Visited the park this weekend and it was great. They were very busy but the place was clean and staff was friendly. Food prices are a bit high for deep fried foods but people were definitely paying it. As a new Redding resident, will definitely be visiting often. read more

First of all, such a great park to have in scorching Redding. I went here as a kid but was pleasantly surprised to see they've invested so much to add new rides and attractions. My kids ages 7-15 love this park and thoroughly enjoy the many options for them. There are SO MANY lifeguards and they do a great job being helpful and kind to everyone there. I've had many interactions with the office people as well since we decided to buy season passes and get tube rentals etc. and they're always so nice and accommodating. I would say all the way around a great family experience and we're excited to making this an annual summer tradition! read more

I honestly hate leaving this review partially due to the fact that I grew up going to the water park. However, I brought my four daughters today and wow, has this place changed! My youngest, a five-year-old an excellent swimmer, is quickly eliminated from a number of the rides simply due to her height, including the white flutes- didn't matter if she had a life jacket or not, and wasn't able to go with an adult, both of which I was able to do as a kid (on these exact slides). My older two were kicked permanently out of the wave pool for "jumping the waves." Upon speaking with the teens who work here apparently you can't jump the waves, cannot dive into the waves or do anything else. The kids also don't give you a warning, or at least in my daughter's case, they were not pre warned. Basically you can stand there and that's about it! What the hell is the point of the wave pool anyhow?! Two of the girls we're told not to do any acrobatics of any sort in the pool im or under water- again, you are allowed to just breastroke or wade in the pool. What fun for a kid! (Insert sarcasm here) Lastly, we ordered some food from the snack shack. They ended up serving at the wrong items and it took at least 15 to 20 minutes to get it. In all fairness, the staff was very nice about the inconvenience. Overall, sad to see the changes here. Even though they've expanded the rides, everything must just look like a liability to the management or staff, because all of their behavior and whistling certainly indicates so. Probably won't come here again. Would rather save the $110 and hit the lake. read more

I'm giving a 1 star because of service from management/ownership NOT because of the slides or lifeguards. My family and I were season pass holders 2020; as most know they closed early. They sent notifications out stating they had to close and that they were crediting a whole $15 Splashcash to each season pass holder. They were closed half the season and only credited $15 that could not even be used for admission. Mind you the season passes regularly are $60. Because they had to close early we were never able to use the complimentary day passes that come with each season pass. I held onto them expecting them to be decent enough to honor them. I am aware them closing is not their fault HOWEVER it isn't the customers fault either. I spoke with two people on the phone regarding this and they were both incredibly rude and continued to remind me of the $15 splashcash that was credited. I let them know I would have been bringing MORE people than what 2020 day passes we had (meaning we would have been spending money) but that now we won't be coming at all. I will never waste my money there again. The business model is a complete joke and not customer centric a single bit. read more

What a disappointment! This water park is so overpriced, filthy and falling apart. My wife, son and I all had season passes last year and went several times. Every time it was a disappointment in some way. They would run out of tubes, the food was stale and overpriced, slides are frequently closed because they are literally falling apart, but what was really disgusting was the wave pool, somehow, ALWAYS had a BANDAID floating in it! We have always loved going to the Redding Water Slides and I had won some passes at a work event that were for the summer of 2018. However, we had scheduled our trip to come to the water slides last year when the Redding fire broke out and the slides closed down, obviously. When I called and asked if I could use the passes this year, I was told no. They were only good for that year. My kids were and still are so disappointed. I was hoping the my would honor the passes that I had won, which were purchased by my place if employment. TERRIBLE! This place by far is the worst water park I have been too. They are not little kid friendly I paid OVER $300 and my kids literally got to do nothing. We walked over to one part and we would get turned away than we went to another and again got told can't be there. Iv never been to a wave pool you can't have a tube. Also was told I I couldn't hold my child. Umm what. The life guards are so childish and rude. For the amount you pay to get into this dump you would be better off going to Reno ! I can't bring myself to give them one star because the lagoon is fun? Or I guess it's something else to do? Like previous reviews have mentioned this park is expensive for what it is. They do not let you bring in food or water. Their food is okay price but it is not good at all. We went with someone that has a season pass and they brought food in a cooler left it in the car and we went out when we wanted some food. Now about the park... Um it's here in Redding and it has one or two fun slides for kids over 48". Instead of the pleasant sent of summer chlorine, it smells like pee. I got home and took my bathing suit off and it absolutely reeked. I had to wash it a couple times to get that smell off. Now if the smell does not put you off, the floating band aids might. And if that is still not enough the gross chunks of hair everywhere should. It's like they have no pride in the facilities. Don't ever want to go back. Would rather go to the aquatic center or to the lake. read more

I read the reviews and almost didn't go. We where looking to break up a long drive. Glad we stopped it was great two kids 7 and 13 loved it. It is what it is a water park along I5 not great wolf lodge but if you want to get 3-4 hours of fun in the water and sun to break up a long road trip highly recommend. Excellent Fun on a Sunny Summer Day Visited Wednesday July, 23, 2014 All-day! Staff was very friendly and helpful. This was our second visit (last visit August 2013) and was even more fun because our daughter could finally ride all water slides. Favorites to her were ALL!! The park is kept very clean and organized with staff around every turn to give advice if needed. The food court has typical choices of hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs, etc. and all the we ate were very good. There are 4 long water slides that are 48" and over that our daughter did not get to last year but quickly became her favorites this year (Bunking Bronco, CorkScrew, and Whipper Snapper). One not listed on their webpage is an enclosed slide (The Dragon) and as she does not like the dark, she was leery of trying it. A young boy walking the path mentioned the neon lights inside and that did it - she was hooked - the Dragon was cool! All the other water slides are great just know these require a "tube" to slide down on, whether it is one of the free one person, or a rented two or three person tube. The Awesome Avalanche, Cyclone, and Raging River Tube ride were our daughters favorites last year and she enjoyed them equally as well again this year but the fact she could ride those 4 listed above that we off limits to her last year was a bonus. She also enjoys the lazy river and occasional dip in the kiddy pool when it was empty. As some else has suggested in the forum, rent a cabana if you can and you will always have a quick reprieve from the summer sun, and also as a bonus, a personal lock box is provided within your cabana for your keys, wallets, phones, etc. While last year we did not rent a cabana, as it was a very busy day, we had to wait for a table and chairs and shade when we needed it. This year, there were seats readily available and when we weren't using our rented tube we didn't have to keep an eye on it, we locked it safely in our cabana with a bike lock brought from home. Knowing that we could not bring in our own water bottles we immediately purchased a water and refilled it from their drinking fountain. Our habit for using a water fountain is we take water flavoring drops EVERYWHERE we go (Disney, movies, etc.) so when we refill we don't get to experience their chlorine :-) Needless to say - although WaterWorks Park may not be as large as many other waterparks around California, this water park is perfect for our family as it is close to home, has friendly staff, and lots of fun things to do! Oh, only one staff member was a bit rude, telling people to move out of her way up and down the stairs of the slides, but we (a number of people in line who commented to her) wrote it off on her age or that she might have been having a bad day herself - you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar :-) She didn't spoil our day! read more

I went here a few years back and one of my roommates had a season pass last year. It's a lot of money for only a few months enjoyment. Please be aware that Googles, Trip Advisors and Yelps open dates aren't correct. Usually they are "officially open" mid June through August. They do search your belongings and you'd be better off eating before or after. Try to stay hydrated during because Redding's 100 plus heat is a sure way to end up in the Urgent care due to Dehydration. Spend a few bucks and get some water bottles. Please read Reviews, and keep in mind that if you are driving in from out of town you might be better off at Whiskey town or Redding Aquatic. Just a suggestion. read more

Had a great time all the rides were open, all the staff was friendly, food was good but the cabana was filthy from the day before the young man cleaning it was doing a great job but the amount of trash left over caused an ant infestation, which we helped him clean up. Plus the fan wasn't included like it was supposed to be. Our whole section didn't have power but when looking into they stated it was on their website somewhere,which I could not find. Just wasn't worth the full price of $80. read more

Me and my wife decided to take our kids to the water park for Memorial Day weekend. We drove for 7 hours. Despite the other reviewers experience we jumped in the car and we went. 7 hours later and 400 miles we got there. The line was huge, it took about 20 minutes. We got to the gate and the person behind the window look like she was having not a bad but a really bad day. Well they told me the tubes were free to use and after 100+ dollars we were finally in the park. My kids were exited and tired from the long trip so they went in the lazy river. Then they decided to go up in the other rides we found out that they need it to rent the tubes I told them they said it was free and they said well you can't ride you have to go and pay for it the free ones are only for the lazy river. So after going all the way down the stairs we went to rent the tubes and it cost another 16 dollars to rent two of them. We went out to bring food to eat and they have some tables on the side in front of the park to eat. And we didn't notice till we came back the the garbage dumpsters were right next to picnic eating area. There were flies around us so we end it up eating in the car. :( We only bought an Oreo shake for $6.00 bucks. It was ok but overly priced. We like to travel almost every holiday and holiday weekends. We are always finding cool places to go to. We love the water park in Idaho but we wanted to give this one a try. Took the grandkids on Friday. Compared to last year this was a much more enjoyable experience. We all had so much fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We rented a cabana which was great to have a spot to go to and rest in between slides. Lunch was good. We were able to take our empty water bottles inside the park and fill them up with filtered ice water all day. I would have given this years experience a 5 star except there were a few ants starting to migrate in the cabana. Where there is one there are many. But we had an all around great day. read more

I remember this place as a kid. It had half the rides and ridiculously heavy tubes you had to roll up the hills and it was still fun. Water works park has potential, but is seriously lacking in cleanliness. Honestly, it's every mothers nightmare. There were bandaids and Trash all over the place in the water. The water was murky and it even smelled bad. The lazy lagoons was just nasty as well as the the main swimming pool. The food court condiment dispensers were disgusting. The bathrooms weren't actually all that bad, for how dirty the rest of the park was. I have a few management concerns. There were a couple of front row parking spaces reserved for management, while paying customers had to park in overflow parking lots. Also, the tube rental is ridiculous. You have to pay $8 to get a double tube and then get $2 back when it's returned. There are several problems with this. There are literally tubes everywhere all over the park. They are taking up valuable table space and you trip over them everywhere you turn. If they just had you stack they at the slides it would be much more logical. I'm sure it's just a money scam cuz they nickel and dime you for every single thing at the water slide. Just charged a couple dollars more and give out the tubes be free. We were there yesterday, A Saturday, with a our family of 7 and it was packed. Wait times were long and it was hard to maneuver around the park. My husband waited in line for at least 20 to 25 minutes to get some hot dogs. Our kids had fun, so that's the saving grace, but as a mother this place is a disease-aster. read more

I read the reviews before I went. They were all pretty true. Every little thing they charge you for. To get in, lockers, tubes (they need more single tubes) , ice , yes ICE. It was a bit confusing on where to buy everything you needed for the day. Anyways, after figuring everything out we did have a good time. Was disappointed with the drinking situation/ drinking fountains. Yes, as I read on another review they had drinking fountains and we brought our water bottles, but the water was luke warm and they sold ice for .50. This place should allow ice chests for water/ice only! So people can bring in ice water, especially when its 100 degrees?? Drinking soda on a hot day is not a good idea. Leaving/ returning to and from the park for lunch was easy and convenient. Wish they would plant trees for shade in parking lot/ maybe a picnic area? We bought ice cream it was yummy, over priced, but yummy. Everyone there was very nice and friendly/ helpful. The lazy river was cold in the morning and then got luke warm, so maybe replenish with some cold water throught the day? Also the ground standing in line got HOT. Bring water shoes. Have Some way to keep ground cool/ more shade over lines areas? Overall, just a few minor changes would make it better. read more

Not very clean. There was mold by the slide rides. In the bathroom it was gross, disgusting slimed and dirty floors and not stocked properly. The rides were ok but the stairs had rust and the wood was rotting. The food was over priced and YOU HAD TO PAY FOR A WATER CUP! It's .50 ,but still. When you spend $25 plus an $8 tube it's ridiculous. The kitchen / cafe help was rude and not pleasant. Overall one star. read more

Hello I wanted to inform about terrible customer service at Waterworks Park. We booked a party there for this Thursday June 24 and spent a few hundred dollars doing so. They just called us saying there was a "computer glitch" and the park is actually closed that day. We had invited and paid for about 25 guests to be there. It's 2 days before hand! Apparently it's closed to the public this Thursday and the public should know!! They said they had over 100 people to call!!!! When the employee Rebecca called me to get my credit card number for reimbursement she left a voicemail laughing about it! Such poor customer service!!! I personally don't find it funny!! It's a little girls birthday and how many other little kids hearts are they breaking! They were completely unsympathetic excepting US to feel sorry for their malfunction. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service!!!! Families should be ware of a place that cares so little! read more

It's the beginning of the season umbrellas are broke, tables & chairs have black crap all over them from last year and several of the workers including (especially) management are pretty condescending to people. WHAT A DUMP I had my daughters birthday here and I wish I had gone else where. I called and set everything up. A few days before the party I called again to verify everything was good. I was told it was. So we get there and get out tickets and I ask about the raft rentals and the girls at the window tell me to go pay for them at the raft pick up location, so I walk over there and the girl there tells me she does not take any money. I had to as some other employee and he told me you pay for them at the snack center. So every one is having a good time and im about to order the food I paid for and the lady tells me the cafeteria is closed for the day. I explained to her my situation and told her that I was told over the phone that the park closed at 8pm. Well she tells me that I was misinformed and that the park actually closes at 6pm. She was cool and made us out food any ways. By the time the kids were done with the pizza the park was pretty much empty and we had to finish my kids birthday cake outside in the parkinglot with two tables provided by the manager on site at the time. He was very helpful. The following monday I called and spoke to the owner or head manager there and she was a real BITCH. I told her my story and I could tell she did not care one bit and just wanted to get me off the phone. All she kept telling me was that her staff would not tell me the park closes at 8pm, or that they would send me to the back to pay for my raft rentals. This park is dirty and full of rude, seasonal, teenage workers that can not answer your questions or they give you wrong information. I have not gone back to this park nor will I ever. read more

This place is a real (money) pit. I'd love to find out who the operating manager is for this place. It's in serious disrepair -- almost unapologetically. They have this whole side hussle regarding raft rental for double or triple rider rafts that is ridiculously complex and irritating. Trust me, you're better off not renting rafts. There is a REMARKABLE lack of signage in the park. The park management instead relies on their high school age staff to run around telling park patrons when they have broken one of their many, and sometimes completely arbitrary, rules. I could write a small book explaining how poorly managed this park is, but I'd be better off just saying: avoid this park. Its best days are behind it. If you are interested in seeing what bad management can do to a business, this place could be a teaching museum. read more

I would go to waterworks allot during the summers and always loved it and had so much fun but this year was different There water was disgusting it doesnt get skimmed because everytime i went there was so much crap (bandaids hair dirt leaves earings etc) the managers are rude all there stuff is over priced staff is not trained properly. Went there for the first time today.... Very disappointed. Prices were wayyyy too high and you cant even bring in water. That was the dumbest thing I have ever herd. I can see no food or sodas, but water?? It gets 115 in Redding, why cant i bring in my own water? Thats just one complaint. Like others have said, I would have to write a book just for the complaints I have for this place. Most of the staff is rude and think they own you. Oh, and cant forget the tubes. They cost 8 bucks just to rent the double and triple tubes and you have to wait in line for 20 mins for the single ones before you even stand in line for the slide which is another 20 or so mins. The bathrooms were disgusting and the place was kinda dirty. There is no signage for anything so ppl dont know where to put the tubes or where to even go get them since there were none laying around. Some simple fixes would be to clean your bathrooms, dont make ppl rent the damn tubes, and LET THEM BRING IN WATER!!! read more

I took my 2.5 daughter to Waterworks park last year and we had a great time in their kiddie section. The pool is adequate, as are the few slides they offer to toddlers. What is NOT adequate, is the lack of staff in this area. There was one teenager who blew her whistle when I attempted to accompany my daughter down the smallest slide to acclimat her, but no one to supervise the line of 10+ kids waiting to go down the slides on either side of the "Blue Slide Czar." Children were going down the slides backwards, stopping in the middle of the slides, then walking UP them. I finally helped bring some order to the line, order, and getting the kids safely down the slide...and I paid for this? This year went back with friends. According to their signage, my daughter met the requirements to ride the Cyclone as long as I went with her. I spent $8 on a double tube to rent just for this ride. We stood in line, got to the top, and a teenager said she was too small and that she didn't meat the height requirement WHICH WAS A RANDOM BAR AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE RIDE MANY FLIGHTS OF STAIRS UP. Down we walked with our tube, daughter sad and me FURIOUS. I returned to the snack bar where we rented the tube and asked for a refund and GOT IT. I thought our day was looking up...we swam in the pool, floated down the lazy river, Then we went back to the kiddie area, where it was a repeat of last year only this year, the teenager had MORE attitude, there were MORE kids, and a few times, the horsing around at the top of the slides nearly caused a child to fall down the slide. Yes, the place is small. Yes, it appears as though they could use some equipment improvements. Yes, the food is bad. Yes, the little store is WAY overpriced. And of course they search your bags. I think it's a desperate to make money but the problem is, they're losing customers this way. Hire one more teenager at minimim wage so parents will feel like their children are safe when riding their rides. For that matter, they had one teenager directing four slides. It's not going to kill your payroll to add two more kids at minimum wage. And water. WATER. If you conduct a outdoor business that you want people to visit in a town that reaches 105 and up in the summer, LET THEM BRING IN WATER. Or, wait for the bad press when someone has heat stroke because they spent all of their money on a tube. OH...and invest in a few more tubes. And add signage about which tubes go with which rides at the BOTTOM of the ride. I can't even go on. I'm done with this place. read more

This waterpark was borderline filthy. I understand waterparks can be kind of dirty but I was really suprised today on our short visit. The toddler area slides were covered in what looked to be years of built up dirt. Being the beginning of the season I would have expected at least clean slides and walkways. The landing pads for the kids slides were cracked and appeared moldy. The sitting areas were trashed with broken chairs that were falling apart and littered with food. There was food on the ground on many of the relaxation areas and in the common walkways. The floating river was pretty much unuseable. Stuff floating everywhere with dingy murky water. I was truly suprised to see the unbelievable condition of this place. Huge dissapointment. Staff was friendly hence the two stars. read more

If you have gone to other waterparks such as Raging water, you will be disappointed in the Waterworks. This is a small park by comparison. Cost is $19 for most, or $12 from 3pm-6 pm. It opens at 10am and closes most days at 6pm. A hamburger meal costs $8.50, and you are not allowed to bring in anything drinkable. Bags are checked. An icee is $3. A hamburger only is $4. They have the standard rides most parks have at raging water, they simply are not as high or good.All two and three man tubes must be rented for $8. Free tubes are single. After about two hours, it becomes boring. Two 12 yr olds that I took rated it a D grade. It is OK to visit once, but that is it. read more

As I stand here in line in 100+ degrees with my 4 year old and 6 month old to get our pictures taken for season passes I'm doubting my choice now. They have one employee working the window. In which one transaction seems to take at minimum 5-7 minutes. Seems like a half hour when you're standing in the hot weather waiting. -sitting under the covered areas I look up to see fans but they do not appear to be on or plugged in at all? Solution: have 2 people working in the office to help expedite transactions in a timely manner for the situation at hand. -I was also interrupted by a guest who came to the office from inside the park to ask questions which took more time away from the staff member (only 1 person) in the office. #2 install misting systems and turn the fans on that are already in place?! read more

Oh come on folks it's not that bad. Yes it smells kinda funky, yes I saw a few band aids, and yes the food was crap! But I thought the staff was friendly and very helpful. They were apologetic for the beach bag "pat down" (which you get at many amusement parks). The kids had a blast and so did grandma. Considering the age of this place I think they're doing a pretty good job. So everybody lighten up and go get your slide on!! read more

A summer must if you have kiddos. We went at least 3 times a week. We have never had a problem. We tend to go in the evenings when it's less crowded. We mainly stay in the kiddie area. I do wish that sometimes more staff was in the area. When it's really really busy they do but when it's only 1 person it's so hard for them to watch the water, watch the kids running up to the slides and monitoring that they don't fall while standing on the kiddie water slide. Going for the day is to expensive, getting a pass is worth it even if you go just a couple times. They have specials when you buy your pass off season (plus you get a free ticket per pass) and seniors get a great discount pass. We have never bought food at the snack bar but we loved getting a double scoop of ice cream. read more
