Jordan Sweet was great. 7 weeks ago I came in for my first pro cut & beard trim since February, and it was well worth the deluxe package. Jordan specifically cut my hair knowing I don't have time for regular cuts, and it worked. I return next week, a happy customer :-) read more

I had just landed in Portland and was looking to get a haircut before the end of the day. I looked up several spots in downtown and this one looked the most promising. I arrived and asked if walk ins were available. They got someone to cut my hair. I was greeted and asked if I wanted a beer or whiskey. I politely declined. I had my barber that I wanted a come over fade with a hard part on my left. I additionally asked for a beard trim. The only thing she asked of me was what level I wanted on the sides and I said a 2. She didn't ask me anything else and cut away. I was happy with the fade but wasn't happy with the length on top. The amount of trim of my beard was way too much. At times, I felt she didn't know how to proceed. I'm not saying I al dissatisfied all together, but I wasn't exactly happy with it either. My fault partially for not describing exactly what I wanted, however barbers should also ask if the cut is good as they go. The price was way too much. Overall, visit could have gone better. read more

I was really happy at Union. I called about five other shops midafternoon. Many closed early others full. At this shop the owner was kind enough to take me as an add on last customer of day. Terrific guy & great cut! Great convo too! read more

Let's start with - Farrell IS AWESOME. Here's why 1) Attention to detail 2) He cuts both straight hair and curly hair with stellar quality - My curly hair would retain the look and feel of really good cut even weeks after Additionally, my manicured beard always looked perfect. I myself wouldn't touch it and let him maintain it for me 3) He takes feedback graciously converting it into favorable actions for clients. I have known Farrell since his Seattle days. He was my barber for at the very least 3 years. I have dearly missed him since his move to Portland. Union Barber Co and Portland are very lucky to have him. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. read more

Wednesday is the best hairstylist I've ever known. She's kind, talented and professional. I am pretty particular about getting my haircut stylishly and she does a great job. I can usually get in within a day or two when I need my hair styled. No nonsense no-frills just a good cut. read more

If you have a chance, go see Abe to get your haircut. He's a stand up guy and cut my hair and didn't charge me just because I'm back in sobriety. What a gift that he was to my day. I really appreciated it and I'll be coming back. Thanks so much Abe. read more

Where to even start! Ashlee, and Kelly did a fantastic job on my husbands and my hair. Their skill level is well worth the price of this barbershop. And that drink and hot towel were the cherries on top of the whole experience. Definitely going back read more

Alright, where to begin? This place is wonderful. Jordan, my Barber, nailed what I was looking for in a cut. He was very understanding, made great conversation, took in the details, made sure I was comfortable and he didn't assume a damn thing. He made me feel confident about letting him know what adjustments needed to be made in my cut and executed them flawlessly. His care and technical proficiency made for very few adjustments as he grasped my vision and offered helpful feedback to make sure that I knew that he knew what I wanted. The ambiance is really nice and the old school meets new school approach of the shop in general makes for a relaxing, yet entertaining experience that shouldn't be missed. My barber has been out of town and so I've had to find alternatives wherever I can, but I wish every experience was as good as this one. I can't recommend Jordan enough! A+! read more

I worked with Casey the other day and it was probably one of the best haircut experiences of my life I really felt comfortable. Working with new people can be awkward but not with Casey, he listened to what I really wanted for my haircut and he did an amazing job. Super happy. Safe riding Casey see you soon. read more

My fiancée and I were visiting Portland for the first time and this was our first stop. I wanted to pamper him with a nice beard/head razor shave. The gentlemen (sorry forgot his name) did an amazing job and delivered. My fiancée was in the chair chatting and sipping whiskey (like whaaaaat?) YES! That's so awesome! I highly recommend this barbershop to everyone who visits Portland! Thank you for an amazing experience! read more

Great place for a hair cut if you live in downtown or just passing through. The online set up is quick and easy. Had great conversation with the barber, Abe, would recommend for anyone to check it out. Pricing is in line with other shops in the area, great old time barber shop feel as well! read more

If I were a man, I'd become a regular. This must be the coolest barber shop I've ever seen . Now, I've got to be honest: I haven't seen that many, but still! Man... They serve alcohol here! Not like ordering Booz, but I guess it's part of the whole experience. For the very first time my BF didn't look like he was slaughtered by a barber's knife with bad hair. That alone is a reason to pay a bit more. No more cheap haircuts for him. read more

After moving to Portland, tried some random places for haircuts, they were just blah. So happy I found Ashlee here at Union. Best haircut I've had, been coming ever since. Perfect fade, and texturing. Add in a beer and great conversation, cant beat it. Thank you :D read more

I was visiting from the LA area and was in desperate need of a haircut. I hate getting a cut from anywhere other than my usual barber shop, but I thought I'd give this place a shot. Service here was great! I called to make an appointment and they had plenty of slots to choose from. When I arrived, they took my hat and jacket, and offered coffee and water. The barber (Rick) was easy going and really knew what he was doing. I have really thick hair, so barbers who aren't used to me have a difficult time making my fade really close to skin. He was confident and did a great job without hurting me in the process lol. Would definitely recommend! read more

If you're looking for a dope, queer & trans friendly, down to earth barber then you definitely have to book with Alaina. Excellent work . Abe Mehdikhan is truly a master at his craft. Took his time with everything. Nothing was rushed. Gave me a straight razor shave, which I highly recommend. Hot towels pre-shave treatment and more hot towels. It was great! Even gave me tips on how to take care of my goatee that he trimmed and shaped. Can hardly wait until my next visit. The shop also has a real great vibe. You won't be sorry when you. Thanks again Abe read more

I came in here with the same ole plan, but a willingness to try something new. Sabastian made some good suggestions and I happily rolled with it. He did an incredible job, we had a great conversation, and I left significantly happier than I was when I came in. Had to get a haircut in a pinch and had two problems 1) all of the barbers with good reviews were all booked out for weeks 2) I'm very particular about my hair and being new to the area, I was skeptical about letting a new barber take a whack at giving me a cut. Came to union barber because the reviews were good and they had appointments available for same day. I ended up having Kenny give me a cut and he was excellent. Great attention to detail, awesome fade, and worked well with my less than perfect hair. Highly recommend this shop. read more

Great cut by Joshua this weekend. I walked in off the street and there was no wait whatsoever, so went for it. I was pleasantly surprised when I was offered a drink too. What a chill experience. Where do you I start? Visiting Portland and decided I needed to get a haircut. Went on yelp and saw that Union Barber Co. is #1 with all 5 stars, and I can see why. Easy scheduling, elegant inside, outstanding customer service. Devin, very skilled in his craft. Beautiful execution and outcome. Mind you, I was a walk in and not a repeat client and he was able to figure out exactly what I needed. Highly recommend to anyone looking to receive an outstanding haircut! Jordan Sweet is one of the best barbers in all of Portland! Never have I ever had such a detail oriented man cut my hair. I spent the better part of 45 minutes in his chair for the haircut but the end result was nothing short of impeccable. The straight razor shave was also among the smoothest experiences I've ever had, in any barbershop ever. 7 out of 5 Stars, I'll be back! read more

New to Portland (few months), and have been kind of putting off sorting out my barber situation. You know, it's a relatively personal thing, had my routine in other city, etc. But the procrastination was unnecessary. Found the barbershop really quickly doing Yelp search, saw all these great reviews, made the appointment, and next day got a very good haircut. Friendly barber, did quality work and friendly welcoming atmosphere. Like a bunch of other reviewers here, Kenny cut my hair and I recommend both Union Barber Co and Kenny. But I am sure the other barbers are good too, they were friendly and I felt welcomed. Seriously, Portland continues to underline its reputation as a chill, friendly, city that values and appreciates quality service and products. read more

After reading the reviews of this place, I decided to book an appointment with Bill Collins to help me get ready for a workplace Christmas party that had a "Mad Men" theme to it. I was warmly welcomed by the staff as soon as I arrived and was offered a drink of whiskey, beer, coffee or water. Bill greeted me and ushered me into the chair. Not only is Bill a great conversationalist, but he's an amazing hairstylist. My previous haircut was much more modern, with the sides short and long on top. Bill worked an hour to transform my hair from modern-day to a 1960's New York City vintage side part. It looks fantastic. He also used a warm towel and shaving cream for a shave of my neck using a straight-razor, gave me a choice of three different aftershaves to apply (which all smell fantastic), and gave me a few practical tips for styling my hair. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this barber shop. One of the biggest differences I noticed between Union Barber Company and Modern Man is that Union Barber Company is the lighting. Whereas I felt that Modern Man was a little dark, I really enjoyed the contrast that Union Barber Company has created by painting the walls white and installing lots of lighting. In a way, it says that the barbers at Union Barber Company have nothing to hide - the hair speaks for itself. I highly recommend Bill Collins, and I definitely think that both he and Union Barber Company deserve a five-star rating. I'll be visiting again for my next haircut, without a doubt. read more

Kenny is the best. Been going here for a year and every single time I am treated well. Extremely friendly staff and outstanding service. Not to mention, the haircuts are superb! I'm ex-military, used to buzzcuts, so my hair was growing in weird ways. Kenny took about 6 seconds to assess my hair style and what I was looking for in a cut with some photos, and off we went. My hair has never looked better! Bravo! read more

Probably the best haircut I've ever had. Casey did an awesome job and spent the time to make sure it was right. I'd follow Bill Collins anywhere. He's an excellent barber who gives consistent, reliable, quality cuts.
