk area was a bit chaotic. As I waited, it was confusing whether I was being spoken to or they were on the phone. The workers are timid so it was difficult to gauge if they were telling me to wait or sit at the station. When I sat in a station, I communicated as best I could what I wanted with pictures I had of myself. The manager went back and forth to provide additional instruction to the young woman doing my brows. I guess she overheard me emphasizing to do better arches. The manager came over again to "translate" and tell her worker what to do. For the arches, they switched from the waxing to threading for "accuracy". At this point the worker did not seem as confident and that is when she messed up big. The manager literally pushed her worker out the way to finish with my brows. When done, I looked in the handheld mirror and tried to tell her that the other worker took off a patch of hair but she kept interrupting and repeating that it was good. Why ask if I was okay with work if you will not pause to truly listen? This manager is very assertive and very frenzied in her communication. It creates a chaotic atmosphere. I had to accept that I was "dismissed". Just trying to pay was "confusing" while they tell you about an app to download, in the midst of processing payment, answering the phone, and giving instructions to workers. Despite that first visit experience, knowing they messed up my right brow, I returned a few weeks later. I had a hard time accepting that these great reviews led me astray so I needed to know if it was a fluke. It was not. I wish this business the best. Glad everyone else had a five star experience. Couple of things to note: I'm from San Francisco and went religiously to my salon there. I've only been to one other location in Jacksonville for this service (Brazils) so I'm using both experiences to give fair reviews. I'm no novice to waxing and came here by recommendation. So here goes. Location: Super easy to find. In that plaza with Panera Bread so that's great. I've noticed smaller places have been hard for me to find and even though they're small, the business stands out. Front desk staff: Polite. I was greeted immediately when I walked in and they were able to see me though I was fifteen minutes early, not a problem for me there! Esthetician & Service: I wish I'd gotten her name. She didn't introduce herself when she came in which was different for me from what I'm used to. She also didn't talk much and when she did, I'm not certain she understood my responses well so we were more silent than anything. She was very polite and respectful though. I believe she was treating me like she would have liked to have been treated. So, back to the service itself Their wax is HOT. The woman performing my service had to blow on the wax to test it on herself and blew on me to cool it down as she was laying it down. That was a first for me, having my crotch blown by another woman . While they don't double dip, she did place the stick in her mouth as she removed the wax strip and then proceeded to use that other end of the stick to dip into the wax. I know they also thread there and that's something they do, put the thread in their mouths but for waxing it just doesn't look good but she did realize and threw it out. The service was standard and I appreciate that she really tried to remove any smaller or ingrown hairs to leave me as clean as she could. Really, that was the most dedication I'd ever experienced to removing those annoying hairs, and she was pretty successful. It was just weird that the wax was so hot that she needed to blow on it/me to cool it down. A few things I'd like to comment on outside of the service. The "rooms" are not necessarily private. No one can see you, sure, but it's just walls set up so you can hear what's going on and the women inside can talk amongst one another. It's not a big deal but it was the first time I'd seen that in a place that provides such private services for people. The rooms and tools are clean though. When I called to schedule the appointment I was asked if I was aware of the pricing (fair question) and was told that the first time is $38 and thereafter is at a discount so that's cool for people returning. But on Yelp they have a check-in offer for $25 for your first Brazilian there. I wanted to see if they'd offer it (as most places usually do when it's your first time) but they didn't. That's okay because $38 is still a cost-friendly wax I was just curious to see how they'd handle it & I was happy to pay anything less than San Francisco prices anyway (there is $65+tip). Overall, I liked the clean wax feel, she took her time to make sure that I was happy with it before she left it was just odd to have been blown on, have witnessed her put the stick in her mouth and I would've liked a bit more privacy (ref. walls vs rooms) and those few things may outweigh the appreciation I had for the cleanliness so I'm not sure that I'd be back. read more

I recently got waxed and had a very good experience. I felt very comfortable and the owner is super sweet! Today I got my lashes lifted and tinted! I am obsessed! I have tried some local lash places and my lashes were okay.... But my lashes today look so good! She is very meticulous and takes her time! My lashes look so good and natural! Honestly, it was ok. Maybe I was expecting too much due to having read all the good reviews. Maybe I came on a bad day. I didn't have a bad experience but it wasn't great or over the top/amazing either. I usually go to Brazil's for all of my waxing and decided to try this place because it was much more conveniently located to me, the reviews, and they had a promotion going on. I went in for an underarm wax and eyebrow threading to see how it went and determine if I would go back for a Brazilian or not. So, no, I will not be going back for a Brazilian there. I guess that I'm spoiled at Brazil's. The wax they use is cirepil wax which sticks to the hair and not the skin which is actually less painful. However, I don't feel that the hair was pulled completely from the root like when I normally get waxed. Surely enough, I got home and I can see little black dots of hair underneath the top layer of my underarm skin. The two ladies working there seemed rushed. Neither of them took their time with any of their clients including myself. The facility was clean, but the waxing rooms were a bit plain and small/uncomfortable. (I'm not a big girl either) There was no mirror in the room except for a small hand mirror the technician handed me once done. .... Give it a try but not at full price! They are cheaper but for a reason. I'll continue to go to my regular place but I'm happy I tried this one and now I know! read more

I'm brand new to eyebrow threading, and my first time at Sleek was wonderful. The threading only took two minutes. The pain was minimal--much less than waxing. After such a wonderful experience at Sleek, I now consider myself a convert from waxing. The woman who threaded my brows said it should last about three weeks, but as I go more regularly, it'll last longer (like a wax). It costs $10 for threading. I found a great deal on Groupon.
