Having never been to Terrigal before I can't comment whether there are better places in the area…read morebut Harrisons is A-Ok. Just a block back from the beach this huge restaurant serves food up to 3:30 which is perfect if you want to have a late lunch. They do all day breakfast too and I've learnt that you can usually trust a place that will still serve you eggs and bacon at 3pm. My only critique about this place is it's just a bit bland. Their menu is extensive and their food tastes good it just felt like they could do more with the place and the waitress, who was the only one on at the time serving about 2 other tables in the restaurant, seemed a little disinterested in us. I ordered Avocado on a baguette with poached eggs and a side order of bacon which was just enough to fill me up. Unfortunately the poached eggs were solid. I much prefer when my egg yolk runs all over my plate but the meal was still delicious. One of my colleagues ordered the daily special which was a prawn risotto and I had food envy because it looked really amazing and smelt delicious! Another colleague ordered a chicken salad but the salad was a bit overpowered by the dressing so her lettuce was a bit soggy. It's a relaxing place to just chill out for an afternoon and they do know how to make a decent coffee. I feel it might be one of those places that could be a bit hit and miss depending on what you order and what time of day you are ordering it. I do like the fact that they have signs everywhere that say they are dog friendly. Because if you love dogs then you're okay by me!

Harrisons is set a block back from Terrigal Beach on a shady corner opposite a mysteriously vacant,…read moregrassy lot that's been vacant and grassy for at least 15 years and possibly since Methuselah was a boy - why is it still vacant when it's in prime position and is worth a crudload of wedge, I can't understand it and nobody can give me an answer. I need Scooby Doo and the team in to investigate. Especially Daphne. Mrrowr. And if Velma is away that weekend, well, no biggie, right? But, Harrisons. It's big, occupying the space that two normal, regular-sized cafes would normally fill. It's got a staff of fresh-faced young teenage girls kitted out all in black and with impeccable manners: these girls are trained well, my only wish would be they smile and joke with the customers more. Still, it was early, and I was hungover, so maybe they read the signs and exercised due prudence. Ordered the banana milkshake and man, did it pay off. A giant stainless steel cup, the metal foggy with condensation and deliciously chill to the touch. This is the milkshake I remember enjoying at every milk bar when I was a boy when such milk bars still existed and weren't replaced by awful generic charcoal chicken shops with names like Chookas and Charcoal Charlies. Le sigh. The salad sambo was big, but a bit dry and I kinda wanted to be surprised with something exotic on there, but that was more my fault than theirs. A friend got the haloumi salad, which looked epic, and another friend the chicken schnitty roll, which also looked epic. If it weren't for my milkshake I would have felt justifiably crabby at being so comprehensively out-ordered. Nice relaxed feel at this place. Good coffee too, and the people-watching is up there also.
