Not that you have a choice for your trash pickup service - because you don't - but these people are extremely unprofessional. On the morning of August 6, I placed an order for new service at a rental property that I own. All I needed was a single trash can delivered to the house by August 15. Basically, I gave them ten days notice. They promised that a container would be delivered by August 15. On August 16, I went to the property, and guess what - no container. Of course, now it's the weekend, and the renter arrives on Tuesday. No way to call these guys until Monday morning. First thing Monday morning, I call them.
One little side note - the phone number on the website for the Castroville office (an 831 number) for some reason rings through to Los Angeles. The representatives that answer will tell you that you are out of their service area and they can't help you. Then they "transfer" you back into a call queue and if you are lucky, you will get someone in Castroville (but no guarantees).
Anyway, back to my Monday call - after I got through to someone who could handle my service area (the city of Marina in case you were wondering), the peron apologizes for the container not being delivered and then confirms that the container is out for delivery as we speak and then confirms the address - but she has the wrong address. I tell her the correct address, and she says she will call the driver immediately and let them know. Of course, you can already see what's coming right? The can is not delivered on Monday either. So first thing Tuesday morning I call again, and the person who answers tells me that the can will be delivered today for sure. She has confirmed it with the driver.
Tuesday at 4:30pm, as my renter has arrived at the property, I realize that the can is still not delivered, and immediately call them again. The woman who answers says she is going to put me on hold and call the dispatcher. When she comes back on the line, she tells me that the dispatcher told her that they just dropped off the can while I was on hold. Ummm no. I am standing on the sidewalk in front of the house. Obviously caught in a lie, she says that she will have the dispatcher call me back by 5:00pm - which just happens to be the time that they stop answering the phones. You guessed it - no callback from the dispatcher.
On Wednesday, I call them again, this time my call goes through to Los Angeles again. I immediately ask to speak to a supervisor and the woman tells me that her supervisor can't take calls for issues outside of her service area. She says she is going to put me on hold while she tries to get a hold of a supervisor in my service area. After several minutes went by she comes back on the line and tells me that she can't get a hold of anyone in the Castroville office. She also informs me that they are out of trash cans and that is why they have not delivered one. I choke back a laugh imagining a trash removal company with no trash cans and then tell her that I have actually seen the truck that delivers the cans driving through Marina within the past five days and it was overflowing with containers to be delivered. She can't really respond intelligently because I have just caught her in a lie, but she tells me she will make sure that a Supervisor calls me back. It has been an hour now, and still no call. I'm not holding my breath.
If I was able to choose any other vendor for trash removal services, I would. The drivers may be great - based on the other two reviews - but the "Management" part of Waste Management are a total joke. read more
