The Rock-yer-feller oysters came on a small ceramic plate that came out of the oven with no shells. The flavor was just ok. I wouldn't get it again. The oysters were hardy and good in size, made me feel like maybe they were from a jar or can. Stuff crab was meh. Shrimp didn't have seasoning, cocktail sauce was vinegar based? There was just a strong vinegar presence. The fish was by far the all star but even it tasted a little slimy when you took off the breading. Zero seasoning on the breading. The fried oysters were delicious, and I loved the fried mushrooms. Hush puppies are from a freezer bag. My daughter loved her fried chicken tenders. At $170 for three appetizers and three meals with one Dr Pepper, I felt like someone just kicked my dog. We didn't buy any, but the Snow crab was MP at $54 a pound? That's 100-150% markup from the wholesale. HEB sells it for $22 a lb at retail which is at least a 40% markup from wholesale. If your prices are going to be that high, your food should meet the expectation. It felt more like a person, opening a seafood restaurant in a fishing community, that buys everything from a frozen vendor, cooks it like a fast food restaurant, and sells it at a farm to table price. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived. We were seated pretty much right away. Our server was really nice and took our drink order as soon as we sat down. There was quite a selection of Chinese food as well as some American and kid friendly options like chicken nuggets and cheese pizza. There was also a beef pot roast. My kid liked the egg rolls and the noodles. I had the fried rice, lo mein, puffy chicken, okra, cheese pizza, and the roasted veggies. The okra and rice did need some salt, but I put soy sauce on it, and it was good, same with the puffy chicken. The cheese pizza was good as was the lo mein. Roasted veggies were also good. My husband had the pork and sweet and sour chicken. He said it was good. We didn't have any dessert, but my kid got jello and said it was good. There is also a small salad bar, but we didn't use it. My husband said he wishes that the food at the buffet bar was labeled because it's sometimes a guessing game as to what things are. Restaurant was very clean and staff would clear the tables as soon as people would leave. There were also good at taking away dirty plates when we were done with them. I do wish Grand Buffet had a bit more of an atmosphere. It feels more like a quick pop up restaurant. It needs a bit more decoration or something. It just feels a bit...empty I guess? They did have music playing which helped with the ambiance a bit. I did like that there is plenty of seating though. Staff were all friendly and very helpful. For two adults and a 10 year old child we paid around $37.64 before tip. This was for two adult buffets and a child buffet. I had water which was free, but my husband a kid each had a soda.
