It really is disappointing how soon my journey with with Waterway has ended. My husband and I have been taking my daughter since she was 4 months old until now that she's 1.5yrs old. Throughout the time we had to stop attending due to my new pregnancy, but I really enjoyed the dynamic of the class and Daniel as an instructor and of course the price. So we re-enrolled our daughter once I had my son, but as any parent knows, with any new additions to a family it can be difficult to go out during the first weeks. I thought our 12 classes membership would be okay if we didn't sign up for every single weekend, because hey things come up or something happens. Yesterday my membership expired although I had only attended 6 classes and had 6 remaining Harvey did nothing but reinstate that my pass was expired and there was nothing he can do. So unless you can sign up every weekend then I would recommend this place. *But if you can't make it to every class due to life changing events or maybe your kid is sick , PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE. Your paid in advance membership will be useless. The quality of the classes itself has changed, classes are overly full. Sometimes Daniel can't make it and other "instructors" are there but the class doesn't feel like a class, it feels like you are at a pool just hanging out with other parents waiting for some sort of guidance but nothing is coordinated so you just spent 30 mins standing in a pool, using up your membership in poor quality instructors. Overall, while the price is affordable perhaps it is best to find somewhere where they value their customers and give quality classes all the time. I definitely recommend this swim school. I almost didn't want to write this review because I wanted Waterway USA to remain my hidden gem and best kept secret! As a parent there are several things that crossed my mind while searching for a swim school for my then 9-month-old baby and Waterway USA met all of my criteria and continues to be everything that I was looking for! 1. Cleanliness - The facility is clean, and the pool is clean! 2. Safety - We learn how to teach our babies about water safety and repeat key skills that will be needed if they ever happen to fall into a pool. When you purchase a 12 pack of lessons it's only about $15 per class for the 'Parent & Me' lessons! 9. Baby Friendly - I was so relieved that they have a changing area for babies! It is an enclosed HEATED room with a large changing table, chairs, and an area to hang up your items. 10. Quality - Overall the quality instructors, professionalism, value, and lessons are amazing! We first were introduced to Water Ways 3 yrs ago and I had brought my then, 4yr old daughter to try them out. I was impressed at the low priced classes and that they are available year round in the enclosed pool. We unfortunately did not keep up with the classes, but once we were ready I didn't hesitate to come straight back to Water Ways. They have small enough classes that my child gets all the attention and help she needs. After 4 classes her confidence in the water has increased tremendously. I found this place online. I was looking for an aquatic sport for my newborn. It's important to me that she gets comfortable with the water and also play with other babies. After hours of research and visits to a bunch of facilities, I found Daniel at Waterway USA and my child couldn't be happier. My daughter started her lessons at approximately 6 months of age, and even in the group classes, the instructors all made sure to take time with every child and customize the experience based on skill level. This isn't your typical "splash around and sing" type of deal. While my child does have fun, shes also learning self rescues techniques and can even hold her breath for up to 5 seconds under water. My 3 year old son and I came here last Saturday for his first ever swimming lesson with the Parent and me class. First of all, let me start with what I thought was good about the place. The water is heated, they have restrooms, a changing area and showers. Okay, now on to why I only gave it 1 star. Coming in to the class, I was expecting less students with kids in the 2-4 age range. There were definitely more than 10 kids in this class not to mention a parent for each child for the one instructor, which I'm assuming is Daniel; he had an accent. Too many people in the water at once, kids splashing, talking, and crying all makes it hard to hear the instructor talking. Not to mention the other 3 one-on-one swim lessons going on at the other end of the pool. The age range was another issue. I had signed up for the Toddler Swim class which states ages 2-4. Part of the email I received... "Your appointment for Long Beach Location-Toddler Swim 2yrs.-4yrs. (Long Beach) on Saturday, August 2, 2014 1:00pm PDT lasting 30 minutes has been successfully scheduled." There was a mother there with her baby that looked about 8 months old and another mother with her son who clearly looked older than 6 years. From the website.. "Please note that the lessons are a guide to assist scheduling a class only - each swimmer is taught according to their own individual level." Not true, my son is deathly afraid of big swimming pools. Not sure why as he hasn't had experience with swimming pools in the first place, so he hasn't had a traumatizing event. I'm thinking it's a "can''t touch the ground" issue. Anyway, my son sat on the steps of the pool the whole time. Only once did the instructor try to get him in the pool by giving him a swim toy. My son took the toy and didn't get in. Now I know, it's going to be a slow approach with getting my son into the pool but what the website states and what is actually being taught is contradictory. No child in that class was getting taught by their individual level. Especially the mother with the baby. About Us section on their website... "We specialize in unique methodology, which combines a holistic and developmental approach." Key word: HOLISTIC. Half way through the class, the instructor took one of the girls from her mother to do a demonstration and went about 4 feet away from the mother. The little girl started crying out loud and calling for her mom. The instructor continued to talk ignoring the girls crying. He even continued to demonstrate by holding her under her arms with his hands, dunked her under water with her crying still and "swam" her up to the wall of the pool, where he then gave her back to her mother and she continued to cry. WTF?! I watched the whole thing play out in front of me and that little girls mouth was open when he put her under the water. Holistic approach my ass. I can't imagine my son feeling encouraged to do the same after watching that. Oh, one other thing... Why is the door to the restrooms/showers/changing area locked on the inside so that you have to walk all the way around back to the entrance. My son had to go pee before and during the lesson and it was annoying to have to walk all the around. Minor issue compared to the above. If none of the above happened, this wouldn't have kept me from returning. I won't be returning with my son. I won't be getting my money back either as it's too late to cancel to get a full refund. Although I did pay using the Amazon Local deal so I'm not as disappointed in getting my money back as much as how this class turned out to be. read more

So my five year old son is on the verge of swimming. We tried the mommy and me classes and group lessons over the years, but he just was not getting it. I found Waterway on yelp with its glowing reviews and thought, let's give it a try. I called the number and spoke with Daniel. He was patient and answered all my questions. We decided that private lessons was the best way to go. We had our first lesson last week The instructors were clearly knowledgable and and had experience with children. My son was a little hesitant at first, but with a little coaching from his instructor, jumped right in. Unfortunately, it started to rain and for the safety of all, the pool had to be closed. We are at lesson 2 now, and I can see how comfortable my son is in the water. Waterways is a great place. The instructors truly care about the children and interact with them in such a way that which makes me smile. A little bit of background : My daughter attended a swim school last year (she was 2.5 years old) at a place in Gardena. She had an absolute horrible experience. Prior to that she was a student at YMCA but we had to relocate. The school in Gardena left an almost traumatizing experience she would kick and scream at the site of a swimming pool or bathing suit. She's now 3.5 as I waited a year before deciding where to put her in next and found this school. We attended the first class today and let's just say it went so well she cried because we had to leave. I'm actually now considering signing up for their pregnancy classes The teachers Michael and I wasnt able to get the other teachers name were so welcoming and helpful that it was a pleasant experience overall. We didn't feel like we were over seen because there was other students in the class as they went around and checked if we were all doing demonstrations correctly. I located this place on online was throughly impressed with the reviews. In addition, I also reviewed the website and watched Daniels philosophy on teaching new swimmers. All of which set my at ease as I searched for a instructor to teach my 13 month old son. my 1st lesson was at the Inglewood location, Daniel was not there and there was another male instructor. Unfortunately, I forgot his name. But he was very patient and kind to first timers like myself. I neglected to mention I do not know how to swim. Therefore, I am hell bent on my son knowing how. My second swim lesson was at this LB location and Daniel was present. However, in comparison, the LB location was a bit chaotic. There was a lot going on. The inglewood location was calmer and therefore in my opinion more conducive for learning. However, the LB location seemed slightly larger and had a a splash pool for the babies which I liked. But it was overcrowded so we didn't get it. In addition, Daniels techniques were drastically different from the other instructor. I believe this is due in part to the LB group having to having attended more than one lesson prior, like myself. Nonetheless, the lesson was effective in getting my son acclimated to the water. We visited many swim schools for our 5 year old daughter in the region, and this was the only school that expertly taught our daughter how to swim with meaningful lessons without the fillers. WaterWay is top-notch. We had to force my crying 2-year-old into the pool for his first lesson at WaterWay. Daniel, the instructor of that class, was supportive to my son, engaged him, gave both the kids and parents instructions that were easy to follow, and made the lesson exercises into games for the children. As soon as we got out of the pool, my son started telling me all about how he wanted to go swimming with Daniel again, how he wanted to do more "Humpty Dumpties" and jump off the wall, and how he loved chasing the pool balls. I cannot recommend this place. I tried cancelling my appointments and they still called me. I did NOT consent to receive their emails aside from the initial waiver form. I've attempted to unsubscribe from their emails TWICE yet they still spam me and harass me with their newsletters. Initially I wanted to try this place out because I purchased a voucher. The first time I called them at (562)-253-7164, a male employee told me that the number on the voucher (which I dialed) is the corporate office and told me that I could not make a reservation at that number. Then he asked me if I wanted him to text me the female employee's number (Crystal) who is responsible for taking down reservations. I took her number down and called a few days later. Failing to reach her, I decided to text her. Literally immediately after I texted her, she called me back from the so called corporate number (562) 253-7164 (Which she would not have done if she did not receive my text). I set two appointments for swim lessons. I gave her my email address which she repeated after me correctly, but a few minutes later I had not received the release forms that she said she was going to send to me. So I called back, and had to repeat my email address to her. After receiving the release forms via email, I noticed the change of the swimming locations in the email which I had not been informed of over the phone. Instead of calling again since I had already done so one too many times, I decided to text her to cancel the classes knowing that she had in fact received my previous text. I clearly sent her a text saying that I was cancelling both appointments and this text was sent 24 hours in advance to the first appointment (I was following their cancellation policy). Well, 10 minutes after the first appointment time came around, I received a call and voicemail from that female employee (Crystal) asking me if I was coming to the lesson and telling me that I would lose credit if I didn't show up. I called back soon after and no one picked up. So I sent her another text telling her that I had already cancelled the appointments so there should be no confusion as to whether I am coming to any of the appointments. No response. Then a few days later, I received an email stating my appointment reminder (for the second appointment which I had already cancelled via text message), only THIS TIME it gave me an option to cancel over the email which I did again just to be sure. They then started sending me emails to which I unsubscribed to not once, but TWICE. Yet I still continue to receive their emails. I cannot comment on the swimming instructions or locations as I did not and will not ever take or recommend swimming lessons there after all of that hassle. read more

They kept class size small so that kids get more personalized attention and instructors who remember their strengths and weaknesses from week to week. 6/11/2018 Private Swim Lessons.....more like semi-private lessons.... (Long Beach Location) The "private lessons" are actually semi-private, although you are with a swim instructor 1 on 1; you actually share the pool with 1 to 2 other "private swimming lessons" and a class. Sure the pool is divided, but my first "private swim lesson" I was in distraught and confused because I was under the impression the private swim lesson would be just and the instructor in the pool. There is only 1 pool, and it only goes up 4.5 ft deep, this pool gets divided into three sections one for a class, another for the "private swim classes", and lastly a small section for kids two swim freely. Swimming Status - I am an adult that learn to float on my back and do backstroke, all thanks to Jill who was very patient and pushed me. She constantly assessed me and used different techniques (floatation devices) to improve my swimming. My freestyle ( treading) is still shaky I need to practice that. (5 stars for Jill, but actual facility and company 3 stars) Tips: 1. Sign up for discounts on their main page (wait a couple of weeks) to receive discounts on the Swimming classes; this includes "private" too! You can even receive 1 free lesson offer (watch for their e-mails) 2. Bring your own cap and goggles to swim 3. Showers are available inside the restrooms bring your own shampoo, body wash, towel Suggestions for WaterWay: 1. Update your prices on your Pricing Page; prices listed on the page are different when you sign up for classes (there's a $10 difference) 2. Have signs posted outside and inside the facility, it can quite confusing for first-timers to find the entrance 3. Our 3 year old is definitely making strides with Waterway USA! A few weeks ago she was strictly in floaties, and now she's able to swim short distances back and forth without any device. The classes have really helped her learn how to use her arms, legs, and overall build confidence. She's still really nervous when it comes to floating on her back, and we have a ways until she is fully water safe. But we're on our way! She loves the class, and enjoys the different tactics and games Daniel uses. We had done a class when she was much smaller through the city, and I wasn't impressed--I felt like the use of class time was very inefficient.
