Also, after lockdowns, when kennels everywhere were full, and I didn't know when exactly I needed to travel, due to a family emergency, Ryan offered to find my dog a place whenever I needed, and followed through. It was one less thing for me to worry about, and I was very touched by their kindness. So I really can't speak more highly of everyone here.

While I didn't have time to eat here, I did stop by the shop which had enthusiastic and friendly staff. What I found surprising was that the Rock Shop was better stocked with a variety of merchandise than many Hard Rock Cafe locations you find in more common tourist destinations. It turns out the franchise owners are huge fans of Hard Rock Cafe and wanted to bring the restaurant to the city of Newcastle in Northern England. While the interiors have more diner vibes than a traditional Hard Rock feel to it, it was bright and welcoming, and appropriately sized with regards to seating for a town like Newcastle which isn't exactly a tourist hub. I wish them success, as they clearly care with the attention with which they stock their shop, and the engaging staff they keep. I'd return for a meal if I spend more time in the Newcastle area in the future.

I entered through the Shop, where they had an excellent selection of memorabilia, before being escorted to my table, down a couple of steps by an amiable manager, sadly I didn't get his name but the manager was excellent, and we chatted about the Newcastle location, and my local Hard Rock in Manchester, he made sure I knew where the lavatories were and told me a few quick facts about the memorabilia, allergy handling process and the anniversary celebration (I visited as they were celebrating their first year of opening) I booked a table via OpenTable so I was seated straight away, I would advise booking ahead as this place does get busy, especially at peak times. If you're just coming in for drinks, they're open past midnight at weekends which is a good shout. The restaurant inside is spacious and comfortable with the large bar area and usual cool HRC vibes, I like how this location had an Open Kitchen too, which was also pretty cool. I ordered the Smokehouse with a 1/2 rack of ribs and some chicken, I tried to explain that I wanted chicken breast rather than a leg, but my server didn't seem to understand me, so I ended up being given a leg, it was seasoned well and had some flavour to it, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I don't like chicken legs, especially compared to the breast. The ribs were flavoursome, had a good amount of meat, and I also liked the sides including real slaw, spicy beans and fries. The slaw was much wetter and I enjoyed it much more than other HRC Cafe's, where they seem to have changed their recipe, while this location stuck to what's good. I do find the prices to be overpriced, slightly common with themed restaurants and HRC in general. 4* - Not value for money, but a great treat and a pretty cool place indeed, I will for sure return next time I make the trip up North.

I love what they've done with the décor, and the bar is gorgeous. An easy place to spend a leisurely time eating and drinking. We were only downstairs in the bar/casual dining area, but I know they have an upstairs too if you can brave the spiral staircase! Servers were really friendly and had an appealing confidence - they seemed well-informed about the food and drink. I asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail, which I didn't see on the menu, and was told the bartender would invent something delicious for me, which he did masterfully (raspberry and mint and other goodness - mmmm!) I got the early evening set menu which I think was £15 for two courses. Soup of the day was carrot and orange, and I followed it with the chive gnocchi. Both dishes were really just on the cusp of being what I wanted - clearly the chef knows what he or she is doing, and the preparation and presentation can't be faulted. A few of the flavors just didn't work for me. I actually saw a man (the chef?) bring a dish down and have all the servers taste it at one point, so I like that they're constantly working on the menu and seeking improvement. The soup was velvety and lush in texture, but I simply found it too sweet. The gnocchis themselves were very lovely and pillowy, but I found one of the sauces dramatically smeared across the plate to be very earthy and strange and unpleasant, so I avoided it and ended up eating much of the dish plain. It was nice - with roasted baby vegetables, toasted pine nuts, and a bit of fresh pesto, but without the sauce to bring it together it was not quite where I wanted it to be. To give credit where it's due, my husband thought his burger and fries was excellent - and I can attest that the fries were indeed crispy and craveable. I'm sure we'll be back to give more dishes a try, but thus far our preliminary observation is that classic dishes are well-executed and yum, and more unique offerings may be a bit more hitty/missy. But they are new, and provide great service in a fab atmosphere, and we will certainly give them another choice. If nothing else, will certainly be back soon for drinks!

After about 3 or 4 minutes, I just decided to leave as despite a member of staff being there and noticing me, she made no attempt to come over to me, greet me, attempt to sit me at a table or anything like that which was a real shame. I know The Alchemist is a chain, and judging by the Yelp reviews of its' branches in London and Manchester it seems to be fairly popular, however this one located in the Eldon Square shopping mall really does lack for service, the overall feel of the place was reasonable, it felt like they had tried their best as it basically seems their store is on the mall's floor rather than a separate store.
