The first time I took my truck to Howkat Auto should have been the last time. They informed me…read morethat my truck would need a new Exhaust pipe and wielding to pass inspection. I was informed that the wielding should only cost $100 to $150. And the exhaust Pipe with labor and taxes would be $90. So I was great $240 and I'll have my truck back. I was wrong, it took them a week and a half to fix this, and they had a month to get the supplies ready, my final bill was $400 after taxes, and labor, and parts. That is quite a big difference. The transmission lines also needed to be replaced so I allowed them to fix the transmission lines. I all ready gave them permission. That was supposed to be a 2 hour job. Turns out they got a defective part in. Ok. These things happen and was told they should get the part by noon tomorrow. At 1 pm the next day I called back and asked if there was any good news. I was then told by the office manager Pat, that the part did come in, but were not installed in my truck yet. I then asked what time do you think they'll be installed. I was answered with How the H*ll should I know. We have a lot of cars in here, and they all have appointments. I was upset to say the least, they knew my mom was in Hospice dying of cancer and I wanted to see my mom, and to tell me that my truck will be ready when it is ready was a mean thing to say, and also to yell at a paying customer. That is unacceptable. I will never bring any truck or car to Howkat's again. They have lost a customer, and I will forever warn people about the nasty and rude service I received at Howkats.

The new tire wasn't cheap, but I truly appreciate the approach the guys took--get one (matching) tire now, get the rest of the life out of the others, and let's look at different tires when the other three need to be replaced. I didn't feel 'sold' or otherwise taken advantage of, something I think is always top-of-mind in a tire shop (whether that's fair or not is another story). I highly recommend these guys for tire or other work and expect to visit again myself, even though there are other shops much closer to home.
