There are a few options to do such as making a candle, garden, and painting. They also have a to-go slime kit.  We were leaving Tahoe that day so we wanted to make something that we could bring home the same day. The kids each made a garden and a candle. For the garden, we chose a pot which varies in price. We then got to choose a real or fake plant. To plant, small rocks went in first for drainage and then we filled it with dirt. Now comes the fun part to decorate with the add ons. There were different types and color rocks, moss, and tiny figurines. My kiddo loved getting his creativity on with all the options.  For the candle, we chose a container which varies in price also. We then got to choose the colored wax to break it apart. It was actually easier to break it with the hands then cut it up. Once we were done with that part, we got to choose a scent, then a wick was added, and clear gloss was poured over to seal it.  It was a cute and fun experience. The best part is that all supplies are provided, and no cleaning is needed.

My mail box is…read morenext door to them, you see, so I've been admiring the projects in the window like a shy voyeur. My super-fun SIL and I love to get crafty together, so by sheer luck (or fate, if you will) I happened upon a Super Sunday promo and booked us both for a belated Galentine's night out! First, let me say that boss lady Sydney is absolutely the life of the party! She graciously accommodated a customization request for SIL and both our projects came out great! The workshops are quick, unique, and extra fun thanks to sassy Sydney! If you've been there, done that to the canvas paint & sip places, switch it up and come get hammered at Hammer & Stain!

I was terrified the whole time that my piece would turn out awful! But the staff walks you through it and makes sure that you're doing everything correctly. I liked seeing how differently everyone's piece turned out. Thats what set it apart from other activities like a paint and sip. You're able to personalize it, so no one walks out with the same picture. You also can use power tools! What's more fun than that!? The staff was so friendly even when our group got a little rowdy. They helped me figure out color schemes and even brought out the glitter! Definitely want to go again.

If my wife wasn't with me I would have bought at least a half dozen goofy inexpensive toys and novelties. I agree with the review from Nancy V. She says that the place is a "blast from the past". Yep!

*READ*... I've spent a lot of money at Truckee Variety Co…read more because I genuinely wanted to support a local business, even though everything is pretty overpriced. Just the day before this happened, my best friend and I spent over $100 there. The reason I wanted to look at the giant cheese squishy was because I'd already bought the mini version before, and it honestly didn't live up to how it was advertised. It wasn't what I expected at all, and since the store doesn't allow returns, I was stuck with something I regretted buying. I didn't want to make the same mistake again. Since there weren't any display samples, we carefully opened the giant one just to see what it was actually like. We weren't trying to steal it or damage it--we were planning to put it back and were deciding whether it was worth buying. Instead, the owner immediately started yelling at us and made us feel like we were about to get kicked out. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. If you're charging premium prices and don't allow returns, customers should at least be able to see what they're buying before spending their money. I used to enjoy shopping here, but after this experience, I'm honestly not sure I'll be spending my money here again. AND YES, what I did was wrong but I apologized and walked out...
