Do not give this dealership any of your credit information unless you want excessive inquiries on your credit report.
Also, be sure to get a CarFax on your own! I was given a few different stories about this. First, that CarFax was now charging dealerships $100 per car, second, that the car was a Chrysler executive car, so it wasn't available, third, they had switched to a different program, and fourth (after they saw the CarFax) that they only supply one if the customer requests one. The dealer was very evasive about supplying me one and when I paid the money and got it myself, I found information that the car had numerous repairs in its short 9,000 mile life. The sales manager was rude, telling me I must have entered the wrong VIN number. When I supplied the CarFax to him (after he said he would buy it from me) he told me that anyone in the car industry would have considered that a clean title. Sure, there were no accidents, but when a car with 9,000 miles needs new tires at 5,000 miles, a new windshield, new thermostat and new lug bolts all before it hits 10k miles, something is going on.
When they were confronted about the excessive hard inquiries on my credit, I was told that I didn't understand indirect lending, although I had multiple lenders that I work with (at a bank!), as well as 2 other car dealerships tell me that their practices were completely incorrect.
