    Spicy Panini with Bacon

Welcoming the new Wawa This Wawa at Fruitville just west of Lime Ave is finally open. I stopped in for some breakfast. This was actually my first visit to a Wawa in the area for food. In looking at their website I had thought to get their 2 for $5 deal but didn't see any information on that so shifting gears I ordered their Spicy Panini with Bacon using one of their ordering tablets. I didn't think to time it but it did take several minutes longer than I expected it to take. There are tables outside so once I finally got my sandwich I headed out. The sandwich was good, the predominate flavors were the jalapenos slices and cherry relish but I could pick out the egg and cheese parts too. Good visit. I've always felt Wawa can be confusing to a first time visitor. I've had some experience from the Philly area, so let me give a quick rundown if ordering in the store. First, go to where the food is prepared, there you will find tablets to enter your order. Once entered, it will print out a piece of paper with your order number and a scan bar. Take that to a cashier up in the front of the store who will scan your paper and take your money. Return to the food area with your paper and wait for your number to be called. It is actually not very complicated but if you don't know, you don't know. I didn't see anything in the store that explains what to do. As for their 2 for $5 burrito and breakfast sandwich deal, I discovered you find those premade up by the cashiers in warmers. Just grab what you want, pay for them, and go.

Okay, grand opening today 2.2.23. Was first 100 customers Was first gas customer on pump 10 For a place opening several months late they didnt seem ready. No receipts at the pump, staff couldnt answer a simple question about their rewards program. $3.45 for the cheap gas but sure that is a 1 day thing as all their other prices were $4.10 and up. The store is staffed and clean, will it last? Who knows. The prices in the store are very high, as is typical of these sort of stores. Best thing is that its nice to have a has station closer to my home and on the way downtown Sarasota that is nicer and better lit than the Shell a half mile away. All in all not impressed, but it is exactly what I expected

We came in looking forward to chips, salsa, and tacos, but unfortunately left completely disappointed. We ended up spending about $60 and threw the food away. The chips were much too thick for our liking and were very bland--we actually had to add salt ourselves at the table. The salsa was also disappointing; it was very watery with only a few pieces of chopped tomato. The chicken and steak were very bland and the barbacoa was mostly grease and fat. The photos reflect the food we ended up throwing away before leaving.

I wanted shrimp which they don't have at The Spot. My husband wanted sopes which are great at both places. He had two steak sopes. I had a shrimp huarache. We both enjoyed our food very much. The person who took our order at the front was nice. They also bring your food to you. They have inside and outside seating. We sat inside. This is inside the Sarasota Commons with Bravo grocery store, a Thai restaurant, Italian cafe, Cassava, a Venezuelan restaurant, a Puerto Rican restaurant, post office, & Hot Bins store.
