We immediately called to see if we could reschedule as we know we would be back. They said we could come another day. Yay! We decided to go back when there wasn't a blizzard. Lol. We also upgraded our experience from smores & fireplace outdoors, to a YURT! Best decision ever & it was our BEST winery experience ever! It was just perfect & magical! The yurt had 2 heaters, but we quickly turned one off. It wAs equipped with blankets & pillows! It was so cozy feeling. Our table was so nicely decorated, like out of a magazine! The experience came with a charcuterie board and 5 wine tastings. Everything was so good! Not a fan of White wine, but it's something about high elevation wineries...makes white taste yummy! Ambiance was cozy, without the cold snow! We absolutely loved everything about it & we are super happy we booked it! This is a must to visit in Truckee!

I tried hers and the dressing had a touch more anchovy than I prefer, but that's why I don't order Caesar salads. My chicken sandwich came with a generous heap of fries, lightly spiced, and I enjoyed the cabbage and the fact that the bun held up to the contents well. There is a decent wine selection as well as a full bar and signature cocktails, for those who want to imbibe. I went with a cup of Earl Grey, since I'd driven up from the Bay Area and needed a drop of caffeine to stay alert. We shared their carrot cake for dessert and it hit its mark. Not overly sweet, a hint of cream cheese in the frosting. Lee's service was friendly, but not intrusive. We were well taken care of. This is a family owned/ran business and they take very good care of the courses! It's immaculate truly, we noticed the gentlemen hand painting touch-up's to the course. The castle option was fun for the whole family, would opt for this one again. I recommend a hat/sunscreen if it's summer weather, there is some shade during the course from the trees though. There's a lot of fun elements to the course, like the spider that lowers to try to block your shot. After the course we deposited our golf balls in the Last Hole slot machine (see picture) I thought that was a fun way to end the course (chance to win a free game). We then played some pinball and the kiddos enjoyed spending quarters in the toy capsule machines. They have an ATM and also a cash changer if you need quarters. This year's Taste was a bit chillier than previous ones, go figure with our weather this year. The check in tent is in the lot next to the Jerky Company. Now you can start at one end of town and walk thru. This year there were some outstanding businesses that truly want to show off their food skills. Top two are Cafe Del Rio and the Cider Factory. Both have always created the best and plentiful offerings. Delta this year took the time to do a little research and made a apple cobbler with a johnnycake topping. The chef here was fun to talk to and her pride showed. Red's had a nice selection of small deli sandwiches. I hate to refer to the next group as disappointments, but after starting out with hits........ Virginia City Jerky Company, Mellow Fellow, And Ponderosa handed very small nibbles of very ordinary bites. Small would be fine but impress me a little. There were 5 cocktail stops. Seventeen places in all. Surprised that VC Brewery was on the list but closed. I also missed the Roasting House not participating this year. The Christmas Store was cute- Mrs Claus handed out cookies and sparkling sangria. All and all a great way to spend the day walking VC for $20

The single jack drilling competition was amazing to watch! Those folks are TOUGH! It's hard to have a bad time in VC, and we were there with friends celebration their anniversary (married at Mackay Mansion in '16) but I could help but notice the event just seemed to lack quality bites, especially with that much whiskey! Mellow Fellow said they "ran out" by noon and seemed to be ignoring patrons...surely they would have been advised on how many people were expected to participate. The Silver Queen literally had a 1" piece of hot dog with ketchup. Meh. Cheers to the Cider Factory, who's roasted green chili and chicken bisque and chicken bacon sliders saved the day! The Palace had nice chili, Silver Spoon featured grandma's recipe sauce with meatballs, and the Delta made a lovely spiced apple cornbread dessert. I can see from past year's maps that business participation seemed less this year, but we left hungry. I'm glad we tried this event, and we still love VC, maybe it'll rebound in years to come.

When we went back to retrieve them, the husband became extremely aggressive and threatening. He said that if we didn't leave, he would put us in handcuffs. The wife offered to get our gloves for us, so we waited outside as instructed. While we were waiting, the husband continued to harass us--calling us names like "fuckers" and even threatening to run us over with a snow machine. This behavior was completely unacceptable, hostile, and unprofessional. A simple misunderstanding turned into a very uncomfortable and unsafe situation. No one should be spoken to or threatened this way. I would not recommend this place based on how we were treated. Wish I can leave a negative 5 review.
