It was warm and filled with soft creamy goodness, it just melted in the mouth and the pleasure was mind blaaaaaaaaasting as Russell Peters would say. Ever since that moment I have longed to recreate that feeling of overwhelming pleasure. You see life is full of these pleasures, you just have to search for them. Far too often we settle for... "that'll do". Well I say NO!!!!!! I shall not settle, I shall continue on my merry journey to explore new horizons, to recreate over and over again new feelings and moments of profundity. To continue breaking cherries left right centre. Ashley's cakes will provide, should you wish with opportunities to discover with every birthday or any other occasion a chance to taste something different. Now I hate to break it to ya mi gente (My people en espanol) apart from the decorative pieces and a few other givens the inspiration might not come from here. It may rekindle old tastetastic flames but something new? Probably not. But hey, such is life, if profound moments came like road mileage you may not appreciate them as much. Life is a balance and sometimes a rekindling can do the job just as much as breaking a cherry. You guys are getting this aren't you???!! Rekindling as in going over things you may have tasted before as in a cream vanilla cake. Breaking your cherry as in first time ever you had a dime bar!! That kinda thing kapiche!!? .........Alright alright...keep your panties on ...just checking for those of you who are speed challenged!! Anytothehow this place will decorate ya fluffy baked cakes to perfection should you decide to choose their services. Of course the place will only be useful for special occasions. Unless!!!!!! Would you order a cake for the hell of it? Perhaps labelled( instead of your bog standard happy birthday cheryl..... ) "Dont just sit there EAT ME!!!!!!!!!!" No? you would'nt?? Neither would I....maybe I should!! hmmm !!!!! What's their number??

Satterthwaites was founded one hundred years ago in Liverpool, it has remained a Liverpool based store but popularity has encouraged growth in the area and I think there are around six further stores, four in the Crosby/ Waterloo area. Satterthwaites are extremely popular in the area and well known amongst non-locals too! The food is extremely good, and of course the type of food sold- stodgy savouries: pies; pasties; sausage rolls, and cakes- is irresitable and undeniably popular generally, however I think the popularity of this store is through the unmistakeable element of tradition Satterthwaites has managed to preserve; the cakes are classics: bavarian slices, carrot cakes, meringues, while the old fashioned uniforms are unique to Satterthwaites: hair nets and hats are worn as well as gloves which is nice to see. The staff are always very sociable and friendly and the food is really satisfying: tasty, filling, and reasonably priced. Satterthwaites offer catering services also: finger buffets, cake selections and even fruit platters. This is a popular caterers in the area hired for weddings and all sorts of parties.

They sell an excellent range of foods such as cakes, pies, sausage rolls, pasties, sandwiches, wraps and baguettes. Everything is freshly made and delicious and I have never been less than delighted with my purchases from Satterthwaites. The prices are excellent, as a previous reviewer said starting from £1.99 for a basic meal deal. The staff are dressed in old fashioned uniforms with hairnets, and use gloves when preparing your order. They are very friendly and chatty and make you feel very welcome.

But for places like David, that's just it. Food isn't just food, it's a chance to be creative and they treat it more like a piece of art than something you shove in your mouth, swallow and finish within a minute or two. At David, they do a lovely range of wedding cakes for your special day that look both delicious and ridiculously tall (just how many tiers can one cake have?), all available at competitive prices. However, their novelty cakes are what really intrigue me. A quick browse of their website reveals they do such cakes as the 'Full English' (yep, designed to look like a cooked breakfast) and a 'Deep Pan Pizza'. Such creations show both style and humour, both of which should be applauded and encouraged. David is definitely a place worth checking out, even if it's just to admire the cakes in the window.

His cakes are pure works of art. He has been a master acke maker in this little shop for about twenty years now, and I never tire of marvelling at his latest creations in the window. He produces five fight high sculptures of buildings, life size caricatures of celebrities, comic book figures, figurines from your favourite photograph. Anything is possible in this shop. David has made cakes for Posh and Becks, the Queen, and every local event there is. You must visit.
