We were lucky enough to be invited to a wedding, and the farewell lunch was held at The Angel Inn's restaurant.
The back room is quite spacious and available for private parties. On this particular occasion, the wedding guests had full run of the back area, which includes outdoor seating for nicer weather, a full bar, an abundance of seating and is well decorated/updated. It's quite nice. From noon through around 5pm, guests came and ate, and milled about as they wished. The staff did a fantastic job of keeping everyone one plied with drinks, food, puddings and the checks, when ready!
I'm sure very many were thrilled with this, as the partying went to the late hours the evening before...
I enjoyed a few bloody marys (be warned, if you ask for extra spicy -- its VERY VERY SPICY). And then off the Sunday lunch menu had a wonderful country soup with vegetables and ham and freshly baked bread. It was perfect as I wasn't quite prepared for the large Sunday roasts. However, my husband indulged and it was quite nice, especially at the price of around 12 quid. The apple/cranberry crumble was lovely as well.
Corbridge is a delightful English town. We were a bit early for the lunch so we walked the trails and the town center a bit. Angel Inn is easily accessible via the Corbridge train station (10 minute walk, just over the bridge) -- and was a beautiful stop before we headed back to London. read more
