Staff was super friendly even with my toddler along running amok. Good selection of sandals, shorts and shirts for a toddler too! The woman behind the counter was great and offered my daughter a sticker and to clip the tag off of my new Rainbows so I could start breaking them in immediately. Wore a wavelengths shirt 1 time and the shirt had a hole in the sleeve that I noticed. Would not let me exchange a shirt with a receipt that was less than month old only offered a credit so I had to buy something else. I will be taking my business to other local shops in the future. read more

The dudes at Wavelengths are super nice and helpful. So my McDreamee husband forgot his sunglasses. After trying on an array of styles like the goofball he is, he settled on two pairs. One just won't work. But one pair didn't have a price tag so he wanted to know how much. One employee couldn't find an equivalent so he gave the hubby a sweet deal on them. Surfboards everywhere! I don't know much about surfing, but this seems like a super rad shop to start at. They have everything you need for sale and some items for rent. Plenty of free street parking or a small lot nearby. Wavelengths is pretty much everything you'd need in a surf shop, with one glaring exception: they don't carry women's swimsuits. Apparently it's too "cold" as the employee put it, although not too cold for the men? Whatever the case, go in looking for anything else surf related and you'll probably be a happy camper...er, surfer. We stopped in looking for those absent swimsuits for our lady friends and soon found ourselves wandering the shops (they have two locations across the parking lot from one another) looking at all the other cool goodies. I came close to buying a pair of sandals I liked and also saw plenty swimsuits, sweatshirts, surf boards and surf gear to envy. The employees were nice and for the most part helpful in answering any questions we had. I'm not a surfer, but if I were, this seems like the obvious place to go. And for those who don't surf, there is still plenty they have to offer! read more

We bought two wetsuits for our boys at the outlet. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was our first time buying wetsuits. The staff gave us practical pointers and did not steer us to the most expensive option. Good value and service. The store was clean and convenient to the Embarcadero. My experiences here have always been great. The staff and owner are all nice fellas with tons of surf experience. I don't like a ton of attention in a retail space and these guys get it; they offered their help when I came in or had a question but otherwise let me browse in peace. I've taken home a new Stoneman shortboard and a wetsuit hood, super stoked with both! Normally in a high-tourist are you can't expect much from a surf shop other than sale racks full of old t-shirts. Wavelengths isn't this at all. Their selection of surf gear is top notch. Their skate gear looks good as well. Mens apparel is all on point. I think the one weak link is the shop brand women's apparel where they could do with some softer materials and better branding; my wife has never found anything to buy for herself despite wanting to support the shop. For anyone renting surf gear my advise to set yourself up for success would be: 1. Surfing is HARD! Watching some youtube videos before you go can make your first experience much better. 2. Understand the risks. If the surf looks big and you're not an experienced swimmer wait for a calmer day. read more

I've been here many times before. Good inventory and style selection. Laid back and helpful staff. My experience yesterday was the best yet and here's why. I've been wanting a brand new skateboard setup with the condition that it's made with a shop deck. SBI finally got shop decks back in stock and had my size. I called to verify this before I arrived and they were helpful on the phone. While in store, I was helped by Nick, a young man working the board counter. I was so impressed by his knowledge and professionalism at such a young age, plus the fact that SBI gave this young man a chance to work. Props to SBI for putting him on and giving him a job. Didn't buy anything due to service. employees were young understandable however we were the only ones in the store for a bit, once there was more traffics I couldn't help but hear them greeting everyone but us, didn't really seem interested in helping out actually didn't come over to help at all. but we actually left when the crew assisted every other customer who walked in. I've found that T-shirts purchased at a surf shop are far superior in quality compared to department stores. Surf shirts are thicker and stronger. Wavelengths had many cool logo shirts. The "Three smoke stacks" of Morro Bay was pretty cool design. Other things of note were the large selection of sandals. Wife bought a pair that was made of yoga mat. It's worth a stop. read more

I stopped into Wavelengths last week when I was in Morro Bay, & they had a huge selection of all things surf & really cool gear. I got a hood for myself so I could hang in the frigid waters by Morro Rock the next day, & some t-shirts/hats/hoodies for gifts. It seemed like the prices were a little bit high (at least compared to SoCal surf shops), but that may have something to do with Morro Bay's relative isolation on the coast (gas was more expensive, too). I walked into this shop as they opened. I originally set out to go to the outlet, but it turns out they did not open until 9:30am and it was only 9am. I was immediately greeted upon entering by both employees. They asked if they could help, but I was just browsing at the time. After looking around for a bit it seemed as though they had some really good deals, but I knew I didn't have much room in my suitcase for anything else. I ended up wanting to purchase some stickers to take home for the collection. I asked for some help since all of their stickers were in a case. The guy graciously helped me. I told him which one I wanted and he insisted I take multiple and offered many others. I tried to pay him for them but he told me they were on him and to enjoy the rest of my day! This is the best surf shop in Morro Bay. AzHiAzIAm are nice, and have some interesting boards from CA shapers; TKD is not, in fact, a surf shop, but Wavelengths is the boss. Here's why: unbelievable deal on my wife's wetsuits. 5/4 backzip excel for $150. I felt guilty. It was like stealing. Massive used and new board selections. Super cool about selling me a near-mint boogie board that I rented at a big discount, even though they could've pushed to sell me a new one. The dude in the main store (not the outlet) gave me a tide table for free, even though they cost $0.25! Keep up the good work, Wavelengths, I will see you next time we go to Morro Bay! read more

We were camping nearby and needed wetsuits for the day. The wetsuits are only $10 all day. However, if you come in the late afternoon the day before, you can take the wetsuit overnight if you want to do some early AM surfing. The wetsuit rentals are in the outlet shop. The guy at the counter was pretty chill and helped get my boys outfitted for our day at the beach. There are dressing rooms in the shop to change into. While waiting, I took a quick tour around the outlet and there are some pretty good deals, especially on the sandals. I almost bought a pair to take home with me. They do take an imprint of your credit card as "security". So be sure to get that back when you return the gear. Finally, they have their own private lot, so you don't have to hassle with street parking. read more

You can always count on Wavelengths Surf Shop to have quality gear in the right size, especially for my guy who is over 6' tall. We stopped in this last week while on vacation and picked up a replacement pair of surf boots and they had exactly what we wanted and needed. Also got another logo baseball cap for my guy's collection. I think this is the only one we didn't have from all the surf shops we've visited over the years! The main supporter for the Estero Bay Surf Club - when it existed. Wavelengths even sponsored a surf shop run academic related event for students. Based on GPAs, etc. you could earn everything from wetsuits to sweatshirts to T-shirts, hundreds of stickers, hats, wallets, etc. etc. It was a great way to not only sponsor young surfers, but show the surfing community that academics was something honored and rewarded. This has always been our family's go-to place for surf merchandise, mainly because they know how to set you up for whatever level of surfer you may be. Which especially comes in handy when you don't need the top of the line, can't afford the top of the line, and don't want to be pushed left and right to buy the top of the line. The younger peeps working here for the most part are as much in love with the sport of surfing as I am and are more than willing to give helpful surf tips as well as great break points for specific times of days, etc. I took a set of surf lessons through Wavelengths long ago while I was still in high school and had the time of my life. Not only was the instructor a great person to look at, but he was great on moving forward with the lesson and getting my sisters and I to try new stances, etc. rather than solely have us just ride simple waves in. The experience became an event that I will never forget. 15 minutes or so after our session began we noticed a school of dolphins came into view. Within minutes the entire pod was close enough to swim out to, which I did on my soft top, for a better look. I was eventually near enough to touch them, refrained since I didn't want to strike fear into any of the mothers. I was in such awe of the whole experience that it didn't matter how great the surf was that day, nor that I had a couple sweet rides, but my "how was it response?" revolved solely around my amazing porpoise experience. read more
