My wife visited the women's clothing shop on the ground floor next to the entrance. She was in and out of there in 5 minutes. A new personal speed record for her. I used the difficult to find restroom on the 2nd floor. It was clean enough. Jake's on the Lake restaurant must be the only reason that this "mall" still exists.

The place has a lot of character and rustic-ness going for it. There is a restaurant, a coffee/chocolate shop, a book store, a wine shop, clothing and shoe store, a home decor, furniture store, a game store - and more. While I was here, I perused the book store and Hemmings & Jarrett where I purchased and shipped home a Christmas decoration. My daughter was polite and simply asked. A kind explanation would have gone a long way. The bigger issue was the customer service afterward. The slime my friend purchased wasn't really slime--it had the consistency of glue and immediately got all over my kids' hands. She politely let the owner know, not asking for a refund or anything, just so she was aware there might be an issue with the product. Instead of apologizing or thanking her for the feedback, the owner rolled her eyes and dismissed her. We don't expect perfection, but we do expect kindness and basic customer service--especially from a business we've intentionally supported for years. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling unwelcome, and we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

I was having trouble locating and sizing new liners for these precious boots of mine and a place in Truckee recommended that I talk to Lou at Alpenglow because he really knows how to fit telemark boots. Well, I hustled on over, met Lou and within no time he fit me with a new set of Intuition liners for about 1/4 of what I would have to pay for new boots. Thanks Lou and thank you Alpenglow; I'll be sure to stop in for my gear needs in the future.

There are a few options to do such as making a candle, garden, and painting. They also have a to-go slime kit.  We were leaving Tahoe that day so we wanted to make something that we could bring home the same day. The kids each made a garden and a candle. For the garden, we chose a pot which varies in price. We then got to choose a real or fake plant. To plant, small rocks went in first for drainage and then we filled it with dirt. Now comes the fun part to decorate with the add ons. There were different types and color rocks, moss, and tiny figurines. My kiddo loved getting his creativity on with all the options.  For the candle, we chose a container which varies in price also. We then got to choose the colored wax to break it apart. It was actually easier to break it with the hands then cut it up. Once we were done with that part, we got to choose a scent, then a wick was added, and clear gloss was poured over to seal it.  It was a cute and fun experience. The best part is that all supplies are provided, and no cleaning is needed.
