I want the board, the committees, and the wider community to know what outstanding work is being done here--quietly, selflessly, and without any expectation of recognition. My connection to this temple goes back to 2003 or before. During those early years I was a regular here--and a volunteer. I gave my time the same way today's volunteers do, so I know firsthand what goes on behind that counter: the early hours, the hot griddles, the long prep, the cleanup, and doing it all over again the next week. Life has taken me in other directions and I am no longer able to volunteer from 2012 I guess as I once did--but I have never stopped loving and appreciating this temple. That is why, when I see the kind of service I saw this past week, I know exactly what it costs, and I cannot let it go unrecognized. I know what selfless seva looks like from the inside, and the team in Prasad Bhavan is the real thing. The food was outstanding. The dosa was so good--perfectly crisp, made fresh, and the best we have had anywhere in Orlando, Sanford, Casselberry, Longwood, or any of the neighboring cities. We have tried them all, and Prasad Bhavan is the one we keep coming back to. Two things set it apart: * The sambar and chutney. You give more--generously more--than anywhere else in the entire area. Most places skimp; you don't. * The vada. The size is really good, the kind that is rare to find anymore. Fresh, big, and made with care. It was a super best dinner -- so good, in fact, that we carried out enough for a few more days instead of cooking at home. Thanks a million. We were so grateful. Here is the part I most want the board and the world to hear: every person working in the Prasad Bhavan kitchen is a volunteer. They receive no pay and no benefit. They give their time, their labor, and their warmth out of pure devotion and selfless service -- seva in its truest form. They stand over hot griddles, prep for hours, clean up, and do it all over again the next week, for nothing in return except the joy of serving. Having been a volunteer myself in those earlier years, I can tell you -- it is hard, humbling, beautiful work, and it is the soul of this temple. They do not seek recognition, which is exactly why they deserve it. To Dr. Yogi Pattisappu -- a lifetime achievement honoree, and a man who proves it every single day. You go out of your way to help -- in the garden, in the volunteer work, in the "and what not" that never makes it onto any agenda. You make this temple feel like home, and we are lucky to have you. A temple is its people, and Prasad Bhavan is the proof. I have watched this temple grow and serve this community for over twenty years, and the spirit that built it -- the spirit of volunteers giving of themselves -- is alive and well in that kitchen today. The food nourishes the body, the volunteers nourish the spirit, and together they make this place a center of community in the truest sense. I am grateful for every dosa, every cup of sambar, every vada, and every act of service in the kitchen, the garden, and the hall. I hope the board will share this letter with the Prasad Bhavan volunteer team, the kitchen coordinator, and the volunteers' families -- so the people who did the work, and the people who share them with us, know how deeply it is appreciated. They are the face of this temple to the wider world, and they make us all proud. But there is one thing that has not changed, and today I am finally speaking up. That is the head priest there, Narayana Bhattar. He is arrogant, rude and uncaring. When you walk to the dieties receive blessings or to pray, he will be sitting right there. He refuses to look up from his book or his phone. When you try to exhchange pleasantries as a hint, he ignores you. We endure this humiliation time after time, donation after donation. Today I had to speak up to let people know. Only Bhattar is this way. Not the others. Narayana Bhattar's behavior is not only offensive, but hurtful. Others vistors go through the same, but seldom does anyone speak up. So I am doing so now. So be it known and visitors beware... This is the home of an unkind arrogant priest.

For me, the Chinmaya Mission is more of spiritual organisation, and they use the Vedas (books like the Upanishads) and Hindu scriptures (like the Bhagavad Gita) to teach people how to live a moral life in today's modern world. Other folks might disagree with my interpretation and that's fine - I reckon there's more than one way towards spiritual salvation and to each their own :-) BTW, I really love the motto of Chinmaya Mission, which is: "to give maximum happiness to maximum people for maximum time." I enjoy coming to this mission for the lovely Vedic teachings. There's a Chinmaya Balavihar program which is the equivalent of Sunday School for kids, and there's also other classes such as tabla and Indian classical dance. They also teach Vedic math (techniques for mental calculation), something that I find quite fascinating. The cost of classes are very reasonable too. There's also tons of visiting guest lectures and classes about all aspects of Hindu spirituality. The best kept secret (maybe not so after this review?) is the free yoga class on Wednesday evenings, which I think of as more faithful to the spiritual tradition and combining breath work, unlike most Yoga classes found at local gyms/ yoga studios, which I find for the most part, have been more "westernized". Its a holy, divine atmosphere and everyone's welcome. Absolutely come and check it out, and if you come on Sunday, stay back for the free, communal dining experience after the service! Yelp 127/2018

Florida was a very different place back in both the mis to late 1800's and the early 1900's and would be unrecognizable from the sprawling community (not only Geneva, but the greater Orlando area) we know today. This review is not meant to endorse or critique a place of worship or services. I visited the auditorium for a concert on Friday. The lobby was small, but still nice with decorations. I didn't see any concession stands, so we ate somewhere else before the event. When we got to our seats, we noticed that our tickets weren't checked, even at the entrance. We sat in our assigned seats anyways, which was at the balcony. The seat was a typical arena style seat, but it was comfortable enough. The AC inside was cold and perfect. Looks like the venue is able to hold about 2000 guests. We had no issues viewing the orchestra and the monitors there. The bathrooms in the balcony area was small and only accommodated a couple people at a time, so there was a little wait. Though, it was pretty clean. Other than the security screening, we didn't see much staff at the venue. Wasn't sure whether the screening was common at the venue, or requested by the concert people, but the security staff were mostly polite and professional. They did however, leave immediately after the show. There was staff to help with parking and heading to the venue, but that was it. Parking was free and ample, so it was a plus compared to other venues. For a concert, I would visit the venue again. However, I would be aware of the lack of concessions inside, security screening requirements to enter, and not much staff indoors. But the free parking, comfortable seating, and great AC makes this a nice choice.
