He verbally quoted me a ballpark estimate to fix the issue but also gave me step-by-step instructions to troubleshoot & resolve the issue in case it was something very minor. Turns out it was and I was able to clear up this issue with Dan's help over the phone. Side note: turns out I did hire Lyons in the past for an issues with our bathroom plumbing in which they did a phenomenal job, were very punctual & communicative, and were reasonably priced. I also learned about some mistakes I made in trying to DIY the issue. Seems like the whole Lyons team are not only pros at their trade but also great teachers who are genuinely there to help. Giving 5 stars for Dan's professionalism, ability to detect my sense of urgency (a little desperation too, probably), and willingness to help a customer even if didn't help his bottom line. Honestly not sure how Lyons stacks up compared to their competitors on price alone, but my bet is that they're second to none in quality work and professionalism. As this post has been titled, I won't hire anyone else other than Lyons and I suggest at least talking to these guys for your next plumbing project/repair.

A&F Plumbing Services

Beware: Overpriced, Misleading, and Unhelpful…read more I called A&F Plumbing for a $59 service visit to find out why my water heater was not heating -- seemed reasonable. The tech was polite. That's where the positives ended. He relit the pilot light and THEN told me it was $250 just to relight the pilot light -- something most plumbers include in the basic fee. After paying that ridiculous charge, my water still never got hot. He didn't check, wait to see - - just said he relit it. He did make sure he had a sales pitch though. Without fully diagnosing the problem, he jumped straight to recommending a $875 burner assembly or a $5,250 replacement water heater, (complete with estimates) claiming mine was 11 years old, but my house is only 9 years old. Either the math was off, or they were hoping I wouldn't question it. I paid $250 for nothing -- no fix, no follow-up, just out the window, whoever recommended them should be ashamed of themselves. Definitely a bait-and-switch. If you're looking for real solutions and honest pricing, I strongly suggest calling someone else.

The guy came out, don't want to name the plumber, sent me an estimate literally 5 minutes after leaving the house. The estimate was for almost $5000 to replace the hot water heater and another $4500+ to repair/replace the leaky pipes for a total of almost $9500. Ridiculously laughable. I was able to get the job done for $1200 total by a licensed independent plumber. I didn't need the HW heater to be replaced. They just had to remove some HVAC ductwork to get to the leaky pipes, which they put everything back after replacing pipes. Do Not use Mallick I would consider them to be untrustworthy, and total rip off. Always get at least 3 estimates just make sure they are licensed. I still ended paying $99 for Mallick because they have a policy you pay $99 for estimate but gets added to the total if you get the work done. Again, ripoff. I also got an estimate from FH Furr that was significantly lower than Mallick but they were unwilling to remove ducts that they didn't install. Another ridiculous policy by another large plumbing company even though their plumber said they would have to involve the HVAC department. Maybe their plumbers don't know company policy. These guys didn't charge for an estimate. My recommendation is DO NOT use Mallick and even DO NOT use FH Furr.
