The employee responded with a rude "No." I completely understand not wanting customers to handle display items, but at most toy stores, display toys are there for children to interact with. My daughter was polite and simply asked. A kind explanation would have gone a long way. The bigger issue was the customer service afterward. The slime my friend purchased wasn't really slime--it had the consistency of glue and immediately got all over my kids' hands. She politely let the owner know, not asking for a refund or anything, just so she was aware there might be an issue with the product. Instead of apologizing or thanking her for the feedback, the owner rolled her eyes and dismissed her. We don't expect perfection, but we do expect kindness and basic customer service--especially from a business we've intentionally supported for years. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling unwelcome, and we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

I am extremely picky regarding who works on my jewelry and especially my engagement ring which is 4ct square cushion with emerald baguettes and is obviously of great sentiment to me. Not to mention, the jewelry for sale is absolutely gorgeous - I was drooling over several pieces and was able to drop many hints to my husband for Valentines Day ;). We wandered in on a whim only to find a blue-green tourmaline ring that felt like it was meant to be. It stacked perfectly with my wedding band, and reminded my hubby of a family heirloom. By the time we finished dinner nearby, Mike had it sized and ready, and that's service you don't just find anywhere. He and Susan are funny, warm and so genuine. The shop has that rare, old-school craftsmanship and service that never goes out of style.

We were warmly greeted by one of the owners, Lisa, who quickly identified our connection to the race based on what we were wearing as we entered. She shared he had family members who had completed the race as well. She was so friendly and kind. Now to the gallery part. The entire place was decked out in Tahoe related art from photography to lacquered Tahoe-related wooden pieces, "Tahoe Fluid Art" by Megan Smith. Lisa was so excited to take us through a tour of everything she had on display. It seemed just as exciting for her to share the work as it was for us to see everything for the first time. Every piece unique and so beautiful. In my lifetime, I've wandered into countless galleries while being a visitor in town but this was the first time I absolutely could not leave without taking something home. Both my brother and I left with a Tahoe Fluid Art piece. For him, a mountain-shaped piece with gorgeous flecks of copper and fool's gold; for myself, a beautifully blue Lake Tahoe piece. These weren't exactly "bargains" (it's not a thrift store), but given how unique the pieces are and that they were created by a husband and wife team with completely different skills, the purchases were well worth the value and heart put into them. There's something to be said about "good" art. We all have our own taste, but when pieces make you feel and help you connect, it's truly something special. We found that here and recommend anyone who is in the area to stop on in for a look. Be prepared to take something home. Oh, they also ship artwork globally so don't hestitate to request that if you are unable to handcarry the artwork home! Trust me, it's so worth it!

This is a family owned/ran business and they take very good care of the courses! It's immaculate truly, we noticed the gentlemen hand painting touch-up's to the course. The castle option was fun for the whole family, would opt for this one again. I recommend a hat/sunscreen if it's summer weather, there is some shade during the course from the trees though. There's a lot of fun elements to the course, like the spider that lowers to try to block your shot. After the course we deposited our golf balls in the Last Hole slot machine (see picture) I thought that was a fun way to end the course (chance to win a free game). We then played some pinball and the kiddos enjoyed spending quarters in the toy capsule machines. They have an ATM and also a cash changer if you need quarters. Beautiful mini golf course, we had lots of fun, yes recommend and will be back!

I informed her that I was told that these were $45 where she says that she has to 'look' them up. No sorry's or anything - just begins checking me out at the $45 price after she 'looked' them up. This place seems really magical when you walk in.....but be a bit wary.

Truckee is a friendly place. The vendors have lots of local crafts and wares. There's a live music stage by the railroad station. The band cranks out the good music, usually classic rock, that sets the mood perfectly. This event is popular and crowded so be aware that the traffic snarl can be a pain in the butt. You might have to park at least six streets away. For a free, something to do in Truckee this event gets a happy thumbs up.

One drawback: not a ton of shade and that Truckee sun can get HAWT and strong even at 5/6 at night. A win and a great taste of small town life.
