The waitstaff was very pleasant and eager to please. The Inn itself was exactly as you would expect with one surprise: large wooden tables, dinghy carpet on the floor, antique signs on the walls, and a neon jukebox in the corner. We had a wonderful time listening to old favorites on the jukebox while eating our lunch. We were one of the few groups walking from west to east along the Wall, so the Robin Hood was actually our final "pit stop" before ending the walk in Heddon-on-Wall. It was a lovely meal, and a lovely way to conclude our six-day journey.

To start with I had rabbit popcorn which was well seasoned, moist and extremely tasty and for my first try of rabbit, I was impressed! For mains I had a venison burger with chips. The venison burger was literally one of the best I have ever had! I asked for it to be cooked medium and it was cooked too perfection! Not too red but juicy and crumbly - utterly delicious! My mains was a rich chocolate brownie, which again was pretty amazing although I do have to admit that at this point I was pretty full and didn't manage to finish it all! First of all, there is no access to ice machines, or ice bucket in your room. You must visit the bar for both. You could probably call it up, but that is always a hassle. People at the bar seem like they're forced to be nice to you, but if could have been a bad day. I'd stay at this hotel again and again. I highly recommend it, if not for the tiny fixes to make it a FIVE STAR. The towel warming rack in the bathroom is a nice touch. Please fix the elevator. Lastly, the worst trait of this hotel is the waiter staff during breakfast in the restaurant. My girlfriend and I waited so long for our coffee, tea, and toast that it had to be reordered. Suddenly the reorder comes to our table with black tea instead of green tea. Within seconds later, after a half hour of waiting our original order comes. The waitress is completely confused. There are loads of bars and restaurants nearby, and it's a 15 minute walk to the city centre (there is also a Quayside electric bus which takes you to the centre, or you can take a taxi from outside the hotel). Now on to the interior...I just love it! It's dark and sensual with a lot of purples. The rooms are spacious, and the suites are fantastic: luxurious comfort is how I would describe it. And those beds?! Amazing night's sleep. My husband is American and it's traditional to host a Rehearsal Dinner before your wedding. We held this is a private dining area in the brasserie and from all the planning to the actual event, I could not have had better service. The food is all made on site by the chef and his/her team, and it was delicious. The spa is really adorable, and a lovely place to come and relax. We had a couple's massage. The staff were extremely professional and I loved chilling out in the relaxation room. 5/5 for everything about this place. We had such a great experience from start to finish.

I've stayed at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead three times now, and it appears that little has changed since my first stay back in 2017, the room appeared to be outdated in terms of the overall decor. There were also no bedside plug-sockets. I also had an issue with comfort in my room as the desk chair was uncomfortable, as were the pillows, the latter I did speak to the staff and ask if they had any alternative, to which they replied, "No, sorry" Noise is also an issue throughout the hotel, with corridor noise pretty much all the time, housekeeping would also start very early, adding to the noise issues. It didn't feel well insulated; I could also hear passing trains, all within my room. The corridors were also poorly insulated; I ended up hearing what sounded like a couple having sex when walking through to my room. The Air Conditioning in the hotel was also an issue; it would appear to be running all the time, so it would make a small amount of noise even when turned off. Every time I would open or close the door to my room, it would come on in full again, and there was no override the staff also told me they couldn't do anything about it. The standard of housekeeping was also poor, despite having the "service please" sign on my door, no one ended up coming to my room on my first night luckily, they have housekeeping on until just before 830 pm, so I was able to get my room cleaned after requesting it, but I did have to take another trip out of my room when I didn't plan on it. Housekeeping would also fail to wash or replace drinking glasses in my room, and on one occasion, they left me without any flannels and toilet paper. Cleanliness also could have been better as I found long black hair in the bath when arriving at the hotel. The service also seems to be poor. I did not feel valued as a Gold Hilton Honors member, as I was not given an Executive Floor / Lounge upgrade on this occasion, and the staff were also rude when I asked for a late check-out. They told me they would only be able to grant this on the morning of check-out rather than the night before, after insisting multiple times I wanted a late check-out to sleep in, they did grant me until 1 pm. On my most recent stay, I used the car park, the rates are reasonable at £15 per night with in/out privileges. They ended up taking two payments of £45 to cover the three nights, one as a card hold, one as an actual payment - this meant I had to wait for 30 days for the charges to be manually reversed by my bank from my debit card - again this felt unnecessary how they'd charge me twice and just blame it on the automated systems. The lift in the underground car-park was out of order, meaning I had to carry my heavy suitcase up a flight of stairs. The room rates were certainly reasonable, but given the amount of work this hotel needs, I hope they can give the property the much-needed help and refurbishment it needs to bring back the standards it once had. 2*

It's a gorgeous building which has been lovingly restored in a taseful and stylish way. The gardens are gorgeous, and the setting is great being so close to Jesmond Dene itself. We stayed here once and the room was probably one of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever had. Everything was perfect, right down to the handwritten welcome note from the staff. Secondly, the service is amazing. It's a perfect example of how customer service should be done - staff are polite and courteous, never overly informal. They're always there when you want them, but they never get in the way. And finally, the food. Oh my word... utterly, utterly spectacular. Some of the nicest food I've ever eaten was here. Classic example: my partner hates black pudding and won't eat it anywhere... except at Jesmond Dene House because he implicitly trusts everything they make and he loves it here!

It cost £70 for a double room per night, with breakfast an extra £7.95 per person. You did not have to pay for breakfast upfront you could decide and pay for it the next morning which I felt was a good idea. The rooms were what you would expect from this hotel chain, there was a bar for residents open till 1am and breakfast was enjoyable with plenty of choice. Considering it was a saturday night I honestly did not hear any noise, I was on the 7th floor and there was a stag party staying on the same floor but everybody was well behaved. The hotel itself is about a 2 minute walk from Northumberland street where all the shops are, and about a 15/20 minute walk from the train station so it was quite central to everything.
