I want to meet this butler and sit in his kitchen listening to him tell me amusing stories while he bakes breads--ala Jeeves and Wooster. Anyway, aside from a great name, this bakery also offers great tasty food. They have some of the nicest home baked cakes, pastries, etc that I've seen for sale in similar bakeries. I always prefer independent, small town bakeries and feel that they deserve my support, but this one is especially nice. I want to eat it up.

I would especially recommend the hot wraps they are lovely but apart from that everything in the bakery is so cheap and what a great valve for money, I recently popped in before going to catch the train and they have started making there homemade soup it was delicious! A fine array of cakes and pies can be found inside served by gentile old ladies who could pass for characters in an Ealing Comedy. You can find proper big cakes here too, though they are probably more suited to big occasions and events and not just to take down to the beach and stuff your face in the shelter of a sand dune. Go for the sausage rolls or iced buns for that.

Using home grown and local ingredients, each delicacy available there will have any sweet-toothed individual overdosing on sugar with unnerving regularity. WOW! Its been a while since I have bought bread this good before. We stumbled across this real…read morebakery when we were on the search for the cheese shop and it is right next door. We spoke to the baker and he told us it was all part of the same business, the bakers and the cheese shop and the bakery had outgrown the building and was soon to be moving a mile or two up the road. Anyhow, we walked through the front door and were amazed at the wonderful display of freshly baked breads available to buy. From super open textured, crunchy baguettes to heavy sourdough and super soft farmhouse loaves, stilton and walnut bread, oily foccaccia and on and on. There was also a small selection of sweets such as really nutty brownies, pain au chocolat and danish. Everything looked so good, it took us forever to narrow down our choices. We ended up buying four loaves of bread and two cakes. All were beautiful and very tasty which is a big lack in most of today's crappy supermarket breads which people have become accustomed. My favourite was the baguette, it really was out of this world. The breads were a little pricey but WELL worth it. And the place is definetly worth a visit!

And they open at 7:30am (at least on the day when we needed some really good coffee before hitting the road). They also make heavenly Welsh cakes. As we walked in that morning we also bought a small bag of them for our trip. Warm and friendly people, great coffee, and great Welsh cakes. Highly recommended.
