Stayed at a friends place in the area last night and thought it might be nice to go out for brunch. She'd heard of the place from a friend who is a regular here.
We arrived at 10.50am found a table and were handed menus. The cafe at the time we arrived wasn't busy. Only half the tables were taken and most of the others had reserved signs on them.
The menus were small but some good choices (lunch menu starts from 11.30am). We ordered coffee, milkshakes and breakfast.
We sat at our table for the next 35 minutes waiting for our drinks and food. We watched the tables around us, who ordered after us get their coffee. Not impressed! When we questioned the waitress it turned out she had given 2 other tables our drinks! Another 10 minutes passed and our coffees and milkshakes finally arrived! Then came the food not 5 minutes later.
After the disappointment with the coffee they made up for it with the food. I ordered the mushroom bruschetta and added poached eggs, the mushrooms, tomato and asparagus were sautéed in garlic butter with cracked black pepper over the top. It was a winner for me. The others ordered b&e rolls, ham and cheese croissants and pancakes with berry compote.
We all agreed the food was good but the disappointment over the lack of service and the delay with our coffee made the experience a bad one. I doubt I will waste my time unless I was ordering take away coffee as it seems they get priority. read more
