They're a breakfast place, do don't turn up expecting dinner. The food is good and the coffee tasty. Prices are reasonable.

Very happy to have dined here, even as our second choice for the evening! They have an…read moreextraordinary amount of outdoor tables, and only two indoor tables. Making this place perfect for a nice day. It's very typical casual Australian where you order at counter, choose a table and the staff brings out your food. You also grab your own water and condiments, which is a hit or miss for Americans. Personally, I love having it all out there for me to grab and not have to wait for someone to ask if I need anything! My guy picked a fried chicken sandwich special. They had a pretty long list of specials on a wooden board near the cashier, so I would check that out before ordering. I picked a burger with pan fried chorizo, jalapenos, and tons of aioli. It was really good. Although I'm still not quite used to the high prices for burgers with no sides in this country, it was very much on par with other burger joints I've seen. If not a dollar less than similar places. The two of us each got a burger and split one order of specialty garlic parm fries, but if you're cool with regular fries/chips, then they have a great deal to add a portion with your sandwich for only a $1 or $2. The nice view of the beach and the trees is a pretty nice perk as well. :)

Chop n grind really emphasise on the American-style burgers as they are quite a hefty size. The double double chop was amazing, and my girlfriend seemed to enjoy the cheeseburger. The fries are another thing though, they are like Maccas chips only bigger! Will return here

Stumbled across this place when i was upgrading my truck license at Highway driving school just…read morenext door :) Initially walked straight past it for coffee at the Factoria and it only caught my eye on the way out :). They only open thursdsy through to Sunday from 5pm - 10pm, pretty decent hours for a late night appetizer :D!! The menu is at the front of the shop making it nice and easy to see what's on offer :). They had the Philly cheese steak rolls, loaded Hot dogs, loaded and plain fries and deep fried oreos :) I opted for the mushroom Philly cheese steak, love mushrooms haha!! Also got the the Philly hot dog which was a schnitzel crumbed Vienna hot dog and then deep fried .. :D, got chips and a drink with the deep fried oreos as a no brainer to order haha !! 2 mates both got the Philly cheese steak roll meal aswell & an NY Hot dog with a serving of deep fried oreos each aswell :). It was a cool lay out with libe American football on the TV to the left of the counter, 2 wooden bench table for seating, a small table ro the right of the counter with sauces/pickles to add on and a drum fire in the centre to warm up :), slightly 10 times better than those crappy tall gas heaters you see at all the restaurants everywhere these days haha The Cheese steak rolls were big and cheesy and on the tasty side .. wasn't on the hard side to scoff it down before you thought about taking it slow haha.. the hot dogs were on the average side but still not bad tasting but if i went back i would just stick to the Philly cheese steaks :)!! Last but not least the deep fried oreos, they weren't ready when we got our meals handed to us but they were conveniently ready when we had finished eating so it was perfect timing :). Is what a perfect amount of Batter on the oreos and it xame with oreo ice cream aswell :). My highlight of ths night was definitely the Oreos :D!! This place definitely kicks the butts of the majority of try hard Ameican places that have opened up in the city. The quality for the city places gets lost in trying to be the best when this place has a basic menu, the food qaulity is on point and for it being in a semi industrial area with the exception of a cafe and Italian restaurant beside it, it still got younger and older crowds, also a few families coming past for the cookies :D Also the people who were working there were super friendly and helpful :D!!

It's an American Ranch style smoke house…read more Like most restaurants that start up in the central coast its minimalistic in design and menu. The atmosphere has a sense of tension, the feeling you get when you want a restaurant to surprise you with good food, drinks and price, unfortunately SOW doesn't do any of them very well. The menu in the US can be found at most road side truck stops, nothing new here only that it's slightly misplaced in Umina. Not that it shouldn't be there it's just that because of the prices of the food and drink I can't seem to believe they'll have a loyal customer base. Well not all year round. I'm surprised given the location and the cost of rents in the area they couldn't be more generous with either the servings or the prices. In fact the restaurant is far more suited to Surry Hills, and charges the same prices. There's only one healthy option on the menu an ode to vegetarians, but without any enthusiasm and priced as the most expensive, it would seem they were trying to avoid the subject. Being so close to the coast and a fishing wharf I'm surprised there is no fish on the menu smoked or not. The drinks menu is interesting and leans towards the craft beers and cocktails. The wine list is appalling and unnecessarily slim. A glass of average wine at $11.00 it's cheaper to drink in Surry Hills. Overall it's a bar that wants to be a restaurant that wants to be a bar but probably can't because of licensing. I'd definitely go back for a drink and bar snack if they reviewed their pricing. In fact it's close to being the go to place, if they could get it right and find their appropriate audience for the location. The service was good, attentive and appropriate.

The pancakes were sweet and well balanced with mascarpone! The coffee was smooth and the service friendly. We followed sweets with a brisket Rueben burger, poutine tater tots and a pumpkin salad for balance. Being a brisket lover I have high standards and this brisket measure up nicely; succulent, tasty and juicy. The salad was tasty but a few more options in the salad department would be nice(fennel citrus???). We devoured the poutine taters in no time, dripping in tasty house gravy and mozzarella. The hero of the meal was the brisket in my book, washed down nicely with a golden ale. If you enjoy southern US diner food, then you won't be disappointed with sounds on west, the jukebox tunes add to the charm! And they stock Henry's gin from distillery botanica in Erina. Great stuff.
