We are here while on vacation and the food was horrible. We should have know better since it was lunch time and only 1 car in the parking lot. Grandson ordered corny dog tots and fries and they tasted horrible. Wife ordered seafood platter and ended up sick that night . I ordered shrimp and felt bad but didn't throw up. My husband and I grabbed a quick lunch to-go from here while in town. I read all of the previous reviews and honestly thought that, while I appreciated the actual reviews, some of the ratings were extreme and unfair, just based off the review. I had a very pleasant experience and look forward to many more trips here. I randomly showed up to order to-go and must say that the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and came out relatively quickly and was very tasty. Please note that it is a bit pricey, but I have found that most coastal destinations are. For example, the po boy's are delicious, but you have to order fries separately. The inside has a super cool and beach vibe. I stopped by at the height of COVID, so most chairs were put up and unavailable, but I could tell that it would be a great stop for future dinners. The place is amazing! The service was fast & friendly. The food was wonderful. We ate Fried Fish platter. Catfish, crab cake, oysters, shrimp, hush puppies with slaw or salad and fries or onion rings. The slaw & onion rings were awesome. read more

Update Brought sister in law and friend here and ate Fried Catfish Dinner, Chicken Fried Steak, and Hamburger Steak.- all three were excellent. You can get great burgers here seafood and smaller meals too. All the the food is fresh and tastefully cooked and presented. Service is great and the atmosphere is fun loving. Gets better and better! Tried this place a while back, and now after a second visit I am convinced it is okay. Not fancy not crowded. Pleasant enough decor and staff. No problems getting waited on for late lunch, and food came from the kitchen very appetizing appearance. That's it - it was okay. First time here e had burgers which were basic and fine. On the second visit we ordered the Diablo Shrimp Dinner with comes with fries and salad. We had tea to drink. My first swallow of tea and it was so strong I couldn't drink it. My husband liked it, but the waitress brought the pink packets and he likes regular sugar and doing it himself. No sugar packets or canisters on any tables. Meanwhile- the salads arrive. We ask the waitress for sugar. The salad is just iceberg lettuce with 4-5 cherry tomatoes - nothing special. The onion ring appetizer comes out, and the waitress brings a plastic bullet size to go cup of sugar out also. So the ice tea for my husband is fine but I had to get a glass of water. Caffeine issues - my problem. The onion rings were crunchy and battered to perfection. Our meal came out and I was impressed with the bacon being very well cooked and the shrimp too because sometimes the shrimp gets overdone while trying to get the bacon cooked. Not here - both orders were perfectly cooked. We ordered Swamp Fries which is basically buttermilk and flour dredged home style potatoes with the skin left on. Good stuff and a little out of the ordinary for this area. The best part was the Swamp Sauce that comes with them. A basic ranch dressing with added jalapeño and cilantro. Someone recommended this place to me. They said they were really good! So we thought we would give it a try. Well today must have been a bad day because it was not good at all. First they didn't have crawfish or oysters or crab even though all that was on the menu. The waitress said her favorite was the bacon wrapped shrimp so I ordered it. The shrimp tasted old and fishy. Not good. Several of us ordered onion rings but when they came out with our orders they were cold. My sister's chicken fried steak was also cold. The food overall was lacking. The tables and floor was so sticky. The place needed a good cleaning. Also since there were more than 6 people, the waitress added in the gratuity. That's fine but she gave herself a 20% tip! Never heard of that. 15% yes but not 20! Just so disappointed. Will not be coming back. read more

It was ok. We had oysters and catfish. I had no problems with the food but the in the back where all the food is stored people were smoking. Not smoking hot. Smoking cigarettes. All in all. It's a pretty decent place considering the town. If you want average food with a little tobacco ash flavor, this might be your spot. read more

Well I guess the fourth time is a charm. I tried, I really tried. I called this location 20 minutes prior to my planned pickup time to ask specifically "Do you have 4 baked potatoes left?". I was told "Let me check with the kitchen" Good news "Yes we do". Excellent, I will be there in say twenty minutes to pick them up, as my order taker is assuring me that they will need fifteen to twenty minutes to get them ready. All is Good right? I did not get a baked potato, I got a microwaved potato, at least two of them. Now you have to understand I hate baked potatoes, they are simply food. I can microwave a potato in approx 2 to 4 minutes all on my own, WHY would I pay someone to do so and then call it a baked potato?? Baked potato, fairly consistent smooth creamy texture, skin is generally softened and easily tolerated. Baked in an oven or grill or even an open campfire ffs, but not microwaved. Microwaved potato, inconsistent texture(you see some of it cooks and some of it does not) the skin is generally inedible from trying to keep the eruptions of steam contained within itself from the completely disproportionate manner of heating. But MOST of all, the condescending manner of the manager whom I called and asked why this happened telling me that all their baked potatoes are microwave potatoes, which goes a long way to explaining the previous 3 tries I gave this location. Waited 5 minutes behind a sign that said "please wait to be seated" just so the rude waitress could tell us to sit wherever. The manager came and gave us menus and then asked if we were there before another couple (we were). The couple who was there before us was waited on first. Not a big deal. But when a table of six came in and was immediately seated and waited on we decided to leave. We sat there for about fifteen minutes pretty convinced that we were invisible. The restaurant was not crowded and one of the waitresses even went to chit chat with the manager instead of waiting on us. Never again. read more

Best burgers in town and love the crinkle fries. Haven't tried any of their seafood but really like the chicken fried steak also. It's quieter than Bubba 's and to us is less like a bar so it's more family friendly if that's what your looking for. The staff is mostly friendly but not always enough of them so sometimes they take a little longer, we go when it's not prime time for lunch or dinner and have had no problems. read more

Waste of a restaurant. Save your money and go eat bubbas. It's worth the extra change. This restaurant was sticky and I'm sure it has safety violations. Place needs to be shutdown. Do not eat at the shrimp shack unless you want bad service and have to get your own silverware and napkins. First time there and will not be back. The table next to us was waiting on silverware and I ended up getting it for them along with napkins. Not only that I got stabbed in the leg from a chair that had a nail sticking out and a tea bath from the waitress. Since there was 5 adults we had to pay the 20% tip even though she was no help at all. They were out of just about everything we asked for and didn't get fries, bacon or swamp sauce that we ordered. It was the worst 2 and a half hours at any restaurant. Kept getting hot tea and about 45 mins later we finally received ice. The "shrimp" looked more like 80/100 not large. We received our salad about 20 mins after our plate came. Save the drive and go somewhere else read more

went here back in Feb, crawfish were good, waitress was HATEFUL! Went again on April 16, Crawfish were awful-as in zero spice. Manager seated everyone, then sat on her LARGE behind and let one waitress deal with 6-8 tables...very strange operation. Will not go again. read more
