Went to waterloo for the 3rd year on a row for an annual holiday get together. It's always decorated for Christmas and it's so cute! A couple of us ordered the prime rib and while it was really good we had to send it back for a warm up. Our server was efficient and helpful and a fun time was had by all!

A week ago my husband traveled to Akron for some business. Remembering Waterloo's awesome cream puff, I asked him to pick me one up. After returning home I had to just get a quick fingerful of the cream... I don't know what happened but it didn't have that delicious almond/amaretto taste to it. I kept quiet as I didn't want to sway my husbands view and later that evening after dinner I cut between a quarter to a half and served it up with the hot fudge they only filled halfway. So disappointing... you pay almost $10. for this cream puff with minuscule amount of hot fudge and bland cream. Husband didn't like it either... all went into the trash... If this wasn't bad enough. I called twice and after asking for a manager waited 5 minutes both times only to listen to a prerecorded song both times and no one picking backup. I then resulted to an email on their website and that is why I am here sharing this.... They just don't care... So find some place else to eat unless your going to sit in their restaurant were you can complain face to face. Here's our disgusting cream puff

Came here tonight for dinner with two family members. We had a blast! The restaurant was decorated for the holidays which created a very festive atmosphere. Once we were seated, someone came to take our drink orders. I had a cranberry drink from the bar menu which tasted great. We shared the award winning homemade sauerkraut balls as an appetizer. Those were delicious. We had to let them cool a bit before eating as they came right out of the kitchen and were hot. They are served with cocktail sauce which I wasn't sure I would like, but I did. The cocktail sauce is a good compliment to the sauerkraut balls. For my entree, I had the haddock which came with cold slaw and Mac and cheese. This is an amazing entree! The cold slaw was freshly made and had a unique taste that I really enjoyed. The Mac and cheese was super creamy! Good balance of cheese sauce to the macaroni. The haddock was delicious too. The portion was HUGE and I had to ask for a box. We couldn't pass up dessert! So we ordered one to split. I highly recommend the cream puff! It's a homemade dessert, including the cream, that was made-to-order and melted in my mouth. The staff was working hard all night. They were very attentive to us, other dine-in customers, and taking care of all the take out orders that people came in to pick up. I can't wait to come back to Waterloo! The food is amazingly delicious!

Decent food and fairly good service. A family style restaurant that has a lot of variety and most dishes are fairly good.

My work, a group of 10, had their end of the year dinner party here in mid December of 2025 and we…read morewere overall, happy with our service, food, and experience, despite service being a little slow and prices a little high and some food a little bland. I'd give this a 4.25 stars. If you read my reviews, you know that terrible car accidents happen to me after work dinners (see review on The Industry for one such example). Thankfully, dear readers, I did not have any car incidents after THIS specific work dinner. Haha! Anyway, The Bistro of Green is in a strip mall five minutes from my work office and is an institution for locals in the area - people in my group were reminiscing about coming to Bistro multiple times a month before Covid, back when they were open for lunch. The menu seems to change often. They do have a couple specials on a board outside the door that are not on their printed menu, just FYI. Our dinner took over 2 and a half hours, starting with complimentary bread and our drinks of choice. The free bread was fine. I ordered a seasonal cocktail, the Apple Cranberry Sangria, despite cocktails not having a price listed (see menu picture). I tend never to order things that do not have the price listed but the cocktail sounded too good to resist. It was yummy and very sugary and fruity, with added mint leaves that definitely brought it up a notch! Our party also split 4 appetizers: the hot peppers ($13), baked provolone ($14), calamari ($16), and flatbread ($16). As the portions are not meant to be shared between 10 people, I only had a little bit of each. I wasn't into the peppers (too mushy) but the calamari was my favorite! I could see myself ordering this as a dinner just for myself in the future. Two thirds of the hot pepper dish was ignored by the group in the end. For my main, half of which I took home as it was getting very late and my drive back home is almost an hour, I chose to get the Bistro burger (medium rare) and fries ($18). This was chosen based on cost alone - even though I really wanted a chicken or steak dish, I just could not afford them. I am only a lonely assistant, not a CEO! I debated getting one of the other sandwich options, also both $18, but the lack of pictures either on Google or Yelp made me just stick with a burger. My lack of funds kept me from being too adventurous for this dinner, sadly. Next time, I'd be down to try their fancy grilled cheese (or steak, if someone else foots the bill). The burger was good, although not amazing, and the fries were that nice mix of just oily and crispy enough. Service was okay. Things apparently got busy at the bar, so it took longer than it should have for us to get our drinks and food throughout the night. As for vibes, it was nicely decorated for Christmas, lights were dim, and Christmas music played softly in the background. No complaints here! In the end, for a sangria, burger, fries, tax, and tip (plus a 3% surcharge for using a credit card), my dinner cost me over $40. Can you imagine just how much worse the bill would have been if I hadn't gotten the cheapest thing on the menu? Next time, I will also remember to bring cash. And choose a more unique dish.

Our family had dinner at the Bistro of Green and it just okay. The French Onion Soup had cheese…read morethat was burned and black. It left a bitter taste but otherwise was fine. The steak salad was nice size with fresh ingredients and the ranch dressing was good. The steak was done correctly but had a fair amount of fat and some portions were grizzled and hard to cut. I would return and just order something else. The service was very good and the ambiance was great.
