I had a slight plumbing problem when I first moved into my new place a few months ago. The toilet in the master bathroom was not flushing... and it was beyond my skill to fix... in other words more than just pour draino and hope for the best.
A handyman I had helping my fix up the house recommended I called Water on Wheels to help me fix the problem. I called, and two people John and Sharla Thompson came by to fix the toilet... and within an hour they had it working right. While I spoke with them and paid them for their services. They were trying to see if they could sign me up for some of their long term services. They for instance delivery water but I was not interested. They then talked about their salt delivery service for water softeners and I remembered that the house I bought had one. I have never owned a water softener before and didn't know what needed to be done to keep one working. Heck I didn't even know what it does.
Seems water softeners according to the internet:
"is used to soften water by removing the minerals that cause the water to be hard. When water contains a high level of calcium and magnesium it is called hard water. Hard water constitutes several problems throughout your home that you may or may not have noticed. Hard water is known to clog pipes, complicate soap and detergent dissolving in water, and leave behind water spots. It creates a scale buildup inside your pipes and water appliances reducing the efficiency of your water heater. This means more energy is used to heat water which will result in increased energy expenses. Soap is also less effective in hard water because it reacts to form the calcium or magnesium salt of the organic acid of the soap. Skin washed in hard water is typically reported as feeling scratchy and dry as a result of the soap scum. Hair washed in hard water is reported as being dull-looking and sticky. Some may experience a few of these hard water results and others may be accustomed to the feeling of their clothes, bedding, skin and hair after washing. It is mostly important to protect your home with softened water to prolong the lifespan of pipes and home appliances from scale buildup and clogging...
Water treated with a water softener versus untreated hard water has many benefits:
1) Cleaner and shinier silverware, glassware, mirrors, tiles, cars, or any plumbing fixtures.
2) Softer skin and clean, smooth hair.
3) Reduced soap curd makes cleaning easier and reduces housework.
4) Uses less soap and shampoo because of the rich lather softened water and soap produces.
5) Softer clothes without hard minerals trapped in the fabric. Fabrics last longer and whites stay whiter without the dingy gray caused by hard water.
6) Preserves the life of all water appliances such as coffee machines, ice makers, dishwashers, water heaters and laundry equipment.
7) Save money on monthly energy costs and damages to appliances.
They looked at my water softener and it was almost out of salt. They put some in and put me on a schedule to have salt delivered and put into my softener system periodically.
I have to say I do notice a difference because of the water softener, as clothes are much easier for instance to iron.
In a way I am glad my toilet malfunctioned because I got to meet to really nice people, and found out how to keep my water softener working.
Also to show how nice, friendly and customer oriented they are, they send a nice thank you card after I signed up for their service. If you need water or salt deliveries in Van Wert or the surrounding areas, or need a good plumber... give them a call. read more
