Ambiance is relaxed and laid back, plenty of room for solos and large gatherings. They don't lack for space. Staff were friendly-ish. Seadrift is a small town of just under 1000 people, sometimes your job and get a little cumbersome. It showed. Staying in Tivoli at an AirBnb, so we thought we'd give it a try based on local recommendation. Was hoping it was that hole in the wall knock your socks off establishment that would make me want to stop again and again. But it wasn't. Maybe my expectations were too high going in. Let's start with the positives. Crab dip was creamy and delicious, just didn't taste like crab. Oyster appetizers should always come on a half shell. The Rock-yer-feller oysters came on a small ceramic plate that came out of the oven with no shells. The flavor was just ok. I wouldn't get it again. The oysters were hardy and good in size, made me feel like maybe they were from a jar or can. Stuff crab was meh. Shrimp didn't have seasoning, cocktail sauce was vinegar based? There was just a strong vinegar presence. The fish was by far the all star but even it tasted a little slimy when you took off the breading. Zero seasoning on the breading. The fried oysters were delicious, and I loved the fried mushrooms. Hush puppies are from a freezer bag. My daughter loved her fried chicken tenders. At $170 for three appetizers and three meals with one Dr Pepper, I felt like someone just kicked my dog. We didn't buy any, but the Snow crab was MP at $54 a pound? That's 100-150% markup from the wholesale. HEB sells it for $22 a lb at retail which is at least a 40% markup from wholesale. If your prices are going to be that high, your food should meet the expectation. It felt more like a person, opening a seafood restaurant in a fishing community, that buys everything from a frozen vendor, cooks it like a fast food restaurant, and sells it at a farm to table price. I paid and tipped generously. But there was nothing that made me want to come back. read more

A great spot! They have amazing seafood boils, including crawfish when it's in season. Sunday buffet is on point and includes fried chicken. The best part is that Bubba gives back and sponsors the annual fireworks show on July 4th that goes on for over an hour! It's a true gem. read more

I was really craving some seafood and ended up driving a little far out to Seadrift, but.... IT WAS WORTH IT. We started off with some Calamari & I can honestly say, it's the best I've ever had. I also got the half dozen Oysters, they were fresh & delicious. For my entre I got the Fried Seafood platter, everything tasted great. Our waitress was amazing. The place is clean, the people and staff are wonderful. You can tell the restaurant is a town favorite, it was busy the whole time we were there. This is a gem, well hidden, but worth the drive. Nice clean atmosphere, really nice and helpful staff. Tvs all around showing sports. Loads of cajun dishes; the étouffée was most excellent. The fried shrimp had a light, thin, crispy batter like tempura, prepared well. Well done sides. Ask questions about preparation though: the flounder on the combo plate has a different breading then the flounder place. Recommend. read more

If you're down on the coast and don't want to venture into Port Lavaca, then this isn't a bad little spot. Arrived close to 6PM on a Saturday, so the place was pretty busy and had to take whatever table we could. Which probably left us at a disadvantage being in the corner of the restaurant. The bartender was also waiting on our table - if that gives you an inclination of how the service went. Hit and miss. Had the stuffed shrimp platter and the little one had a hamburger. Little oe liked the hamburger, but only had half. It was pretty big, but I also think he was wiped out after a day of fishing. Pretty standard frozen fries, or at least tasted that way. Tried to get steamed broccoli instead of the grilled as listed on the menu, but they wouldn't accommodate. Since they are boiling pots back in the kitchen, you'd think they could steam some broccoli as well....... The salad which came with the platter was mediocre at best. Lettuce, tomato, dressing. But you don't really come for the salad, do you? Onion rings that I got for my other side were SOLID! I'd come back for those in a heartbeat. Stuffed shrimp (4 on the platter, if I remember) were butterflied and were about half shrimp and half breading. If it was stuffed with something I couldn't tell. Since the rental is closer to PL, we'll probably just go there next time. More dining options. read more

Bubba's is the best seafood boil place in the area. Always have to make a stop while down there. Any of the boils are great or any of the other menu items we have tried are too! Highly recommend the boudin egg rolls. And don't forget the adders to the boils, definitely recommend the mushrooms. Highly recommend. read more

We're mid-way through a 10 day stay in POC, and we've already been here twice. The crawfish are VERY well done and amazing quality...very big. The boudin balls and spicy boudin are both fabulous. I was craving fried oysters and unfortunately they were out, so I had fried shrimp which were amazing. The service was on point and everyone is very friendly. We usually get great seafood here, but today, they were off. The fried fish tasted like fried batter only. The fish was sliced so thin that you could not taste it. The grilled shrimp was ok but very small, like salad shrimp. Overall, it was not worth the money we paid. Only saving grace was the waitress. Have been to Bubbas several times. WORST service ever today! Waited almost 10 min to get someone to take our drink order... asked if we had a waitress.. everyone pointing at everyone else. A bunch of new faces / teens. No greet at the door.. very impersonal. Which is not the legacy that was being laid. Not good for business or returning business Oh and they were NOT BUSY. This place is a cool dive. The service is fantastic and the staff are all very nice. The plates are generous and the beer is cold. My son had the bacon cheeseburger and onions rings. The burger was huge and the onion rings are hand battered and delicious. My other son had the half order chicken fried steak. It was tender and flavorful. My husband and I shared the Bubba's Big Catch. It was huge! They were out of blue crab so they replaced with extra shrimp...that didn't bother me at all. The Dungeness crab was so good and easy to crack and peel. We asked for medium spice level and it was perfect. My ONLY complaint is the size of the shrimp....they were very small. Drove from Rockport to come and try out Bubba's Cajun here in Seadrift. So worth the drive started off with an appetizer Crab dip with baguette bread so delicious. Ordered Fried seafood platter came with your choice of soup or salad ordered the soup shrimp Cajun did not disappoint. Main dish was outstanding would definitely make the drive back.
