And all done at a great price. My MIL used to cut my family's hair before she moved out of state in 2018, and since she's left we've had a difficult time finding someone to cut my boy's hair just the way they like it. They are 13 & 9 yrs old. We I stopped in at Uppercuts Barbershop to try them out. They're located right between the gym & Safeway. The shop has a young, cool vibe. They had great hip hop music playing, and the guys working were cool, and appeared to know the latest trends. There are 4 stations w/4 guys doing all the things. This is not a quick cut kind of place, it's a true barbershop where your guy takes a load off & spends a little time on his hair/facial needs. Both of my boys were extremely excited about their new cuts, but I haven't seen my 13yr old smile so much after getting his hair done in the last year. Taylor did a great job & was so personable & friendly. I then swung in a few days later to get my hair, and beard, trimmed and shaped. Oscar was fantastic!! These guys really take their time to make sure not only are you satisfied with everything, but that you walk out looking ready to take on the world! If you're in the area, swing by and check the new shop.

When trying to explain what I wanted I rotated the chair towards the mirror so I could see what I'm showing. Alec The Barber snapped and rather impolitely told me to keep my feet on the stand. I said, ok fine, sorry, any specific reason I can't rotate chair so that I can see in the mirror what I'm showing to you? He said: mirror is not for you, it's for me, chair is not for you to rotate, it's for me to rotate, and I will not cut your hair today. And then he started basically yelling at me. Another barber said: from now on we will refuse service to you because of the incident. It's past 5pm. I have an event tomorrow morning that I needed the haircut for. Uppercuts Barbershop let me down big time. I do not recommend it to anybody. Stay away, especially if you're planning to get a haircut at the last moment for a special occasion.

My hair is exceptionally hard to cut well (I think) and he did an incredible job. He lined up my beard very nicely too. He gave me fade and took a bit off the top. Honestly, it was probably the best haircut I've ever had, and I I'll be back for sure. The vibe is relaxed and chilled. This is not a hair salon, so don't expect shampoos and all that jazz. It's just a barber shop. It's definitely on the pricier side so be away. Definitely make appointments online instead of walking in. If you see this Cortez, well done.

Pros: The owner seems like a nice guy, many people rave…read moreover their services Cons: One jerk of a barber, atmosphere may not always be appropriate for all ages Details (mostly so other parents know what we experienced): My pre-teen son needed a real hairstyle instead of a clipper cut at home. Faded Up had a lot of great reviews so we went for a walk-in haircut. He ended up in "Stiles" chair. We brought three photos and discussed likes/dislikes about each. We clearly explained my son wanted an easy style and nothing too trendy. As the haircut progressed, Stiles kept combing it over with a hard part and we had to point out several times that was not what my son wanted. It was evident Stiles was angry and frustrated by the end, and he loudly advised me from across the shop that next time we should know what we want before we come in. I guess photos are not enough? In the end the haircut was just ok. I had to even up the sides when we got home, as well as clean up a spot that was nicked and continued to bleed into the evening. Neither of my sons liked the heavy R&B channel playing on the TV, and I was surprised by a couple videos featuring dancers in strip clubs grinding their barely-dressed pelvises in men's faces. I'm a fairly open and progressive parent, but I didn't feel the "entertainment" was appropriate for a business that is said to be a good place to take children years younger than mine. The end result? My sons asked me to brush up on my haircutting skills because they don't want to go to a barber shop again. I understand how this place could appeal to some though, and I hope they continue to be successful.

They say they work with younger kids, boys specifically, yet the videos on their TV with mostly naked women, Rap videos full of women being objectified and general decor around this place that seems to encourage a "macho men only" feel, is not a place for younger men or boys. The language was extreme as well, being used by the stylist, and before I get some, "Oh you're a Karen" or, "Oh you're a religious nut" gaslighting or deflection, I am neither. Nothing wrong with being a progressive-minded person who feels general decent behavior is not a bad thing and good role modeling for younger people is nice. So glad I took my son here!…read more Back story, I started having my son go to various kid salons and barber salons for a few years now. So by now, he is able to compare from past experiences and tell me if he enjoyed getting his haircut done or not. We haven't really found a barber he was completely satisfied with, until now! We needed to cut my son's hair in short notice and I was pleased to see that this barber shop allowed walk-ins bcuz so many around only do by appointments. When we walked-in, we didn't have to wait long for his turn. I showed Joffer a picture of how my son wanted his haircut to look and Joffer mentioned not to make the sides too faded/bald, which I really appreciated bcuz I really didn't want it too short for him. My son was done in no time and he even was offered a lollipop in the end! But what really made the icing on the cake was what my son told me after his haircut - As he was smiling from ear to ear, I asked him how was it and he told me that he (Joffer) was by far his favorite barber, not because he was Filipino (like us hehe) but because he was nice to him and always blow dried his hair frequently throughout his haircut to prevent him from getting itchy! It was the small details that meant a lot to him! My husband and I were happy and satisfied with his haircut also! I'm so glad we found this salon in our neighborhood! We'll definitely be back!
